For those of you who followed my PTR, I am SO sorry I was so slow in starting this! I hope some of you will still read along!

Just a quick intro to get started.

Who:

ME: 25, I'm a stay-at-home mom to my babies, which makes me happier than anything in the world.

SDC11699.jpg

DH: 25, soon to be 26, drives a truck for FedEx, probably more disney obsessed than the rest of us put together. He's the best dad I've ever met and spends every moment he's not working with the kids.

DSC03321.jpg

DS: AKA J.J. or Jay, 3 years, 11 months on our trip. He's a crazy fireball of energy, this one. He knew he loved disney before we got there. And he was right. He loves Chip and Dale. A squeak under 40 inches, to DH's disappointment.

SDC11767.jpg

DD: AKA Sydney or Syd, turned 18 months on our trip. She's trouble. She's a serious climber, and the most stubborn person I've met. Which comes into play. She loves pink, and the princesses. She calls every one of them "Rella" like Cinderella.

DSC02967.jpg

Grandma: My mom came with us for the first half of our trip. She's 60, and likes disney, but not like the rest of us. She wasn't able to come on any of our past trips, so this was her first time seeing disney with the babies.

DSC02604.jpg

What: We were going to WDW, of course! Facelessly, because we have some people to protect the children from. But we took over 1000 faceless pictures, so this won't be a picture-lite trip report.

Where: Staying at Pop Century.

Why: Well, to go, obviously. The brief version of "we deserved it" is that it's been a rough two years since our last trip. I got pregnant with Sydney because we knew my dad had cancer (he had surgery and we believed they got it all) and I knew that cancer often comes back, so I wanted him to have as much time with as many of his grandchildren as possible. My pregnancy with Sydney was difficult (I'm always high risk, but I started bleeding with her at 17 weeks) and my dad died 6 weeks before she was born...she was born on what would have been his 64th birthday. We moved in with my mom a month after she was born because my mother was caring for my grandmother, who had alzheimers and dementia, couldn't walk alone, and needed help with pretty much everything, so we moved in to help her. Plus, to be honest, we didn't want her to be lonely. This past September, Sydney had surgery for a cyst (at 15 months), and my Grandmother died. So, we were ready for a vacation!

When: October 28-November 7th.

Thank you for reading along!

Yeah, life has a way of getting in the way of the dis, unfortunately.

Nice to log on and find you started :) Maybe I'll get around to a TR someday!

Well, you're busy growing that baby, so that's a fine excuse!

I'm here!

Yay! Thanks for popping in!

I want to join in. Man, after reading your post, I would certainly say that you deserved a trip to Disney.

Haha. I know that there are a million people who need a trip more to disney than I did, but it sure felt like I was earning it. :lmao:

Here I am! So glad you've gotten started! :goodvibes

Finally, right? I needed to get started so that I have it lingering over my head that I have a TR out there that needs updating!

I am really hoping to get day one well underway this weekend. I will try my best! :goodvibes

We got up bright and early on Thursday. Before 4 am. Our plane left at 6:15, and all of us, and our luggage, did not fit in the car. I believe we had 6 bags, plus the stroller, plus carry ons. DH had to work, so he was not flying down with us, and he thought he might be running to catch his plane, so he didn't want to have to deal with checking any bags. So DH took Grandma to the airport first, and and I got the kids ready. We woke up J.J. before DH left. He was EXCITED! He's normally a terrible riser, but not today! He knew we were going to DISNEY WORLD! After he got dressed, he helped me wake up Sydney. She was not nearly as excited, but she went with it. By the time we got in the car, she was very excited. Not sure what she was expecting, but she was happy about it!

We made it into the airport, and we looked completely ridiculous moving all our bags one at a time through that little queue for southwest. But, we checked our bags and made it through security in one piece. This was the day before they were going to start using the full body scanners in Buffalo, so I guess we lucked out. We found our gate, and there was a little table waiting for us. Well, for Sydney. Her favorite thing in the whole world is to climb on top of a table and celebrate by dancing and spinning on it. We've actually strapped the chairs to our kitchen table because of it, and she's figured out how to scale the back of the kitchen chairs and get up on the table anyway. It's all about the thrill of the climb. Needless to say, the little table excited her. So, I left the kids to go crazy with Grandma, and got my gate check ticket for the stroller.

After the thrill of the table-climb was over, they noticed that our plane was right outside the window!

DSC02375.jpg

J.J. spent awhile staring at it and pretending to "drive" these chairs like an airplane. Sound effects and all.

DSC02378.jpg

When it got close to boarding time, I took the kids to the bathroom, changed Syd's diaper, and nursed her to sleep in the sling. That actually all went as planned. Once we were on the plane, J.J. donned his headphones since the plane is too loud for him, and we started reading some books. Power Rangers first:

DSC02386.jpg

Then Cam Jansen: The Mystery of the Dinosaur Bones. This was our first Cam Jansen book, and I thought it was really cute.

Finally, when the sun started to peek through the clouds, Sydney woke up. She only slept for about an hour, but an hour is better than nothing!

DSC02394.jpg

We ate snacks, and then the kids colored.

After the coloring was over, Syd started to get antsy. She started climbing over J.J..

DSC02406.jpg

The only thing I had left in my bag of tricks was silly bandz, which worked for a few minutes.

DSC02408.jpg

Somehow, we made it until landing. When we walked into the terminal from the plane, J.J. said, "When I grow up, I will work in this store in Disney World." He was very impressed.

We headed to the fakey monorail. Isn't that something that brings a little joy to your heart? It does mine!

DSC02411.jpg

I'm not going to lie, we got pretty lost looking for Magical Express. And there are lots of signs, and I've done this before, but we got lost anyway. We found it eventually though, and all was well. Magical Express was DESERTED. Last time I flew down to FL, it was on a Saturday and there were kids screaming and running everywhere. This time, no one.

DSC02419.jpg

In fact, we didn't even have to stand in line. We just walked right up to the bus lines and they checked us in there.

DSC02426.jpg

DSC02423.jpg

We didn't wait too long, and Sydney was nursing, and J.J. was intoxicated by the TV they have while you wait. This was our first encounter with a TV that left him unable to do anything but stare at it. I mean, all TV does that, but at home we can turn it off. On our trip, we were pretty much at it's mercy.

Our wait once we were on the bus was longer than our wait in the ME line. J.J. sat with Grandma, and Syd and I sat with some other woman who thankfully was understanding as Sydney kept trying to caress her arm as she fell asleep. :rolleyes1

DSC02428.jpg

They let too many people on the bus, and made us sit there until two people would volunteer to get off and wait for the next bus. :headache: Not volunteering with children, sorry. Finally some wonderful people got off, and we were on our way. There was something up with the video, it was REALLY hard to hear. But that's okay. Our bus first stopped at Caribbean Beach, but it was a fast stop. Then, we were next.

Continued in next post...

We had decided not to do online check-in. I am not sure how the check-in process would have gone if we had done it, but I was very pleased with how it went. It was a very short line. Then the woman at the desk got the kids balloons, and buttons.

DSC02447.jpg

Then, when she found out we were celebrating J.J.'s birthday, she got happy birthday balloons. AND a present. AND more buttons. It was a lot of stuff!

We had forgotten to have our travel agent fax our room request in. We were supposed to be in building four. Not sure where that is, but it's not where I wanted to be. I asked if there was any way we could be moved to the 80s or 90s, first floor, pool view. She worked some disney magic, and there we were! :wizard: 90's, pool view, first floor. Beautiful. Grandma also had the woman at the desk book her a taxi so she could go to church on Sunday. She only booked the way there, and my mom wanted both ways, but she went to concierge later to fix that.

We went in and checked out our room. Grandma thought it was nice. J.J. was jumping on the bed.

DSC02469.jpg

Sydney was climbing on the chairs.

DSC02463.jpg

I was almost jumping up and down myself. THIS made it feel like we had arrived! Our room was great! I hadn't seen pictures of the refurb, so I was surprised when I walked in!

Hidden mickey's in the carpet!

Oh, and how could I forget! This lovely little guy was waiting for us when we arrived!

DSC02454.jpg

As quickly as possible, we rearranged our bags for the park. It was about noon now, and I was itching to get to the park. Someone came with our bed rails while we were getting ready. That was really fast!

We headed to the food court for lunch. This was our first time using the dining plan, but we just asked lots of questions and it was easy.

Grandma had the chicken alfredo.

DSC02473.jpg

I had the Oriental Noodle Salad.

DSC02475.jpg

J.J. had a very hard time eating, because there was a big TV on the wall stealing his attention. I mean, he had the pizza.

DSC02474.jpg

There was only one section in the food court where you couldn't see a TV, so we had to make sure to eat there every time we ate at Pop if we wanted J.J. to actually eat. You can see the TV in this picture of Syd, although she's not interested in TV in the least, so it's not an issue with her.

DSC02479.jpg

For desert, we had some gigantic cupcakes. Yes, they tasted as good as they look!

Up Next: We go to EPCOT!!!

Sounds like a smooth trip there! That's always good! I'm glad you missed the full body scanners. I keep reading about the physical harm the radiation can contribute to and the psychological harm the pat downs can cause, so heaven only knows what we'll have the boys do next time we fly. (We're taking the train to DC, thank goodness!)

The room looks great! I know exactly what you mean about being at the mercy of the TVs. My older son is just like JJ. We rarely have it on in the house before they go to bed. I wonder why there have to be so many TVs everywhere?

EPCOT! Yea!

YOu guys must've been quite the sight with all those bags at the airport. I'm glad you survived the plane ride ok.
That's awesome that you got the room location you wanted!

And you're on your way to the MK? I thought you weren't doing a park on your 1st day?

I'm finally here, my sweet DIS friend! I haven't actually read anything yet, but I will be back at naptime and I can't wait!!

Love the TR so far! We just got back Friday night (stayed at BWV with boardwalk view in a 2-bedroom) and we had a great time! I miss WDW and BWV :sad2: Your kids are SO adorable! Wish I had scheduled a Dis meet on our trip - it would have been fun to meet someone again.

I'm finally made it over here!

Sounds like your trip is off to a great start. Love the refurbished room! It looks so much nicer and not as worn out. :thumbsup2

Okay, all caught up now! It sounds like your trip was off to a great start! :) Your room looks wonderful. Sydney and the chairs/tables is too funny! I'm lucky that has never been an obsession for any of my kids! I can't wait to read more, but competely understand that you are busy. Update us when you can! You're TR is a much needed break in the craziness that is my life these days.
