We have an ADR at San Angel in July, and I'm really dying to try that Margarita Flight from the ditch, but I doubt we'll have time to stop there (plus we are traveling with teens, and I don't really want to force them to spend time in a tequila bar...but I will if I HAVE to:lmao:). Will we be able to order this (and other specialty margaritas) from the ditch to our table in the restaurante?

TIA!

Hopefully someone can confirm this for you.

I heard rumors and I think I even read a while back that some folks were able to order Cava del Tequila margaritas at San Angel ... but again I can't confirm if it was true or not.

Worst case ... you can order from La Cava at the counter and get a margarita to go, and then take it with you when being seated at San Angel

OT,but I am WAY "out of the loop" on this.:)

Why is La Cava del Tequila called The Ditch?

I assumed La Cava meant The Cave. Thanks!:)

If you are traveling with teens, then send them to ride a few rides in Epcot on their own and have an hour or so adult time at the tequila bar. :cool1:

"La Cava" means "The Cellar" --specifically in the sense of a cellar where you store something, like a wine cellar. So, "La Cava del Tequila" = "The Tequila Cellar."

If you use a very bad online translator, it will tell you that "la cava" means "he digs it." Hence, "The Ditch."

The Spanish word for "ditch" is "zanja" and the word for cave is "cueva."

But why isn't it called The Cellar instead of The Ditch?:)

Does The Ditch just sound more "hip"?:)

Because the first person who decided to find out what it meant used a bad online translator rather than an actual dictionary. And then it stuck.

Thanks.:)

I think I will start a movement, though, to call it by its proper translation.:)

That way, just as Magic Kingdom has The Mountains(Space,Splash,Big Thunder)World Showcase can have The Cellars(Mexico,Canada).:)

We love eating in mexico but do not know what the ditch is or whatever you call it. Please enlighten me.

The Cellar;):) is the new Tequila Bar/Lounge adjacent to San Angel Inn "deep" within the Mexico Pavilion.:)

This is the first time I've seen it called that too. I actually kinda like "The Ditch"- sounds a bit more hip/modern than cellar. :rolleyes1

Yes, of course, that is a MUCH better solution than dragging them into a bar! ;) We've never split up in all of our trips to WDW, I suppose an hour or two this trip would be acceptable.

If they & you have a cell phone, even better!

OR, you could always tell them to take about 5 trips on the boat ride inside the Mexico pavailon to see Donald Duck :rotfl: sorry, just kidding :lmao:

What's wrong with dragging your kids to the ditch? :confused3

Really, there's no tequilla in this. It's some sort of smoothie.

Look how happy they are to be there.

Awesome photos, Heather! I'm feeling soooo much better, now! That smoothie looks great.
