Where has the summer gone.

Planning on going there on the weekend

:)

Yes the summer has gone and way too fasssst. Were heading to the CNE next weekend. The only good thing about the summer going is my ticker is getting closer to March again :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Heading to the EX on Monday --love going through all the buildings and the flower show is a personal favourite.
Bought tickets via Shoppers drug mart 10.00 each admittance--not bad.
Yeah it does kinda remind me that the summer is coming to an end but plan to enjoy every minute left I have before back to school.
Enjoy
Hugs Mel

Hi there = I know the Ex is great, but it pales in comparison in Disney for just about everything. And, I can't get past the safety issues of a travelling carnival vs. one with permanent structures and technicians whose job is it to ensure the structure is operately smoothly. I'm not a big Ex fan for that reason. It's a good appetizer, though, and maybe that'd tide me over for a bit - but we're headed for the real feast in September!

We are going today! We go opening day every year!

We just got back from the Ex, we too do opening day every year, as we find it is the least crowded then.
Although it was a good day and we had fun, I have issues with it.
For instance, in the kiddy midway area, the rides have height restrictions, fine, I agree for safety reasons, but why was he allowed on a ride last year, and this year he was told he was too small ? (The tiger slide). This happened on more than one ride, in that he was to big, or too small for rides that he has gone on in the past. I will add that he is 7, and under 4 feet tall.
Yet, on the adult midway, he could get on just about any ride he wanted.
I went to guest relations, at kiddy land to discuss this as I had bought an all day play pass and wanted an explation as to what rides he could go on.
I suggested that prior to selling all day passes they provide a sheet of the rides explaining the restrictions.
The food building was empty when we got there at noon, so we secured a table, and took turns going to get food. As in the past the food building is now just a large foodcourt, minus McDonalds, as everyone wants you to buy a combo plate.
I don't want a combo plate, I want to eat different stuff, I like a mix, something from here, something from there, whatever. I want stuff that I don't normally have at home, but I don't want the whole combo.
Oh yeah, and as my husband and I were taking turns taking our son around to get food the family of 19 had slowly invaded our part of the table, virtually giving us no room. until I made a subtle comment.
One definte must see is the area set up by the Armed Forces and Nvay near the Princess Gates, it is an awesome display where the kids can go in a fighter jet, an armoured vehicle, and other things, it is really cool.
And of course the firehall is also cool.

I don't think this was a Disney vs the Ex thread,,JMHO:goodvibes

Oh, so you must have missed the story about the girl who lost her feet at a drop zone type ride at a Cedar Point Park in Ohio.

It was a permenent ride.
And you can't make a compersion to Disney, they are all totally different.

Just got back it was a ghost town tonight. I saw some tumbleweeds roll by. We were in the food building at 7pm and not one booth had a line up. We did enjoy the BeaverTail though :) My BIL has a vendor booth there and business was painfully s-l-o-w. Not sure if the cool weather kept the crowds away. Hopefully business picks up for him.

I don't think you can even pretend to compare the EX to WDW. They are two completely different concepts. One is essentially a community fair and the other a "Theme Park". Apples to Oranges.

I love the Ex. We had a good time. Our favorite is the dog show. My oldest got to race the dogs at the 7:30pm show.
Boy was it windy!!!

It was so windy when we where there that they were talking about cancelling the human cannonball show. We waited around for quite some time, and eventually I think they did cancel it.

I think they should also have a different price for kids 9 and under like WDW LoL but yeah I paid $31 for each of my kids who are 4, 5 and 8yrs old and then bought one for my husband incase 1 of the kids needed or wanted and adult to go on with them as again with hieght restrictions its crazy.

I think its getting way too expensive IF it wasnt for my nephews coming down to stay for a week just to go to the EX I wouldnt bother going and wasting the money we will be heading there the last week with them but yeah they should give cheaper fees for little kids as theres not alot they can go on or do a family of 4 ticket price.

It did go, however we were in the Farm building and didn't get to see it, but heard it.:lmao:

Too bad you let baseless fears get in the way of enjoying a travelling carnival ride.

The installation and operation of such rides is governed, in the province of Ontario, by the Technical Standards and Safety Act, Ontario Regulation 221/01. The law requires various permits relating to the ownership and operation of these attractions -- including several regulations relating specifically to the installation and inspection of these attractions.

Each attraction must be inspected by a licensed inspector each time it is installed. The owners must provided the Ontario government with detailed records relating to the specific ride -- including installation and maintenance manuals and records and a detailed schedule of where each attraction will be installed each year. This permit must be renewed on an annual basis.

This is all to say -- the rides at the CNE were last inspected within the last week. All the nuts and bolts required to keep the ride together and safely functioning were accounted for at that time. The CNE cannot operate these attractions without such inspections.

I enjoy my time at Walt Disney World as much as the next person -- perhaps even more than the next person -- but are you able to tell me, within a 5 day window, the last time an inspector went over each attraction at Walt Disney World?

I think the CNE and other travelling carnivals are quite safe, perhaps even safer than permanently installed rides.

Well, you obviously weren't waiting for a goat roti with me at Island Foods!!:lmao:

Just jazzing ya, eh? A tad windy but a nice start....

It's nice to take it all in when it's not packed. We either buy an OP pass to go many times or many Shopper's Drug Mart passes. I like going in and out as we live downtown. This year we decided on a combination of SDPs and waiting for midweek.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are only $5 for entrance this year if you enter after 5pm. And for those with children... Mondays are only $2 for children. I think it's Mondays...check that.

Too bad they scrapped the "comeback opening weekend" special that they've had for the last couple of years. I did notice a difference in attendance yesterday. Probably a coincidence. But in the last couple of years if you came any time during opening weekend you would be able to use your pass for another admission any time during the Ex.

I thought it was win-win. We would go many times during the opening weekend and get extra passes. And like Disney once you get them in that's where the money is.....

Our original DVC guide used to tell us that, "we just want you to come back time and time again and spend money". Oh boy he was right:lmao:

Nope, Mucho Burrito which was yummy! It was so windy a huge tree branch came down right by my BIL's booth. Crazy.

Ahh, Island foods, that is the place to buy Jerk Chicken. I get it every year.
I have a set menu when I go to Ex, and it is foods that I can't have at home.
Well let me tell you, in the past there has been a Mexican place, I think called Los Pocos, or something similar but he hasn't been there for a couple of years now.
I found a taco place today, it was an extension of Mr Pita, I can only buy 2 tacos for $6.00 bucks. I only want 1.
So I buy the tacos, and they are the worst tacos ever, I mean ever.
The food building name needs to be changed to food court because that is all it is.
I am not interested in freebies, I just want a bit of this and that.
Can't get that cause everyone is selling combo plates.
