As many of you know, my family is leaving for our very first DL Trip on Monday. Just wanted to share what happened to me in the last 24 hours:

Friday night I started vomiting and was unable to stop. After several hours of vomiting profusely I asked dh to take me to the ER. A neighbor came and stayed with the kids and we went to the ER at about midnight. I didn't wait too long in the waiting room and was quickly given an IV and Zofran. I started feeling better almost immediately, but they were running some blood work that we had to wait on.

The blood work showed an elevated white blood cell count, so the Dr. ordered an ultrasound. She believed there to be a gall bladder issue. It turns out the issue was not in my gall bladder, but a mass was discovered on my liver. The doctor said they were going to admit me to the hospital so they could do an MRI, etc.

After waiting all day for the MRI, they bumped me until tomorrow. I was feeling much better at this point, so I asked to be sent home. The Dr. agreed as long as I follow up with my PCP following our trip to DL on Monday. I am not experiencing any pain and the Dr. believes the mass to me some type of benign hemangioma. I will give another update after my MRI.

Please keep me in your prayers that this is not something serious and that we be able to enjoy our vacation this week. Thanks!

I'm sorry you've been sick. Best wishes to you and your family for a magical vacation! :wizard:

As a precaution, you should Mapquest and print the directions from your hotel to the nearest hospital. I'm not from the area, but from a quick search it looks like the closest hospital to the Disney area is:
Anaheim Memorial Hospital:
1111 W La Palma Ave, Anaheim, CA 92801

When you run the directions, try checking the "avoid highways" box. It looks like the directions are much easier the non-highway way. Maybe print them both ways in case of traffic one way. I always like to be prepared! I'll pray you won't need them, but if you did have a problem in the middle of the night, knowing where you are going will be helpful.

What wonderful advice! I hope you have a magical and healthy trip, Blythe!

Gosh I am so sorry! hope everything turns out ok for you and hope you are able to go to Disney tomorrow, if you do we'll be there too!

Thank you everyone! Stephanie, will you be displaying the lime green Mickey Heads? I'll probably head off to Home Depot today to pick some up. Hope to see you there!

oh wow, talk about luck!

i remember that experiance. One day, i was just fine, the next time, i was soo soo soo sick.

and then i realized every time i go eat fast food, these guys who prep the food dont even use gloves. I kind of wonder if the source of my sickness rest right there.

Disneyland is all about safety, and i learn from it a lot :P

I hope you recover completely and have a lot of fun at Disneyland! Just remember, if anything happens, the Disneyland CM will get you all the help you need via First Aid. ^_^

HAVE FUN! Dont let the sickness get to you! If you have soo much fun, you will completely forget it. True Story, i was feel so tired and depressed before work and after i came home, felt tired but happy :)

I hope everything goes perfect on your trip and that you will be better in no time at all...your in my prayers...

Good luck to you. I understand how you feel. I recently have had my 2nd knee surgery since January and my doctor and my husband have told me that my late May WDW trip is in jeopardy. I'm STILL on crutches and non-weight bearing and may still be this way until one week before our trip. I am going, so they had better get used to it. I know you must be so excited about your trip, as am I, and nothing is stopping me. We go to DLR every year, but we haven't been to WDW since 2003 and I am SO excited about going. They've told me to be in an ECV or wheelchair, because my knee will not be strong enough to do a week non-stop like we do, but I'll do it just to go.

Hope you feel better and the advice about finding the hospital was a good one. If I remember correctly, there is a good hospital in Irvine, just right down from DLR. Hope you don't need it and try to have fun.:goodvibes
