Hello there~
Heres my attempt at a pre-trip report, even though Im not really the one planning this trip. This will be my familys fifth trip to Walt Disney World, which has been our destination of choice since 2002.
A bit of history.. Our first trip to the World was planned as a once in a lifetime trip. We were scheduled to go in September, but my sister broke her arm and elbow (she fell off the monkey bars
), so we rescheduled to early December. We couldnt believe it when we learned of a second vacation planned for December of 2004.
Our third vacation in October 2006 came about when we had been considering going to Virginia, which turned into thinking about Toronto One night, my mom and sister went to pick up dinner from Taco Johns and brought home a churro for a little surprise dessert. As I ate it, I commented, This isnt as good as the ones in Mexico in Disney World A quick glance around the dinner table and I could tell we were all thinking the same thing: Were going back to Disney World. Our fourth and most recent trip came about when we were trying to plan a general family vacation / graduation trip for me. We had originally wanted to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise, but soon realized that a week at sea would cost twice as much as more than a week at Disney. So off we went, for the last week of October 2007.
Our fifth trip is planned for October 10-20, 2009 at Port Orleans French Quarter. Originally, I wasnt even going to go. This will be my sophomore year of college, and I simply cannot miss that many days of class. I took another look at my schedule, and realized that I can work it out so I only miss two days of class and am able to go for 5 nights, 6 days. I will fly down (by myself
) on the 15th, join my family for the rest of the trip, and fly back with them on the 20th.
I suppose now is as good a time as any to introduce the cast of characters for this trip..
Theres my mom, the planner, ADR-maker, overseer of the vacation. Mom practically melts in heat and humidity, so shes pretty much awesome for willingly going to Florida at any time of the year. Theres my stepdad (DSD for short), who married my mom in 2000. He enjoys Disney, but I think hes getting burned out, seeing as this will be our fifth trip there, and weve gone practically nowhere else.
I have a younger sister, Shelby, who is 14 now but will turn 15 before the trip. She loves Disney as much as I do. We both freak out randomly when things are awesome and go our way, like figuring out EMH nights, finding the best new souvenir, or just anything completely random. You can definitely tell were sisters. I also cant say anything bad about her, since she has her own account here on the Dis.
Love you!

on our last trip..
And last is me.. Im 18 and just completed my freshman year of college. If you had asked me a few years ago, I would have honestly thought Id eventually outgrow trips to Disney World, but now I think the exact opposite thing. I end up loving Disney more each time I visit. I also wish I could do more planning, but its not *my* trip. Im just here to report what happens with the family and whatnot.
That's quite enough for this installment.. Sorry for the wall o' text, and congratulotions
to those who actually read this :]
Next time, I'll talk about our planned ADRs.. Mom gets to make those on July 12th!
