We are planning a December trip, but rumor has it that my son might be going to Iraq later this year. This is to be a whole family trip (which hasn't happened in 11 years!)

If I have to move it to October to make it happen with all of us, what can I expect with crowds, weather, special events, etc. I am looking at the 15th thru the 23rd... but only the United States government knows for sure, so tell me about the whole month!

We went last October from the 17th - 24th. We love that time of year. It is still warm, very warm to us. :goodvibes (We usually have snow by that time.) But the heat wasn't unbearable! The crowds weren't bad at all. We were able to get seated at every restaurant that we chose without any major waits. We don't like to make PS's.

We liked it so much that we'll be going back again from 10/23 - 10/31 this year! :sunny:

Good luck with your planning. My thoughts and prayers are with your son. Tell him thanks for what he's doing for the rest of us!!

We have been twice in the beginning of Oct and the crowds werent bad. This year we are going Oct 22-30.
The good is:
lower crowds
MNNSHP
Food & Wine
Halloween Horror Nights (at universal)

The bad is:
its still pretty hot in Orlando
shorter park hours

4greatboys ~ Where are you staying? We'll be there the same time as you. We're staying at the POLY LVC.

We used to go EVERY October until the kids got too old to pull out of school. It is my favorite time of year there ! It had picked up in crowds alittle bit last few times (the secret was out) but I still wouldn't hesitate to go.

October is usually a very nice month, the later in the month the better, it is one of my favorite times of year down here. You will get to enjoy the Food and Wine festival, they usually have some pretty good bands and the food and wine is always good. The MNSSHP has plenty of nights during the month, usually the humidity starts subsiding and the evenings are very pleasant ( later in the month) the daily rain storms are subsiding and the crowds are thinning, which also means that the park hours maybe a little shorter. If you would like to go to the Food and Wine Festival the best days to do it are during the week, many locals go on the weekends. Also watch for codes for discounts on rooms later in Aut. for the Fall period, last year they were released Aug. 28th. As for the Universal horror nights, I think they are little to much for me, to realistic IMO. but some are into that.

Thanks everyone for the info! I'm feeling better about the possibilty of an October trip. I think the heat scares me more than anything. Felt bad about missing MVMCP, but forgot about MNSSHP!
