The gayest radio station ever!

I have noticed a change in the radio station on my dial here in Atlanta at 105.7. It used to be a Spanish music station, but it started playing high energy music from today and the past few decades too. It's awesome.

So, I decided to look up their website at lunch today and I found it. If they are trying to be subtle about their appeal to the gay community, um, they missed it. Just take a look at all the rainbow colors!

I am diggin' the play list. Thankfully, I can listen to it online in my office and drown out the stunningly repetative and poorly sung songs on the Christian radio station my coworker blasts from the lab next door.

We recently had a similar switch of one of our radio stations as well. Ours also plays 'music with a beat'.

I think their websites look familiar as well.

Sounds like a fun station, but I think we in Toronto would give it a run for the money for title of "Gayest Radio Station Ever".

It's generally recognized as "the first commercial terrestrial LGBT radio station in the world". ...but I just like it for the pretty music and colours.

I guess I must not really be gay, because I just can't listen to dance music all the time. I find most of the current songs to be blatantly derivative of '70s disco, which I had more than enough of IN the '70s! My musical tastes run more toward classic punk/alt rock, modern indie rock, pop standards, jazz, and Brazilian music. What does that make me?

Oh please don't feel bad. If you could only see the mixture of music in our CD cabinet and on Gabby's mp3 player, you would see that we are all over the place musically. We have classical, jazz, pop, rock, indie, alternative, country, some old school rap, and more. I think at last count we were at just over 600 cd's, but that was about 3 years ago and we continue to add stuff along the way.

The thing that excites me about the addition of The Groove to Atlanta FM radio is that there are Country stations, there are Top 40 stations, there are Christian stations, there is a Mexican station, there are a couple of rock stations, there is an oldies station, there are a variety of R&B stations, the alternative station just rose again from the ashes, and that's it, well, up until now. Finally, there is a little more variety. I feel that it's long overdue.

I like the dance/pop music from the 80's & 90's in particular. It was what I grew up listening to and I turned into an adult with it as the background music of my life. I have attached many memories to those songs over the years. Most of those memories are pretty darn good ones of friends and places mostly long gone, but far from forgotten. I can never hear New Order and not think of Ric, God rest his soul, and I can never hear Frankie Goes to Hollywood and not think of the first woman that stole my heart. (sigh)

I'll have to check it out. Since I got Sirius radio I haven't listened to any of the local stations, but I am thinking getting rid of my satellite radio to save a bit more money.
