This thread is for everyone to list problem they encounter (not with the parks) but with themselves in the parks, and how to cure them.

Some may seem very very simple, and some may not.

1. Foot blisters: They tell you to wear extra socks, but to also wear breathable shoes. Sort of counters itself. What would you do?

2. This is a biggy: Chaffing. Chaffing is not always an overweight person's problem but anyone's. I've noticed that some of the "cooler" clothings cause the most chaffing. However jeans or jeans shorts cause rash producing chaffing.

Anymore?

Foot blisters are easily prevented by using a roll on type antiperspirant on your feet each morning. The chaffing problem is cured by using a product called body glide

Both problems can also be solved by hiring someone to carry you piggyback through the parks too :earboy2:

They have antiperspirant for feet? Sweet! I seriously could use that because my most uncomfortable thing is my feet being wet in my socks.

Never heard of body glide either.

My biggest problem in the parks is keeping my cash in my wallet...

The cure for that: Well if you have a wife and/or kids, there's just no cure.

Just purchase a seperate bottle of antiperspirent and label it feet so you dont get it mixed up. it really does work great.. As for body glide you can find it near the pharmacy at Walmart

I am the wife! :teeth:

Water rides can also cause chafing problems. My DS, 5, rode the bumper boats (not at Disney) on a summer trip and got his shorts soaked. We were far away from the motel and he walked around in them all day. By the end of the day his legs were very irritated. It's a good idea to bring a change of clothes if you plan on doing a water ride. :flower:

LOL! You've proven my point! That's funny. It's all in fun. I only say this because of my wife. I just stopped putting the money in my wallet and let her carry it so I dont cring whenever she spends it, because now I dont know.

Chafing -- here's the deal. Buy a pair of bike shorts or athletic shorts -- the kind that are thin and breathable and hung your legs to just above your knees. Wear them under your jeans or shorts or khakis instead of underwear. They stay solidly against your skin, and any "rubbing" of skin or cloth or whatever that normally chafes will rub against the cotton spandex and not against you. I have a pair of these in white and black and wear them whenever I'm going to be outside and walking for any length of time. It makes things a little more challenging if you have to go to the bathroom (more layers), but it totally stops any chafing.

:earsboy:

I never wear sandals in the parks. I use 100 % cotton socks and a pair of broken-in running shoes. I've never had a blister.

Likewise, I've never had problems with chafing either . . . but since I run 5 miles a day, if I don't chafe then, I doubt I would chafe at Disney World. A bit of talcum powder or diaper rash cream helps with this problem, though.

This is an obvious one, but sunburn. Always wear some sort of sunblock. But don't forget this! This tip is especially useful to us gals who wear our hair down and with a part - Put sunblock on the skin down the part! Trust me, I forgot to put a bit on during a day in summer and it was the worst mistake ever. It hurt sooo bad to wash my hair that night and next day!

You can also use body glide on your feet. I did the breast cancer 3 day last year (walked 60 miles in 3 days) and only got one tiny blister. I've never had a problem in Disney World though. They have special running/walking socks that are tighter around the middle of the foot and are thicker around the ball and heel. These help alot and you only have to wear one pair. I can't recall the brand name but I got them at a Run and Walk store called Metro Run and Walk - I know there are several in the DC area.

dizprincess717 is correct!!! i always get a sunburn on my part! my bestfriend is constantly reminding me to put sunblock on it!!!! :sunny:

Two good types of socks are Wright Socks (which are double layered) or Jox Sox, which have extra padding on the bottom, but breathable mesh on top. I got them both at my local Scheel's Sporting Goods store.

Make sure if you are going to go on a water ride that you are not wearing a light colored T shirt (if you're a girl) or light khaki shorts (this is from experience).
