The four princesses and a pirate trip report

We managed to drag ourselves out of bed in time for breakfast just after 7 and then had our usual walk to the park for EMH. We arrived about 8.10 and first up this morning was a trip down mainstreet on a bus which was another first for us and gave some great views of the tops of the buildings.

After our ride we headed straight over to Buzz. Jon, Suzie, Olie and the older kids went off to Star tours and I took Evie back on Buzz. Then the other adults fancied a go on Space Mountain so I volunteered to take all 5 children over to fantasyland while we waited. The plan was to ride Peter Pan but when we got there the queue was a bit too long because we wanted to get to the studios for opening so we got in line for the carousel instead. I did get some funny looks walking through the park in a great line with 5 small children:rotfl:

The other adults got back to us just before our turn so once we were off we headed straight over to the studios. Unfortunately the plan went a little bit wrong and by the time we had got into the park and done the obligatory toilet stop and the kids had taken some pictures the park was already open. We still headed to TSPL and managed to ride the parachutes with a 25 minute queue. Jon, Olie, Robyn and Emily headed over to RC racer whilst me Suzie, Hattie, Matthew and Evie took a ride on slinky dog.

We took a bit longer than the others and by the time we came off Emily had been picked to take part in the green army men meet and play. We all watched the end and got some autographs

Next up the men went of to get some fastpasses, they tried TOT but the times weren't convenient so they grabbed some for RRC instead. The rest of us went off on a character hunt. We met Sulley and by the time we got to him the men had returned and we got the only photo of all 9 of us from the whole trip

494.jpg

We finished with Sulley and saw Mary Poppins and Bert were out but by the time we got to the front it was time for them to go. We were just debating what to do next when Peter Pan and Wendy came out. They managed the scrums really well making people stand back and choosing those who were waiting nicely to sign for and have pictures with. After quite a wait all the children had been seen and it was time to head off for RRC. Emily didn't want to ride and none of the other children were tall enough so Jon, Suzie, Olie and Robyn went off to ride and I stayed with the other 4 children.

There were lots of characters about so we were going to try and see some but they were all just going so we watched the train drive off and waited for the others to come back.

When they returned we slowly wandered out of the studios to the village for our 1.00 reservation at the steakhouse. The food was nice but the service was very slow and by the end of the meal the kids were getting restless. By the time we left it was nearly 3.00.

We got back to the disneyland park and it was a priority for Matthew to ride the train so we had a look at mainstreet station but the queue was very long so we decided to check out one of the other stations. We took a slow walk to the fantasyland station where the cast member at the entrance said a 20 minute wait. Unfortunately they got it wrong and we waited well over 45 minutes. Luckily there was this guy to take our mind off the queue

We spent about 45 minutes on the train doing a complete circuit of the park. We got off about quarter to 5 and headed out of the park towards the village for the free pirate and princess meet and greet. On the way to hurricanes we stopped in the disney store to get Emily and Matthew their own minnie and mickey ears. We showed our letters at the entrance and went straight in. I was quite surprised to see that the room was quite dark and they had loud music playing. Despite this we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We met Belle, Aurora, Snow White, Cinderella, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Captain Hook, Mr Smee and Captain Jack. The queues to meet the characters were quite short compared to in the park and we got good interaction.

There were always characters on the dance floor dancing with the kids which was good fun. We had been offered free drinks but didn't expect these to be unlimited as they were and there was also a buffet of sandwiches and cakes:goodvibes We stayed until the party ended and then made our way back to the hotel ready for bed. The kids enjoyed the party and it was great to see so many characters in such a short space of time but it would have been nice if some of the rare characters they had advertised for the party had been there or failing that at least Rapunzel.

That's a really good picture of all of us and we're all smiling!!!

Ahhh look at Matthew - a boy in a sea of girls!!:woohoo:

Suzie.

Once again we were up early for our 7.00 breakfast slot and today we made it to the park before opening:goodvibes. We had promised the kids that Peter Pan would be first up this morning after we missed it yesterday so we headed straight there, followed by Dumbo. We came off the Elephants and the kids all wanted Peter Pan again so we walked back to where we had just come from:rotfl2:. After that we decided to go over to Buzz.

The plan today was to head over to the studios to do shows to avoid the ascension day crowds. By the time we had finished on Buzz it was 9.15 so we wandered back down main street and out towards the studios. The kids had decided that they didn't want to ride crush but they were all keen on another ride on the parachutes so we went to wait for the rope drop at toy story playland. We got straight into the queue and were on and off again in about 15 minutes.

Next we did the studio tram tour and came off just in time to make it to the first stunt show of the day as planned:goodvibes. The stunt show was enjoyed by everyone and we came out to find the meet the disney stars character train arriving. Typically at this point my younger two DDs decided they needed the toilet so we headed off. We returned to find the older children had been marched off by chip and dale and had been having some brilliant character interaction:rotfl2: We managed to go off and meet Daisy and Jessie who seemed to take a liking to my youngest.

Next it was time for lunch and we chose the blockbuster cafe as we were nearby. We had some very nice sandwiches which were good value by disney standards and then went off to get a spot for Stars and Cars. We decided seeing as none of us had seen the show we would try to watch from the front of the stage. We were there nearly 45 minutes early and found a good spot 2nd back from the rope. Suzie, me and the kids sat down and sent Olie and Jon to get toffee apples and ice lollys for the kids puddings. In hindsight this was a rather sticky mistake:confused3. The men were back in no time at all and the food kept the kids occupied while we waited for the show to begin. As the show started we all stood up and the very kind family in front of us by the rope let the children stand in front/next to them at the rope so they could get a good view:goodvibes:worship:. We enjoyed the show but having seen it from the front now I think it would be good fun to be around the back of the stage if we ever saw it again.

Earlier on somewhere we had grabbed some fastpasses for RRC and by the time stars and cars had finished it was time to use them. Olie Suzie and Robyn went off but came straight back because it was closed. Robyn never did get another ride on her favourite. Instead they decided on the next English showing of stitch live. I stayed out as Evie had just fallen asleep in the buggy and desparately needed a nap. Olie got picked as the escapee from space prison:rotfl:. As soon as stitch live finished we neeeeded to head to animagique. I have been trying to see this on all our trips but had never quite managed it before so this time I was determined. The show was so good that Matthew managed to fall asleep :rotfl:

We came out and remembered just in time that today was the day to meet Buzz. We got there and waited in our longest queue of the day (about 25 minutes).

After this we went off to do some shopping so we could get it all packed ready to go home tomorrow:sad1: After spending forever shopping in studio one and getting most of what we wanted it was time to leave the studios to go to cafe mickey.

Cafe Mickey was the best meal of the week. The food was great, our server was very friendly and efficient and the character interaction was brilliant.

Once we had finished eating the music started and our birthday cake came out brought over by pinocchio who was quickly followed by Pluto. Harriet and Matthew were totally surprised and excited but for some reason i have no photos of the cake:confused: Sadly none of us had any room for cake so they happily boxed it up for us to take away and we wearily made our way back to the hotel to finish packing and go to bed.

Glad you saw more characters in Cafe Mickey than we did on the Monday.... i was left a bit disappointed after previous visits. We may do Inventions Next time instead! You made it into alice..... we kept saying 'we'll do that later.... and didn't!' thats for next time too. Great Trip report, lovely to read one from someone who was there at the same time as us. Thanks

really enjoying reading your trip report - sounds like you had a great time!

can you tell me more about the free pirates and princess meet and greet at the hurricanes you talked about - i've never heard of this and it sounded great?

Thanks, I think it is all down to luck. Lots of people had great meals in the cowboy cookout that week but we didn't.

We had booked to go to the pirate and princess party on the 1st of June. When they cancelled the party they organised this meet and greet as compensation.

The plan this morning was once again EMH after an early breakfast. This morning however we had the added complication of packing the cars and checking out. We managed to arrive at the park at 8.15 and it seemed much busier than it had been for the rest of the week. Today was Matthews birthday so he chose Dumbo as the first ride. When we came off we were going to head to Peter Pan but the queue was already 35 minutes and it was only 8.45:scared1: We skipped Peter Pan and everyone apart from Evie and I headed off for a last trip on Star Tours. While waiting I seemed to walk endless laps of discoveryland trying to get Evie to have a nap in the buggy. Eventually she gave in just before the others came off.

So far this week we had not managed to get on Autopia so that was a priority for this morning and the others went straight to wait for it to open. Unfortunately Star Tours had taken a long time (about 50 minutes) and it was already 9.45 and the queue was quite long. Seeing as Evie was asleep I volunteered to do the BTM fastpass run while the others waited. I got out of discoveryland and the main queue for frontierland was all the way back to the hub:scared1: so I went round to the entrance by the end of the arcade and there were only about 10 people in front of me. Even though I didn't rush too much I managed to get fastpasses for 10.50 to 11.20 :goodvibes. As I walked back to wait for the others by Autopia the standby queue was 120 minutes:scared1:.

The others had ridden and were off by just after 10.30 so after the obligatory toilet stop we made our way through the crowds to BTM.

Emily really didn't want to ride again so she stayed with Evie and Olie and they picked up some more fastpasses for BTM and some for Indiana Jones for later. By the time we had all met up we didn't really have enough time to get in any queue before our lunch at Walts so we wandered round into Adventureland and let the kids play in the playground.

934.jpg

935.jpg

We arrived at Walts and they had our birthdays noted on the system and wished the kids happy birthday. We all enjoyed our meals but the meal took over 1.5 hours so we missed our fastpass slot for Indy but we left just in time to make it to BTM. Olie, Suzie, Robyn, Harriet and Evie went for BTM and Jon, me Emily and Evie went off to Snow White as the two girls had been desperate to ride. When we got there the queue said 45 minutes but luckily we were on and off again in about 30.

It was really hot outside and we hadn't yet bought our traditional Christmas decoration so we got out of the sun and went to do our last minute shopping.

Next we decided to split up for our last ride of the trip. Me, Suzie, Emily and Evie went for small world and the others went for pirates. At this point the place was packed and the queues for both rides said one hour:scared1: Suzie and I were lucky and our queue only lasted about 30 minutes but the pirates queue really did take one hour.

On our way out of the park we popped into City Hall to get Matthew his birthday badge and phone call. We made our way through the village grabbing childrens meals and drinks at McDs as the kids all claimed to be hungry.

We then sadly said our goodbyes and made our way back to Calais.

:)You all look like you had a lovely trip :goodvibes

Love your hotel room, that's a really nice surprise.

I've never seen Jessie in Cafe Mickey before - hope that's a regular change.

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed reading that :)
