I heard a lot that scared me before I left so I thought I'd give my opinion about Disneyland! Here's what I observed on my four days there from June 15-18.
1. It was crowded. And hot. However, people were respectful and kind. Only stroller that ran me over was my own. People seemed to take extra care to be polite.
2. The grads weren't bad. We were in dca on grad night. Lots of large groups of teenagers who were exuberantly loud but they weren't foul or rude. Just happy.
3. Getting a das for an under three is a pain. You have to do it every day. They need a better system.
4. Cast members were wonderful. So nice and helpful. We found no grumpy people. We lost my daughters autograph book and I'll admit, I was crying. Several cast members came up to make sure I was okay and gave me the number to call to find it.
5. The kids food is atrocious. I understand wanting to be healthy but it should taste good. The Mac and cheese couldn't be wiped off my children, resulting in a horrible sensory breakdown and head banging.
6. If your husband ever gets the brilliant idea to put your one year old on the stationary dumbo and leave her alone to take a picture, you will get to meet the nursing staff and security staff. Nice people. They didn't even tell my hubs how stupid he was. Our poor baby though now has all her birthday pictures looking like she was in a bar fight.
7. Watch the parade and fireworks near iasw. We got there at 8 in the disability section and had front row. There was plenty of front row left at 7:30. And the fireworks viewing wasn't crowded.
8. Had a bizarre experience with woody. He was holding my daughter on his lap and she got scared. He wouldn't let go until I screamed at him. She ended up running away and I think that is when the book got lost.
9. Disneyland is an awesome vacation. The end.

I enjoyed your trip report very much! Got a good laugh out of number 1 with the stroller and number 6, though not because your baby got hurt. That just sounds like something that would happen in my family and the kind of reaction I would have, too :)

I agree about the kids' food, but not because of the healthy thing. It was always atrocious. Then again, I don't think the adult food is all that great for the most part (counter service, anyway).

Dizme I disagree about the food. We had an amazing adult dinner at rancho del zocalo. But the kids food was not the same rice and beans. It was bland and dry.

Great report Lovebug33 - we leave next week.
I had a question...for the disability viewing of the parade/fireworks...can you go there if you have a DAS and not a wheelchair? If so, where exactly by IASW is it located? Are you able to see the castle/Matterhorn from this location?
Thanks!

Great report!

I LOL'd about your hubby!

So glad that despite all the uglies, you had a fabulous trip. Disney magic just does something to ya!

I don't think they will take the das. I asked and she had nothing to scan. She said this was just for people with wheelchairs and their family. Like I sat with the stroller but my family was in the back behind the wheelchairs. I think this is just so people in wheelchairs can see. You couldn't see the castle or the Matterhorn.

Oh, I like the table service places for adult food. It's the counter service stuff that I don't care for :P. We often got an adult meal for the kids to share because the kid meals never appealed to them and we didn't like to pay for it!

I'm sorry about Woody and your autograph book. Sometimes those guys can't see or hear very well in those get ups. Did you find the book? My oldest left hers on Heimlich's Choo Choo on her first trip. I admit I cried too. Fortunately they had it there at podium when we realized we'd left it. First thing she does is write her name and cell # in hers and her sibs now.

We leave in the morning and IASW is our plan for parade and fireworks. Glad to hear it worked for you.

That just sounds humorous about the bebe lookin like she entered a boxing match. Yeah i know i have a weird sense of humor. Lol
What was he thinking though? Not clearly apparently. :scared:

#9.........
As the man with no name goes riding off into the sun, most likely going to Mexico where he may live like a gringo god, with plenty of wine, cigars and first class........well.....ladies.

Dumbo I would say. That was the night it happened. Now she has a big black eye. And she gives us this big toothy smile and she looks so funny with the smile and the big black eye. It was humorous because the nursing staff said we should have them call paramedics and take her immediately to a hospital. My daughter is chronically ill and well known at the peds office. I said I'd call me pedi and see what he said. The girls had been so sick we thought we might have to cancel all together and when we left the peds office on Friday, we were told under no circumstances to call them because they wanted no sick girls in Disney. I called and thought the nurse was going to die. She said at least it's a head injury and not sickness! We did not go to the ER. We'll have her checked out on Monday.
