its dropping a bit :(

I think I waited to long to pay off our trip, lol.
But I'm going to say that its just dropping for the weekend, and then will pick up by tuesday?

Thats what I'm hoping anyways.
We have until the 26th to pay off our sept trip

Have faith!!! The USD isn't gaining a lot of strength... so I'm preducting our $ will still gain a little relative strength. Granted, I'm not an economist, nor do I play one on tv. ;)

keep your eye on oil prices too. dollar drops whenever there is a dip in oil prices. since Canada has one of the biggest oil reserves, that's the coorelation. They are speculating that price of oil will keep climbing.

But give yourself a pricepoint where you tell yourself when it hits that amount i will transfer this amount. it's like budgeting yourself.

I've heard 2 theories....
1. the $ will settle in at an exchange rate of approx 15 cents (which is where we are now)
2..we are going back to around par sometime in July.

Personally, I'm hoping for the second theory.

Well I will be hoping for the 2nd option as well.
We did open a US dollar savings account at the end of May/09, we were pretty happy to get .91 on the dollar. :)

You can drive yourself crazy trying to decide when to pay. Will it go up, will it go down. I decided a long time ago to pay when our final payment is due and not try and second guess myself. Whatever the rate is then is meant to be.

Aw man!
Its showing at .87 today :(:(:(

I really hope it goes back up, my final payment date of June 26 is fast approaching!

Please please please go back to 90, lol!

Commodity prices have been falling as of late which has a negative effect on our dollar. The current theory, as one person mentioned, is that we should be at around .85. However, if commodity, and oil prices start to rise so will the dollar. THe other theory out there is that we will be at par with the US, but not until next year.

I always say buy a little US dollars daily or weekly. That way you get some good days and some bad days but it averages out in the end.

It is really running a big roller coaster in the last month! I'm so happy that I wasn't greedy and followed my "targets", even if it means I didn't get the best price. The best rate I got on my payments was around 0.89 (other at 0.84, 0.87), but it is much better than the 0.78 low... I also got a lot of cash when it was around 0.90, sure, the week after it was up at 0.92, but I don't know what it will be this summer... I'm averaging the risks!

I bought about $200 when it was I think around .87 and then i bought another $200 at .90 . I went to get $150 the other day and was upset to see that it was .85

I have time to hold out, however. Final not due until end of september. I will just keep on building up the US acct, and I have my US mastercard too to pay the trip, which will buy a bit of time before that is due to get more $$$ transfered over if need be.

I would rather pay off at a better rate just like everyone else!
Crystal I hope it works out for you!

Did you book thru Disney Vacations? I thought I was told the if you are a little past the payment date they would not cancel your vacation plans?

No, we booked directly through Disney and then transfer to Dreams Unlimited.
I'm just going to wait untilthe 24 or 25th and just pay off our trip at whatever rate its at.

A Disney trip is still a great trip regardless of the rate right?

When I think back to our first trip, the rate was 72 cents. I'll take the 88 and enjoy my vacation~as you said, its Disney baby!:cool1:

Well, i paid off most of my trip before it went up again, at around .80, oh well, but if and when the AP rates come out, I'll add on the DDP. Hopefully they'll come out this week. Our trip is in August. Our TA said if AP rates come out, it would be cheaper for us than Free Dining, to get the AP room rate and add on the DDP. If we take the Free Dining pkg, we would have an additional cost of buying 1 day tickets on top of that.
