On this trip:
Me (7th visit):hyper:
Husband (5th time)
Dtr (7 timer, like me) :yay:

Staying at home with Aunt – 15 year old son who’s convinced himself he is too old for Disney.

We set off at the ridiculous time of 12.30 am. The plan had been to go to bed about 6pm Saturday evening and at least get some shut-eye but that didn’t happen so we were all pretty tired. We had an uneventful crossing at 2.55 am – and most of the drive was okay although we did have a small diversion when we took one wrong turn off (but not where people usually go wrong) but by 8.10 we were at Sequoia Lodge and checking in. We walked to the Park at about 9 – it was very cold but we had been prepared and had many layers on and were enjoying the crisp sunny day. Our last 2 visits had been at Halloween and Christmas so it seemed strange to see Main St without either pumpkins or Christmas trees. Nice though, sort of uncluttered. We went to go on Buzz Lightyear first (I do love that ride, think it is my second favourite now after POTC) and then Husband and dtr went on Space Mountain. We noticed people going into the queuing area for Autopia, although it was only 9.50 and it was not due to open until 10.30 – but HURRAY – they opened it early. We have never been on before so we were glad to get on. Nobody ever told me what hard work it was though – I’m used to power steering!

We went over to Fantasyland and into the Fantasy Festival Stage where the show Winnie the Pooh and his Friends Too was about to start. That’s good fun and the audience joined in with their bits with enthusiasm (although it is essentially the same story as Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too – so I already knew the ending!) Then it was time for the first ride on POTC – yo ho and all that. The Park was very busy by this time and we decided not to go on Indiana Jones or Phantom Manor as we had an early lunch booked. We bumped into Goofy, Pluto and Rafiki by Colonel Hathi’s and stopped for a picture.

We made our way back down Main Street and went into the Storybook Store – there was something I needed to see in there. Following that fiendish quiz question set by Ware Bears I had to go in and see the map of the Park showing the 2 attractions never actually built. We went through the Village and into the Steakhouse. I will write a review on the restaurant thread, but if you don’t have time to search I’ll sum it up…..GORGEOUS food, LOVELY atmosphere, EAT there if you can. Lots of character interaction as well.

It was still too early to get our room key, so Husband and Dtr decided they would go on Panoramagique – their only concern was they had eaten so much that the balloon may not take off with them on board.:rotfl: The day was so bright they had lovely views.

We went to Sequoia Lodge then to sit and have a hot drink in the Redwood Bar before going to ask if our room key was available. It was, so we staggered off to our room. Third floor, but no free lake view this time. We were all so tired we just quickly unpacked and crawled into bed. It’s a good job I set the alarm or I think we may have slept through. When I woke Dtr after 2 hours she thought it was morning and got up and went off to clean her teeth and was about to strip to have a shower when I pointed out that it was late afternoon. We all felt much better though and set off for the Park again, going straight to Phantom Manor which had only a 5 minute wait. Dtr and Husband then went on Indiana Jones before we had another ride on POTC. It was 7.30 by now - was there time to get on BTM? Fortunately there was. Husband declared as he got off that it was “Exhilarating. It just gets better each time. Definitely my favourite ride” However he had said this after Indiana Jones and Space Mountain, so we took it with a pinch of salt. It did become one of the sayings of the week though.

It was time to leave the Park, waving goodbye to Mickey, who was standing at Main Street Station waving us off.

We were still tired so we didn’t stop in the Village but went straight back to the hotel and had another hot drink in the Redwood Bar before going up for an early night. We all agreed that we'd had a fantastic day, although we were surprised at how busy the Park had been during the day. It was a good start to the holiday though.

Tomorrow – Dtr revisits Tower of Terror – and Husband gets groped by attractive Italian woman. :scared1: :lmao:

fabulous, thanks for sharing!!!

Brilliant report. Loved the shot of the sequoia lodge from the balloon.

Did you manage to get your room key before 3?

I didn't go to ask until about 2.45 and it was available then. Who knows - if I had asked earlier it may have been ready even then.:confused3

Fantastic report and lovely pictures, can't wait for the next installment - intrigued by the 'groping attractive Italian woman'!

Ditto :goodvibes

Great start and I'm impressed you last for so long, with such an early start.
Another who has never been to the Steak House for the character brunch. Another choice addded to our to do list :thumbsup2

Great report so far. I'm impressed you lasted the whole day as well!

Great first day with lovely photos. Day 2 sounds intriguing:thumbsup2

Wow, your photos are brilliant.. I can't believe how high up you must go in the balloon. I think when we go I'll volunteer to stay on the ground and look after the bags, wouldn,t want the rest of the family to miss out.:rotfl: Can,t wait to read your next report,:)

What a wonderful day! :goodvibes

I did try to take a photo of the poster in the Storybook Store to add onto the quiz answer but it came out blurred with too much glare. Stupidly I didn't bother to check on my camera whether it had come out at the time.

Off to read Day 2, I'm intrigued as well!!
