Morning ladies! I have a question for you all.
I've been dress shopping lately and I'm finding some great dresses that I like. But nothing feels like "the one". And I'm running out of bridal shops in my area. I've found a great dress, but there's still that thought in my head of "is this really it?"
Did you know when you bought your dress or am I just stuck in a crazy pipe dream of not finding "the one"?

To be honest with you I felt the same way. None felt like The One. Although I am incredibly picky when it comes to dresses so it might just be me. I decided on a dress that I LOVE though. It's simple and elegant which is exactly what I wanted. Just keep looking. You'll find one!!

This is going to sound really odd, but it was the first dress I tried on and my mum and me just starting crying. I did try others on but I didn't feel the same in them.

Trust me you will know when you find the dress that is the one.

I am going through the same exact thing! I've looked and looked, and haven't had that "ITS THE ONE!" moment. There is one that I've really liked all along, much more than any other one, and would even say I LOVE it, but I haven't had that moment. My mom hasn't cried or been overwhelmed either, BUT, neither one of us really tend to be that kind of emotional person. SO, I think that it prob just depends on you, if you're really picky or just not really emotional maybe you dont get that moment? Lots of people have told me they just found one they really loved, but never had a big overwhelming reaction or anything. I think we're normal. :goodvibes

Honestly, I knew. It was like the 15th one I tried on. I think my mom knew first, the second I stepped out of the dressing room, and then I looked at myself in the multi-sided mirrors and I knew too. My gown was definitely THE ONE. No tears, though, just a feeling of "this is it!"

I went wedding gown shopping with my BFF this weekend and she was down to 2 gowns and went with the one that we all cried over - even the bridal consultant started to cry!

Personally, I think you'll know, and if you haven't had that "feeling" you might want to keep looking.

keep looking! you still have a lot of time. since you've tried on a lot, you probably have narrowed down the styles you like. focus on those. I tried on dresses 2 years before I got married, and decided that the style I liked best (strapless) was one that I had adamantly refused initially.

Definately keep looking. I bought a dress that i thought was the one, I really liked it, but I didn't get 'The One' feeling when I had it on. However I paid the deposit (thats another story) I went back and tried it on and tried to make excuses for why I didn't feel it, but it was all about the skirt for me, it just wasn't what I had always imagined I would have.
I then went into my local bridal store and it looked like she had nothing, very small store, however, sitting on a hanger, newly out of the box, was 'The One', I tried it on and although it was far too big on me, I fell in love:love: I went back the next day with my mom and she agreed it was definately the one for me. Since that day I haven't felt the need to look at other dresses, I am so blissfully happy with this dress, that I know it is 'THE ONE'
Believe me, it is well worth looking as much as possible, it just may be where you least expect it.

You guys are great! :grouphug: I knew I needed some sort of reassurance on this - and I do have plenty of time. I think part of my concern is spending all this money on a dress and not really loving it like I should.

I'll stick it out! Thanks ladies!!!

Summer- yaye! I;m glad it worked out for you. I hope you were'nt charged for the previous dress.

Well, She hasn't contacted me and I haven't contacted her. As far as I'm concerned she can keep the deposit, although I would love the extra cash right now:rolleyes: But, I have found 'THE DRESS' and for me that's enough:)

Not everybody has that "this is THE ONE feeling." In my experience most girls find several that they really like or love, and have to narrow it down from there, since no one dress seems to be head and shoulders above the rest. I think the best thing to do is picture yourself walking down the aisle in the dress you love, and see how it makes you feel.

i just bought my dress a few weeks ago, on the first day i ever went dress shopping. i had a list of dresses i wanted to try on, told the saleswoman...and all of the ones i liked in the magazines were the ones that looked terrible on me! the saleswoman went and got a few dresses that she thought i might like....tried one of those on, and it's the one i ended up getting.

I didn't have one of those "This is the dress" moments, but i'm a very indecisive person (who hates trying on clothes!), and was skeptical that i'd ever feel that way. My mom and sister were there, and there was no screaming or crying over the dress, but when they first saw it they were like ..."ooooooh, we really like this one." The longer i wore it, people started walking by complementing me in the dress (i was convinced they were people hired by the store). But after standing up on the podium for what seemed like forever trying to make a decision...someone walked by and said "Wow, you gotta get that dress....i can tell you must really love it, you've been wearing it for an hour!!" The saleswoman asked if there was anything i didn't like about the dress....and i couldn't come up with an answer.

I think i was more in shock over how easy it was to find a dress. i was expecting it to be a big ordeal...going to countless shops trying on a million dresses, getting stressed out. But i guess i got lucky. Good luck in your search! Find the dress that's comfortable and makes you feel beautiful!

Your stories make me want to go dress shopping so badly. I can't wait for that special moment when you find just the right one! :bride: Good luck, I'm sure you'll find the perfect dress for you!
