The Empty Nesters Magical Mystery Tour *1/28* Link to New Girl's TR p141

Mary Ellen - Can't ride SE too many times! LeCellier looks delicious. We have not been in several years now. Hmmm....maybe a choice for this fall.

Rebecca

Well, I was told one of my options for that round of illness was...... death. I'm glad everything turned out well for both of us, and I do have a new compassion for people who have long-term illnesses. It could get really depressing to be down and not feeling well day after day.

UGH - I knew you were very ill when they would not release you from the hospital. Pneumonia can be SO serious. Thank goodness you got treated when you did.

I know what you mean about people who have a chronic illness. That it why I thank God every day that I am healthy and able to do the things I do. I never want to take that for granted!

We have been blessed to stay at many Disney resorts, as well. Each one has its own unique atmosphere, and I love seeing the landscaping, pictures, furnishings, etc. of each one. Although I have visited all resorts except Shades of Green, I am still lacking actually staying at GF, Poly, Contemporary, Bay Lake, Coronado Springs, Caribbean Beach, OKW, and POR.

I agree - they are all wonderful and a lot of that has to do with their uniqueness. I still have a few to cross off my list, but unless they have DVC rooms I won't get to them. I have stayed at all the mods and all the values except AoA and ASMovies. I hope I get to stay at both of them someday.

We're thinking we might stay at OKW for at least part of the March trip, but that has not been decided for sure. We might get a suite at AoA again, or we might even try a Music suite. We've stayed at Music a few times, but not at a suite, and I like the fact that those suites have doors that open to the outside. My claustrophobic self likes a room that opens to the great outdoors as opposed to a hallway. ;)

You would LOVE OKW. It's awesome. The 2BR is SO big and it opens outside. Denny feels the same way. He would much rather open to the outside then a hall. I absolutely loved OKW in May and I hope that someday my whole family ill want to travel with me again so I can get a 2BR there. :thumbsup2

Great updates Mary Ellen...glad that that GI issues are under control, internalizing stress can do it and sometimes you don't even notice until it's gotten bad (as you now well know!)

You just hit the nail on the head. I kept telling myself I was imagining it. Once I finally admitted that there was a problem it became a lot easier to get treated. Looking back I realize now I was a complete ball of stress during that time. So glad those days are over!

I'm so excited that you're doing the PHM and can't wait to see pics from that report. I'm planning on doing it in 2016 as part of my Coast to Coast for that year.

I am really looking forward to it! It's really going to be a new experience for me.

Yay for the Coast to coast! That is REALLY exciting!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I agree about steak, while I do order one every now and then when I'm at a nice steakhouse, I barely even think about it when I'm considering what I'd like to eat!

It's nice to have a really good steak every once in awhile. There really isn't anything like it and it really ends up being a treat for me simply because I don't eat a lot of meat. So when I order a steak I really want it to be a good one.

Love the pics from SE. I'm with everyone else, you can't have too much SE. :cool1:

Sorry you didn't like your meal at Le Cellier as much as you did before but glad you had an overall enjoyable meal.

I have only been there once in 2010 but we really liked it. I had a salmon dish that was to die for. It was really pricey, we went at lunch and it was over $100 before tip and this was with Tim's free dessert (it was his B-Day). We paid OOP or it but we had a $500 gift card that we used for TS meals that trip (it was an awesome promotion that they were doing at the time).

I plan to stop at the Canada Booth and get some of that soup when we are there for our Sept/Oct trip. We are doing lunch at F&W one of the days. Can't wait! :yay:

Hope you have a great trip to Williamsburg! :)

Your pics are wonderful.

Too bad that steak didn't taste as good as it looks because it looks amazing! We still have yet to try Le Cellier.

Spaceship Earth is brilliant in my opinion, love the pics. :thumbsup2

That IS a pretty window at AKL. I can see why you love it.

Sounds like a really nice final night at EPCOT.

Add me to the list of Spaceship Earth lovers, and thanks for all of the pictures. I rode on Monday and my pictures, in a word, suck!

Been a few years since we have eaten at LC. Denny's meal does look awesome.

Thought of you while I was in Morocco. The past few trips I have gone on an expedition to find the "thing" in that pavilion. Just can't locate it. Is it still there? Where? I think someone once said it is in the back. I didn't realize it would be so hard (to find).

Have a great trip to Williamsburg!

:goodvibes

MaryEllen, (in no particular order ;)

1. Your 2013 sounds like the beginning through my mid 2014 :sad2:

2. Williamsburg is so much fun- I hope you really enjoy it...

3. Going back to conquer this novel of a TR... I'm pretty sure this is the current one???

Missed "talking" to you here on the boards...

Apologies on replies not needed, MEK. We all get those no time to DIS moments.

And don't you hate when that happens? :rotfl: I mean, we should all be able to DIS whenever we want to, right?

You can never have enough pictures of Spaceship Earth...a favorite. Would you believe I have NEVER noticed that Mouse Trap game. I'm going to be sure to point that out to Mark next month because I doubt he has ever noticed it either.

I never noticed it either until I saw it in Poolrat Pat's TR. Ever since then I have been trying to get the perfect picture, but it just hasn't happened. It's small and its dark back there.

I'm glad dinner was a success at LeCellier. But I'm with you...I was not happy that you can no longer make substitutions, etc., and our filet in 2011 just was not good...especially for the money they charge (we took Andy that year and we've not been back since).

It wasn't a bad filet, it just wasn't what I remember. That filet used to be SO good. I am super picky with steak because I don't naturally love it (Cover your ears Mark!!!!) so I remember a good steak when I have one.

If I don't get back here, have fun in Williamsburg.

Thanks Kathy! I am sure we will! ::yes::

I am so glad you found the source of the stomach issues and it got solved!!!!

Thanks Pat! I was too! Once I got on the right medication it was great to feel better again! :good vibes

What a dreary day in MK. Only so much sloshing around you can do. I do believe I have a Jan 1st day at MK that looks a lot like yours. ;)

Ugh - that was A LOT of rain! That was my first experience with major rain. I've heard it happen to people, but I completely dodged the bullet until then. :headache:

YAY for an EPCOT rebound. :cool1:
I too have not been to LeCellier since they went signature and my only hope for the potatoes would be an allergy to the risotto?

Wow - never thought about the allergy thing. :rotfl2: That might work! :rotfl2: I cracked up when I read this the other day! I really didn't like the risotto much at all and those potatoes were SO yummy!

I am glad your friends were enjoying the time at WDW. I look forward to hearing about what you did next.

They had a great time! It was really great to see them having so much fun!

:thumbsup2

Take Chris - at exactly 48 inches plus some hair, he rides everything, including: all water rides, Everest, Gibson Les Paul and the Rock'in Roller Coaster, Hotel Hollywood and some Orange Mission to Mars - he has concluded that all rides at MK are kind of wimpy and prefers the smaller parks for their higher octane attractions and crowd control.

Another ride on SE and I'm thinking about the pictures coming, and I have never been more disappointed! :(

:confused3:rolleyes1

I mean, I have probably tried to capture every one of those scenes you got and have never gotten a single picture I even considered posting...... and once again you post one right after another! Thanks for the humiliation.......

Stop! I am sure I have gotten plenty of pictures on that ride. I know Pat has. She's the one who discovered the mouse trap!

Haven't done LeCellier since it went to signature dining at dinner, except for lunch. Sorry you didn't enjoy the steak as much as in the past. F&W has a small version at the kiosk which was really good, and a whole lot less........ :rotfl2:

I enjoy lunch at Le Cellier. They used to have an amazing prime rib sandwich. SOOOOOOO good. Funny that I have never tried anything at the F&W kiosk. Actually - yes I did, but it wasn't the filet.

I guess maybe I should have tried it again for dinner with TIW. Might have to add it back on the list......... :scratchin

I'd like to head back for lunch again sometime. I just keep remembering how great it used to be back in the original days of free dining.

:woohoo: for Disney magic!!! pixiedust:

My favorite kind of magic! pixie dust:

Never too many SW pictures and oh I do love Canada!

:thumbsup2 Canada is my favorite country to visit for some quiet reflection. I love that pavilion. It's one of my favorite!

Bummer about the steak, I've never been and I have to say I am not dying to try. Never been quite able to figure out why either.

I'm surprised you haven't been there once. It really used to be the "go to" restaurant in the World Showcase. The food used to be so awesome. Not just the beef, but I have had some nice seafood/fish dishes as well. I think those days are gone.

We DID have some lovely lovely meals in May!

OMG! Did we EVER! :cool1::cool1::cool1: The shrimp and grits was SO amazing and I absolutely loved the sushi. I still think about how great that was.

Hope you are having a great time in Williamsburg

We leave Saturday and I am sure we will. I'm looking forward to it because its really my "go to" local vacation spot.

Thought of you while I was in Morocco. The past few trips I have gone on an expedition to find the "thing" in that pavilion. Just can't locate it. Is it still there? Where? I think someone once said it is in the back. I didn't realize it would be so hard (to find).

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I am snorting at the last line---- yes I am 12... :rotfl2:

You need to walk around the back of the pavilion near the restaurant.
Look Back toward the front and

:)

I never noticed it either until I saw it in Poolrat Pat's TR. Ever since then I have been trying to get the perfect picture, but it just hasn't happened. It's small and its dark back there.

I got a picture of it??? :confused3 :rotfl2: It is dark and probably blurry. :lmao:

Thanks Pat! I was too! Once I got on the right medication it was great to feel better again! :good vibes

Amazing how knowing what the problem is and getting medicine to start solving it does.

Ugh - that was A LOT of rain! That was my first experience with major rain. I've heard it happen to people, but I completely dodged the bullet until then. :headache:

Imagine August.... ;)

Wow - never thought about the allergy thing. :rotfl2: That might work! :rotfl2: I cracked up when I read this the other day! I really didn't like the risotto much at all and those potatoes were SO yummy!

I know I don't like it so I guess I need to see the ingredients...

Looked them up and could pull the garlic card...... Potatoes don't have it but the risotto does. Hmmmmm

Stop! I am sure I have gotten plenty of pictures on that ride. I know Pat has. She's the one who discovered the mouse trap!

I did??? :rotfl2:

We leave Saturday and I am sure we will. I'm looking forward to it because its really my "go to" local vacation spot.

YES - Have a great time and relax.

So glad you were feeling better Mary Ellen!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Oh those giraffes, they're so gorgeous. Especially that baby!

Aren't they wonderful! I just think they are such cool animals.

Hahaha breadcrumbs! I can just imagine. One thing I'm not looking forward to this year is just that -- the parking! I've never had to worry about it before!

I was seriously worried about finding the car again. That could have turned out very bad. Yup - staying at the BWV definitely spoiled me. I totally forgot to consider the parking!

I do LOVE Spaceship Earth. I could look at pics from it allllll day. :thumbsup2

Me too! :thumbsup2

Beautiful pictures of Canada!
Last time we ate at Le Cellier Johnny said the same thing about the lesser quality of the steak. :sad2:
I am glad that dinner was deemed a success though! :thumbsup2

Nice - I like the way you did that - Canada! :rotfl:

It's a relief to see that other people have had a similar experience. Oh Le Cellier - why did you used to be so good. You've spoiled us all! :rolleyes1

Oh gosh, I missed the update about your tummy troubles. Sucks you had to deal with that in Disney and miss out on park time, but I'm glad you got the right meds so you could enjoy the rest of your trip and feel better long term.

In the long run getting treated while I was there was the right thing to do. The protonic worked in no time . I really couldn't have gone back to work like that so I'm glad I decided to get treated sooner.

The dishes look so pretty at Le Cellier. We have still never eaten there, and I doubt we ever will since it just keeps getting more and more expensive. Too bad it didn't taste as good as you remembered, though.

It used to be one of the best, if not THE best, meal on property. It's just a shame its gotten so much more expensive while the quality has declined. It's a bummer no matter how you look at it.

I have only eaten at LC once and it was super salty...and I am a saltaholic...but it was just not good. I won't go back now...too high priced and I am not going to take that chance again.

Wow - is that like 3 or 4 comments on the food being too salty. Always so glad to know that I am NOT crazy. I like salt too, but not that was just absurd! It will probably be a while before I head back there.

Mary Ellen - Can't ride SE too many times! LeCellier looks delicious. We have not been in several years now. Hmmm....maybe a choice for this fall.

Rebecca

I agree with you about SE. Love that ride. :thumbsup2

We enjoyed our meal at Le Cellier. My meal was a little too salty, but overall it was an enjoyable evening.

Do you have a September trip coming up? NICE!

Sorry I didn't finish replies tonight, but I should be able to get to them tomorrow night!

Mary Ellen - Hello! Tomorrow is move Connor back to Lehigh day. He is ready. Sounds like Nick is too.

We had booked a BB offer in April for YC October 17-22. Hoping those are still our dates but need to figure work load with new job I started in June.

Rebecca

Oh man....way too many easy comments to make....I tell myself to not say anything and that little devil voice (okay, it's not so little!) keeps telling me to "Say it...SAY IT!!!"

No....I'll get out of character and not say anything....sighhhhh.

I hate growing up! :sad2:

Love the pics from SE. I'm with everyone else, you can't have too much SE. :cool1:

:thumbsup2 I just love SE. It's such a classic. I could ride it over and over again! :good vibes

Sorry you didn't like your meal at Le Cellier as much as you did before but glad you had an overall enjoyable meal.

Overall it was a fun meal and we all had a great time. My only complaint was it was a little salty, but apparently I'm not the only person who thinks that.

I had a salmon dish there the very first time I ate there. That was years ago, but it was fabulous! Loved it! :good vibes Sounds like we may have had the same thing.

I remember that gift card promotion. That really WAS a nice deal!

I plan to stop at the Canada Booth and get some of that soup when we are there for our Sept/Oct trip. We are doing lunch at F&W one of the days. Can't wait! :yay:

Sounds perfect. Snacking around the kiosks for lunch is really fun. I love it but before you know it you can spend a bundle. Disney is really good at getting you to part with your money that way!

Hope you have a great trip to Williamsburg! :)

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Your pics are wonderful.

Thanks! :good vibes

Too bad that steak didn't taste as good as it looks because it looks amazing! We still have yet to try Le Cellier.

It really does look pretty yummy, doesn't it. It was just so darn salty and I guess the cut of meat was not as good as I remember. But it was mostly the salt that bothered me and I like salt. :confused3

Spaceship Earth is brilliant in my opinion, love the pics. :thumbsup2

It is brilliant. It's so old skill, yet so perfectly classic!

That IS a pretty window at AKL. I can see why you love it.

It's so cool. I love the view from that window and I love the architecture. It's so fun!

TSounds like a really nice final night at EPCOT.

We really did. It was perfect. I'm so glad we made it there to close out the trip!

TAdd me to the list of Spaceship Earth lovers, and thanks for all of the pictures. I rode on Monday and my pictures, in a word, suck!

:rotfl2:

Did you have a great trip? How fun to have a nice little solo trip before school starts. I'm still jealous. :rotfl2: My brother and his family ere actually there at the same time as you!

TBeen a few years since we have eaten at LC. Denny's meal does look awesome.

It really made up for his lackluster meal at Jiko. :thumbsup2

TThought of you while I was in Morocco. The past few trips I have gone on an expedition to find the "thing" in that pavilion. Just can't locate it. Is it still there? Where? I think someone once said it is in the back. I didn't realize it would be so hard (to find).

I'm surprised you never saw it. I think you almost have to know where it is and know what to look for. Then it becomes really, REALLY obvious! :rotfl2:

Also - look below because Pat posted the perfect picture! :rotfl:

THave a great trip to Williamsburg!

:goodvibes

Thanks

MaryEllen, (in no particular order ;)

1. Your 2013 sounds like the beginning through my mid 2014 :sad2:

Oh NOOOOOOOO! I'm sorry Patricia. Is that why you have been missing in action? :confused3 The same morning when you posted this I was actually thinking about you and wondering how you and the family were doing. I was think about Em getting ready to go back to school since Nick is. Can you believe it? - one year down already!

2. Williamsburg is so much fun- I hope you really enjoy it...

I love it there. I haven't been there for about 2.5 years so I'm really looking forward to heading back! :cool1:

3. Going back to conquer this novel of a TR... I'm pretty sure this is the current one???

That it is. It's almost ready to wrap up, but I may add my Feb trip to the end of this one!

Missed "talking" to you here on the boards...

Same! It's always great to see you come popping in for a visit. I hope you stick around this time! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

aching feet! You're back! And does this message indicated that you were on a Disney trip! Sounds like a blast. And way to go Chris! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I am snorting at the last line---- yes I am 12... :rotfl2:

Rebecca???? Are you out there? Now you will never miss it again! :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

I got a picture of it??? :confused3 :rotfl2: It is dark and probably blurry. :lmao:

It's actually quite discernible. You did a good job with that super duper telephoto lens.

Amazing how knowing what the problem is and getting medicine to start solving it does.

It totally worked and I must have really needed it because in a week I felt 100% better! :cool1:

Imagine August.... ;)

Did you just get a ton of rain?

I actually don't mind the summer downpours because they don't last. But in November everything is fair game!

I know I don't like it so I guess I need to see the ingredients...

Looked them up and could pull the garlic card...... Potatoes don't have it but the risotto does. Hmmmmm

That should work!

Yup. You did!

YES - Have a great time and relax.

Thanks!

Very bummed I never found time for another update! And I didn't even finish all replies, but I'll be back pot Williamsburg!

See Ya Then!

I'm finally all caught up after my Disboards hiatus to get the school year started. Great updates. So sad to hear about Le Cellier. We went their on our first trip ever and it was awesome and haven't been back since because the reviews are getting more and more like yours. It is so sad because it was once the cream of the crop. And why in the world can you not sub a side for something that you like. I am pretty picky on some things and have never encountered a place where they wouldn't change the side for you. Even the signature meals we have been to let us sub sides if we wanted to. Hopefully they get their act back together soon. Sorry...that got long winded!

Hi Mary Ellen I have been working like crazy this week and once again I am far behind!! If I hadn't mentioned it your recommendation of Food for Thought in Williamsburg was great!! The whole trip was amazing !! I would return in a Heart Beat !!! We had the best time and group !! Can't wait to hear all about your trip there !!

I love your AKL pics. That view is definitely something special!

It is interesting how F&W happens during two "seasons". Fun to see the fall decorations and also to see the Christmas ones!

I don't think you were complaining about your meal. You were just making an observation. I think there are times that WDW gets busy and I do kinda feel as though during those times the food quality can suffer. :sad2:
