The dress code at Palo

We have had a lot of "dress code" arguments over the years and I'm sure the cruise mods will hug me for posting this :)
Tonite as I was leaving Palo a couple approached, they were probably in their late 20's. She was dressed to the 9's. He had on a very nice dress shirt and dress shoes but he was wearing a pair of very nice jeans but still jeans.
He was flat out refused entry. It was done in the nicest possible way. They offered to let them come back at some other time if he could dress appropriately. He didn't seem very happy with that and started to push it a little and next thing I know I saw one of the ships officers show up and start monitoring the situation. He wasn't getting in plain and simple.
We have had so many dress code debates I just thought everyone might appreciate a fact.

Thanks Alex,

Your postings this week have been great!

Wow! Its nice to know that security makes itself known when needed. Good to see dress code kept up too!

come on people how hard is it to dress up once in a while??

give me a break.

on my recent 3 day Wonder I was recovering from a cold and didn't feel like dressing for dinner at night, so I just ordered room service or ate elsewhere.

Poopie said it all....if you don't feel like following the rules of a particular place, you can always go elsewhere....you can fill your tummy without climbing out of your swimsuit or your jammies. Just don't expect to do it at Palo's.
Thanks, Alex....
I can't wait to be Magical! Counting the hours.....

The woman was apparently all dressed up, the dude went to the trouble of putting on a dress shirt and dress shoes. How much harder could it have been for him to throw on a pair of nice pants?

Thanks for sharing that experience with us Alex! I find it very interesting, and good to know! ::yes:: :sunny:

that was the other thing like Seaspray pointed out if you are already dressed up put on some slacks, leave the jeans for later.

but, the woman who was with this 'slouch' should have not let him leave the cabin without the appropriate attire.

I know men sometimes don't have a clue about dressing but we can help them. I went on a 3 day with my dad, I knew he would not have the right clothes for dinner so I sent a list to his GF and low and behold dad showed up on the ship with a nice pair of slacks, 3 nice dress shirts and a pair of dress shoes.

I took BF on a 3 day on RCCL, I knew he didn't have a clue fashon wise, dressed up to him is putting on shoes. lol. he works at home. I took him shopping before and he had the correct clothes for dinner. he even looks back at the pictures and is happy that he dressed up and has proof to show his mom.

it takes a little effort, but I am not going to dress to the 9's then be escorted by a Bevlery Hillbilly. lol. ;)

On our last Wonder cruise (Thanksgiving weekend), we noticed that there is now a sign in Palo with the dress code. I didn't know if they enforced it because no one who was "dressed down" showed up while we were there. Alex has answered my wonderment!
While I know that people enjoy being casual on vacation, Palo is something special and I think they should dress accordingly. At least dress slacks and a golf shirt!

How do you know she didn't read him the riot act and he flat out refused to change his mind? The fact of the matter is a person is responsible only for herself or himself. You can tell others what is expected, you can inform them of the consequences, but in the end you can't control a person's behavior.

I think I would have ate without him to really teach him a lesson. ;)

Bravo Palo....
Palo is a special place.....and guys, put on a jacket....!!!!

I was thinking about Miss Jasmine's post...
DW does not buy my clothes..she doesn't pack for me or tell me what to wear. Now I am certainly not always a fashion plate but I am pretty sure my dress is at least "socially acceptable"
Is it really that hard?
Do that many men need someone to hold their hand?
I just don't get that!

Glad to hear that DCL " stuck to thier guns" on the Palo's dress code issue.

Jasmine she may have indeed tried to get him to change, eating without him, GOOD idea, lol.....

Alex unfortunately some men do need our help, if we are lucky those who need our help actually freely admit they need help....

I was going to ask you to help me pick out my clothes for my Jan 3rd cruise. I'm sure you are VERY worried what I am going to be wearing. I mean after all being from California all I have are ripped jeans, sweats and flip-flops. ;)

I'm sure you don't need help picking out your clothes as you have exceptional taste. Do they have clothes other than polyester in Minnesota??
;) :hyper:

Mine freely admits he needs my help. I'm constantly picking out the entire family's clothes if we go anywhere (school, church, you name it) LOL

As for her trying to get him to dress properly- maybe so.. but if it'd been me, I would have refused to go to Palo until he dressed properly. She may not have been able to force him to dress properly, but no one forced HER to go with him dressed like that either. :)

wow, I need to move to california then...I would be in style ;)

Sure sometime we do a cotton/poly blend :hyper:

Thanks Alex - and thanks for the Palo Police - after having brunch with people dressed and others who looked like they just left the pool area - I applaud them for taking action. If people can't dress for Palo, then they can go to Plutos.
