The GLBT Haloween thread

We try, decorations, lights, music, we dress up and buy really great candy, but not too many kids go door to door these days. It's really sad! And I live in surburbia! If we get 30 kids we're lucky!

We get swarms of them in my development!

At least if we go to that haunted house in Davenport this year I won't have to buy candy, although I got enough at MNSSHP last night that I could just give that out (not the Kissables, anyone who touches my chocolate risks death).

Mental Note to Self.....
Never touch a Conc's chocolate.

I love Halloween the only time a year i get to scare the crap out of all the kids in the hood.
I go all out on the deco out side.
2 foggers, lights, 7' ghost and much more.
We buy tones of candy and by the end of the night its gone.

My friends and I went to Frightfest at Six Flags Great Adventure last weekend. It was fun.

I'm going to a Halloween party on Sat. I ordered the "Mickey Mouse" costume from disneyshopping, so that's what I'll be.

Boo to you!

How Fun.

Halloween's my favorite holiday too. Not just because of the Candy.

I used to put up lights and stuff but the Kids in our 'hood just don't come out like they used to.

I have absolutely no clue what I'm wearing. My curly red hair and facial hair (which stays, so don't bother suggesting its removal!) kinda limit the costumes I can effectively pull off. My fallback is either Napoleon Dynamite for the third time, or a ninja.

I could also try my zombie doctor again. That was pretty nifty.

How about Dream Finder?

We love love love love this holiday in our house!

We usually go all-out and maybe a bit overboard (last year we had a local politician ummmm just hanging around the house) , we live in a small town and still get around 300 "kids". People call their friends to come see our house. Its always like a mini haunted house but free! Next year we already have planed for an insane asylum complete with patients with glowing iv drips.....oh fun!!

However this year....well....ahh...you see....its like this. We will be at Universal. :rolleyes1

Hah! I have finally decided! I'm going to wear some old work slacks, a white dress shirt, a red tie, and a bunch of corpse paint: an IT Specialist without coffee!

I sent "Shrek" to the store for candy today.

He came home with Necco Wafers.

Do kids these days even know what these are? :confused3

Im going guess....not really :)

On the bright side you may be labled one of THOSE houses over shreks candy choice so you will not have to buy so much next year!:lmao:

Oh Mike -- Necco wafers? I generally love vintage candy -- MaryJanes, Sky Bars, Bit-o-honeys, even candy cigarettes (Boy -- did I ever get in trouble with my daughters-in law on that one! The toddlers and I were all out on the patio perfecting our film noir two finger poses -- well never mind...That's another story...) but Necco Wafers not so much...I'd be seriously worried about a potential TP storm, handing out those, I'm afraid...

Or holding the white Necco Wafers up and acting like a priest on Sunday! Geesh are we a politically incorrect generation or what?

I totally did that! :rotfl2: Love me some Necco Wafers!

And Tuckandstuiesmom, I loved candy cigggies, but NEVER EVER even thought about smoking the real ones. Let your DIL know that they don't lead to smoking (thought I think they did lead to my addiction to altoids, but that's another story.)

Dude, you are so getting egged this year. Necco Wafers? Those things are foul. I suggest you send Shrek out to get a b.b. gun as well so you can protect your homestead from the kids who you give the Necco Wafers to. They are going to seek revenge.

Well as long as we are talking Necco Wafers and Boston, back in the day there was a bar in Cambridge right next door to the Necco Wafer factory. When you left there you not only reeked of cigarette smoke, you smelled like a Necco Wafer! :scared1:

Oh man...that would be a seriously BAAAAAD smell.
p.s. -- I've been thinking about Necco Wafers off and on now for 24 hours and as I recall they all pretty much tasted the same except for the black ones which were slightly licorice-y. (The brown ones -- pseudo-chocolate maybe? were the worst.)

Well kids the day is here!

Dear ole Dad has to be at work at 5 am! :scared1:

Not get up at 5, but at WORK at 5!

And to top it off its raining cats and dogs here!

Hope you have a great one! Behave and eat those Necco Wafers!
