Has anyone ever done one of these?

We're driving down to Orlando tomorrow to do one of the rooms at The Escape Game. There are a bunch of different places that do these things in Orlando, so we picked the one with the highest reviews.

We did Mad Scientist when we were there in August. It was so much fun once we got the hang of it but we started off slow. I Definately will do this again next time we are there. The people who ran the game and the owner himself were so nice. Have fun

We had a blast!

We ended up with another group. We didn't finish (we were a couple of clues away) but man, some of those puzzles were tough! We're going to do another one in a couple of weeks, when we're down in Orlando again.

Which room did you do? We did Heist and Classified, also with other groups. We managed to finish both, just barely. The other group in our first room had done Escape Game before and helped set the tone. You really have to get into the spirit of the game immediately and get busy on the clues. Heist was our favorite. My 8-year old daughter did not like Classified as much, because it is darker and has somewhat scary content. We hope to go to Orlando soon to do one or both of the other rooms (Prison Break and Gold Rush).

We did Heist. We had 5 other people in there with us (who hadn't done it either---one set of grandparents, mom and two kids), and the grandparents were NOT into it at all. The grandpa kept saying "I told her (pointing at granddaughter) she was in charge even though she didn't have experience." Over and over. The kids and mom were trying, though.

Wish I had seen this earlier! Glad you had fun, @Bianca and Bernard!

DBF and I have done multiple escape room games in central FL - The Escape Game Orlando, America's Escape Game, Escapology, MindQuest Live, It's A Trap, and 3 others in FL (but not in the Orlando area). Needless to say, we love escape room games!

To anyone else reading this thread and interested in booking one, look for deals on Groupon or LivingSocial. From time to time, they will have them. Also, MindQuest Live and Escapology are the only 2 in the Orlando-area (so far) that let you book exclusive rooms.

I've done approx. a dozen different escape rooms so far. Needless to say, we love them lol

Oh my! I didn't even know there was such a thing until about an hour ago when I was searching for something to do for my anniversary next year.

My family loves playing games together (Catan, Forbidden Island) and I know we are going to love this. It will be me, my hubby and my daughter will be 12 when we go.

For those of you that have been before do you have a reccomendation for first timers with a child. I'm leaning towards the one with the Egyptian theme?

TIA!

There are several companies. We've done three of the experiences at The Escape Game: Heist, Classified, and Gold Rush. My daughter, age 9, liked Heist best, and I think it was the best for children (primarily because the rooms weren't quite so dark). Gold Rush would be next, then Classified. Classified had the darkest room and a terrorist theme; my daughter thought it was a little scary.

Do they change these out often? We won't be going until next year.

Do either of you have a favorite place or room?
Have either of you been to Escape Key?

I don't think so. We first went last summer, and they had Heist, Classified, and Prison Break. They have since added Gold Rush, and kept the other three.

I think you are referring to The Lost Tomb of Monthu at America's Escape Game? We have not done that one yet, so unfortunately we cannot comment. :) Our favorite companies in the Orlando area are The Escape Game Orlando and Escapology.

You will have a great time!

As JaxDad said, they are not changed out that often. In general, it seems that most companies add more rooms than replace them.

Our favorite place is The Escape Game Orlando and Escapology. We have indeed been to Escape Key (closer to UCF)! In Orlando - so far - they only have the Computer & Technology Theme room. Not as elaborately themed as our favorites, but we still had a great time and had lots of things to solve. :)

I've done Cuban Crisis with my sister
aside from that room my sister has also done Arizona Shooter and Shanghied
all at Escapology

Yes, that's the one I was looking at. Theme wise I think it would be my families favorite. It's 85% failure rate is scaring me off. I'd like a better chance of escaping on our first try.

I'm now looking at either the Diamond Heist at Mind Quest or The Heist at The Escape Game.

Thanks for the replies.:D

I understand about wanting to escape on your first try! There have been a couple rooms that DBF and I were not able to escape from. But for the majority of them, we have escaped within the hour. :)

From personal experience, I can say that those two rooms you are considering are both very fun.

You're welcome! :)
