Yes, that is true everyone! From a very reliable source, the Swan/Dolphin will be discontinuing the Resort Fee charge at the resort.

There will, however, be seperate (al la carte) charges for the amenities that were once included in the resort fee-such as: health club fee, internet, etc. These amenities will be priced seperately for those guests who wish to utilize them rather than one bulk charge for all guests.

And there will still be the daily parking charge for all guests staying at and visiting the resort.

The rollout date is tentatively sheduled for July 28th. But as with everything that can change and be pushed back.

So those of you with reservations for the late summer and beyond, have just freed up a little extra spending money!!!!!

Cool! I didn't mind it too much before, but this is icing on the cake since I don't use the Health Club or internet & bring my own coffee.

this sounds good.I was watching TRAVEL SPIES and they were asking the manager about what the heck resort fees were anyway,,,HE said"full use of all the activities, etc,,,gratuiites for housekeeping....and some other stuff that I forgot..I would rather NOT have this one my bill.I dont see how you can say your room price comes with all of this when they charge you.I rarely get to use any of the hotels activities,whataver..I tip housekeeping well and I BUY my coffee(room coffee in those lil coffee makers is never very good.....hope this is a trend other places will pick up as well.

Daily parking charge? We didn't pay when we stayed last June.

Yes, there's a daily parking rate now of $7/day. They put it straight to your room and they code your room key so you use your room key to open the parking gate.

They started in May of this year, I think. We were there early June this year and yeah... it was on our bill. sucks.

This is great news. I'm starting to plan a Spring trip and like the Dolphin & Swan but like many others, don't really use the amenities. Since there appears to be a lack of discounts for the general public at Disney, I'll look into D/S rates!

I really didn't mind the $10 resort fee because we did read the newspaper, use the coffee maker and my DH and boys like the gym there. I always brought my own coffee however. I wonder if I'll have to ask for the coffee maker and what the daily rate would be to use it?

The parking fee still irks me a little, but I'll get over it!

:teeth: :teeth: :sad2: I never understood why you had to pay for things that most hotels include as a courtesy. The hotels I have stayed at leave the newspaper at your door and they have internet access if you want it and the gym is free to use. Those are the perks for staying at that particular resort. To make you pay for that fee up front whether you use it or not is rude and that is why I never stayed at the swan or dolphin. I am glad they have come to their senses! :

That is great!! We enjoy the S/D so much and never had time for the gym or newspaper (at WDW we'd rather not know what is happening in the RW!!) We did, however, use the coffee maker. Thanks for this info!

Hooray! This is great news. :) Thanks for the update!

This is good info, but they need to waive that parking fee for resort guests. Ugh.

That's good news. Swan/Dolphin are on my list of must-stay-at resorts. I hated the idea of that resort fee. Well, now I don't like the parking fee. But I guess I'll get over that. :flower:

I'm very glad to hear that they will be discontinuing the "resort fee". My three children and I will be staying at the Dolphin for Thanksgiving (our first "non-Disney" resort stay :ssst: ) and I got a good discount, but was a little put off by the resort fee (won't use the health club, won't read the paper, bring my own coffee...). Will they still have coffee makers in the room, though? If not, I will plan to bring my own. If anyone knows the 411 on this, please post. Thanks!!

I wonder if they will just raise their rates $10???? And then, on top of raising the rates...charge you separately for the amenities? Then.... the joke is on US! LOL!

I agree 100%! If you're spending hundreds of dollars per night, these things should be included.

The problem with the resort fee is the Disney deluxe resorts next door don't charge one. The problem with the new policy is the Disney resorts now give free coffee in the rooms, free newspaper, free health club and free parking.

S/D should base their policies on what Disney does with their deluxe hotels NOT with what other Starwood resorts do.

Well said! We have stayed in many Starwood resorts and not paid for parking and a newspaper.
