The End of the World? Who Cares? We are at the House of Mouse!

Where in the World?

IMGP5204.jpg

Any guesses on this one? :confused3

I am hoping to get the next chapter up this week. :yay:

Our guess is Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom.

Your grandson is too cute doing his Jedi training. I think he must be pretty serious about the whole thing!

Thanks also for the great review of the Dessert Party.

Yes, he is indeed very serious about his Star Wars stuff. He even said he did NOT want to wear his robe for Halloween because "Halloween is for pretend dress up. My robe is real." :lmao:

And, keep trying on those ressies. I had to keep checking a couple times a week and lucked out to get the day I did. They go very quickly when they do open the ressies. But it is worth the effort. I hope you get a table up front too.

Where in the World?

Since I am closing in on the final chapter of my TR, I thought I would post several pics for your guessing fun.

Dropped the ball on my TR "research" for a while but made it back to catch up on yours. Loved it! Thanks for sharing.

One question- is tha path behind the tree in AK a rough trail or is it stroller friendly? I need calm places to wander when my little ones are sleeping and I'd love to see this.

Those desserts look amazing, it will definitely be fun to do an adult trip someday.

Thanks for joining us! :cool1:

Yes, the trail is stroller friendly and would be a perfect place for napping. There are several benches throughout for you to kick back and rest too. I just hope it doesn't get "discovered" by too many people. Right now it is very quiet and you run in to very few people. You can get to it by turning left out the exit after the Bugs 3D or by the entrance across from Pizzafari or by the entrance behind the Bugs fast pass machines. Have fun!:thumbsup2

Off to my first day of work at ... the Disney Store!!! What a place for me to work, right? DH warned me not to leave my entire paycheck at the store. :lmao:

It is only a seasonal position here in Maryland and doesn't pay much, but hey, it's a job and I have been searching for what seems like forever. Three years and no luck in my career field, so it's time to try another avenue.

Chapter Eleven: Really? It’s over already?

This chapter is light on words but heavy on photos. This is my truly boohoo day … our last day at the World. I don’t wanna goooooooo!

Oh man. This is the day I have been dreading since day one. Such an empty feeling knowing we have to say goodbye for another year. Makes you want to pull the covers over your head and pretend you don’t know.

aIMGP1317.jpg

Well, we slept in until about 9 a.m. and could not put it off anymore. The sooner we are out of this room, the sooner the next family can get in. After I was packed and showered, Leo hopped in the shower and I went out on the deck to relax for the last few minutes. I don’t wanna gooooooo!

Finally, having no more excuses, we finally packed it up and were out the door by the 11 a.m. check out time. Car packed, final check of the room made and our silent goodbyes said, we headed out.

aIMGP4398.jpg

I hate all those goodbye signs on the way out. Funny how you never notice them any other day. I don’t wanna goooooooo!

The only good thing about the day is that we aren’t hitting the road just yet. We headed to Downtown Disney for a few hours.

aIMGP4402.jpg

It has become our tradition to hit DTD on our last day. This not only gives us one last shot of Disney before heading home, but gives us the chance to get those forgotten or last minute souvies. In my case this year, it was one last chance to find that ever elusive 40th anniversary Minnie.

My first stop is always the Christmas Shoppe. And this year the hubby was crazy enough to let me loose in there all by myself. Silly him. Of course, he is lucky I was at the end of my souvie money and didn’t go too too crazy. Just a little crazy.

With my treasures in hand, I stopped over at the pin hut to pick up a few limited edition pins before scooting over to the Disney Store. I wanted to get in there before Leo came back and tsk, tsked me for my purchases. After all, he was over at the new vinylmation store going crazy himself. By the time we finally left, he had about 15 of the silly things.

Anyway, I don’t know how long I was wandering around being jealous of those who had obviously just arrived and just looking aimlessly trying to stretch every last minute. As I made my way around a corner and through a crowd, there she was!!! Up towards the top of a circular rack sat about six 40th anniversary Minnies! And, yes, Rosemary. That is exactly what you think it is under Minnie's feet. Perfect match, don't ya think?

After inspecting all six and picking out the most perfect, I nearly danced my way to the teller.

All checked out and thrilled to have my Minnie tucked safely under my arm, I headed out to meet Leo. I don’t wanna gooooooo!!!

We caught up with each other and reluctantly decided we couldn’t put it off anymore. Well, maybe just a bit more. We stopped for a quick lunch. I wish I could remember where we ate. I think it was a new place … maybe even where McDonalds use to be. Not sure. I just remember it was some pretty good chicken.

Anyway, after lunch we headed to the car. I don’t wanna goooooooo!!!

On the way past the Disney Store, I noticed a lady sitting on a bench with the coolest umbrella. It was black with a Mickey face on it and big Mickey ears sticking up off the top. It was so damned cute I just had to go ask her where she got it.

IMGP5824.jpg

Much to the hubby’s dismay, she got it right there at the Disney Store, but you had to ask at the counter for it. It was not out with the regular merchandise. Done and done! Now I proudly walk in the rain with my very own Mickey ears umbrella. It does get a reaction here at home.

With all our bundles, we finally made it to the car and, with one stop for gas and ice, we were on the road by about 2 p.m.

I don’t wanna goooooooo!!! Wait, I think I have said that already.

Can anyone tell me why Leo would put $29.94 worth of gas in the car? Why not just splurge with that extra .06 cents! Yet another question for which there is no answer. And another question: why the heck does that bother me?? I just can’t stand anything uneven or out of place.

I took the first leg of the drive and handed the camera to Leo. And he took pictures of everything on the way out. And I do mean EVERYTHING. Glad it’s a digital and not film.

aIMGP4422.jpg

The drive was pretty sad and uneventful. It had none of the joy and excitement of the trip down. We were, however, happy about getting home to our kitties. And before you think of us as ogres for not being excited to see the family … they were still down at Disney for the rest of the week.

When we stopped for the night, we realized why Disney was so crowded this week. A couple of guys in the hall were talking about the end of the world. Oh yah! I forgot that, according to the Aztec calendar, today was suppose to be the end of the world. But after 10 days at Disney, what a way to go.

The last leg of the trip home was long and boring, but we finally made it home safe and sound.

Now starts the Disney withdrawal and depression. At least writing this TR has made it easier … and has brought me to less than six months until we go back. Plus, it gives me the opportunity to talk about the trip to people who actually want to hear about it. Most of my friends and family here turn all glassy-eyed when I start talking Disney. Guess you just have to be a fellow Disney freak to enjoy the stories.

Well, until next year … have a very Disney and magical year!!!!

Here are photos from throughout the trip that didn’t make the cut … or, at least, I don’t remember posting them before.
