Day Three Saturday, December 16th
Started the day off with a quest in mind. For a while now, I have been dying to try a Krispy Kreme donut so when I read that they had them at TubbiâÂÂs at the Dolphin, we factored that into our travel plans! We walked over to the Dolphin from YC and quickly found our golden ring! I had the chocolate icing one and, while it was very good, I think it would be better if slightly fresher â maybe at one of the actual stores.
Having accomplished task one, it was off to MGM. We waited a while for a boat and then decided to try the new walkway. Well worth it as it is a pleasant walk and we arrived at about the same time the boat did! I would, however, recommend taking the walk with fresh morning legs as opposed to end of day tired park legs! (more on that later)
Once at MGM, we went straight towards my traditional opening ride â the Great Movie Ride. This was the best ride on this I have ever had â the actor in the gangster section was great and really added to the fun. Plus there was a lovely older woman and her family in front of us and what a thrill it was to see the expression on her face when she all the old movie stars! ItâÂÂs just a reminder of how magical Disney is for all ages!!
After another great start, we headed to Muppets and then back to see if Bullseye was out (I love him!!) He wasnâÂÂt but I think itâÂÂs so cool to see Jessie in person (like I said â kids of all ages!). On to Star Tours â a walk on â and Sounds Dangerous (I love the haircut!!). Feeling hungry now after only a Krispy Kreme for breakfast, we went to RosieâÂÂs All-American where we encountered the rudest man that I think I have ever seen at WDW â I thought he was going to fight with the guy next to him! I hate having to take the bad with the good!!
Anyway, Mac had a bacon cheeseburger (good) and I had the veggie cheeseburger (good also). After lunch, we did some shopping and then headed for our resort tour. Took a bus from MGM to WL first. All I can say is âÂÂWowâ to that tree!! We had stayed at WL in March and really liked it so it was good to be back. It was a beautiful day (85 again) so we went out to the poolside bar and grabbed a drink and sat on the beach for a while. This is the life!!
Then took the boat over to MK and monorailed to the Contemporary which didnâÂÂt look to have much for holiday décor (although the tree outside is beautiful when lit!), then on to the Poly. I had stayed at the Poly a few years ago and really enjoyed it but they didnâÂÂt seem too festive either! So off to our next stop â the GF! Now I knew they would be decorated but it was just beautiful!! The gingerbread house was amazing and smelled so good!! When we arrived they had a piano player there, the tree was gorgeous â everything looked just perfect. Mac and I both commented that someday we would have to stay here. Again, we went outside to have a drink and soak up some sun and then it was back to the YC. We actually got off at the BW to look at their decorations. Another beautiful gingerbread creation (this time a carousel) but, of the ones that I visited, I would have to give the GF the prize for best decorations!
We decided to grab a snack on the BW. I really missed being in the BW area and may have to return there on a not so distant trip. We had appetizers (Chips & Salsa and Chicken Quesadillas) and beer (of course) at Big River Grille Works. Food was good, drinks were good, birds were deadly!! They were swooping down at us from all angles. We even saw one go to the table next to us and take a little boyâÂÂs chip right off of his plate! After that, a quick walk through the general store, a stop at the sweet shop and a walk back to YC for a rest.
After a while, we headed out for Osborne lights. I was very tired and a little wary when I saw the line for the boat. We had noticed a large stream of people arriving today and feared that the crowds were here to stay. We made the boat after two tries and stood for the ride to S/D and finally MGM. What a huge mass of people we encountered!!! Determined to see the lights, we pressed on. The lights were unbelievable but it was just too crowded. People were pushing and riding strollers up our backs â we decided to leave before the holiday spirit really soured! Again, a huge crowd leaving and an even bigger one at the boat launch!! In desperation, I remembered something I had read on DIS and hailed a cab! Best $6 of the trip!! We were whisked away in air conditioned comfort and at the YC in minutes. Dragged ourselves back to the room and rested. We had made a 9:15 PS at AlfredoâÂÂs but that wasnâÂÂt going to happen so we ended up just having munchies at the CrewâÂÂs Cup (Wings and Nachos). Perfect, quiet ending to what could have been a stressful night!
Tomorrow: One last go round at MK and then home!
