The dining plan no longer covers the tip for any meal.

The pictures at CRT and Princess Stor Book are covered in the price.

Both are good for breakfast. We enjoyed the Pricess Story Book breakfast and only uses 1 dining credit.:goodvibes

we are travelling as a party of 6 (3 couples) 2 rooms. Since we have to pay an automatic gratuity of 18% will we be able to request from our server 3 seperate receipts with the gratuity charges according to our parties purchase?

All tipping questions on the restaurant board should be addressed to the Tipping Information Thread. This thread is being merged with that one.

Yes. Ask your server.

The dining plan no longer covers the tip for any meal.

Gratuities are included in the payment price for CRT and the dinner shows (Hoop de Doo Revue, Spirit of Aloha and Mickey's Backyard Barbecue). If you are paying with the dining plan, it does include a gratutity only for these 4 places. Gratuity is also included for in-room dining or pizza delivery.

Is the expectation the same? 18-20% Just wondering since I really am serving myself?

If you were in a party of 6 or more, Disney would add 18% tip to your bill, even at a buffett. You tip what you are comfortable with based on the level of service you recieve(you may find your server works just has hard at the buffet as at regular table service, then again you may not.)

so if we are a party of 4 do we add what we think is appropriate for the tip or will they still add the 18 percent? Can we just leave the tip on the table in cash? If it is less than 18 percent will they charge us on or room card the part we do not pay? I know the standard and the story about how hard people work and deserve such and such. I am not asking whatthey deserve but the requirement for a party of 4 ?

If you are a party of six or more, even paying on separate checks, Disney will add an automatic 18% service charge to each check for the items on that check.

If you are a party of five or fewer, total, Disney will print figures on your check that show what 18% of your check is and what 20% of your check is. You determine what tip to actually leave.

I think I'll calculate our tips, tonight :teacher: . This year, I'll be leaving about $10 per day for mousekeeping, $5 for valet and $2 per bag for bell service. I know the bulk of our tips will be for dining. I don't think it'll be that bad for 3 Adults (2 Adults and 1- 10 year old) :)

I am pretty sure we are going to go with the basic dining plan so we will have 8 TS meals and I am wondering how much I should budget for tips. There will be 4 of us dining so I do not believe it will automatically be included. Thanks!

Depends on how many people & where you're eating. We'll be there for 12 days and on the basic dining plan...we're 1 adult, 1 teen (who counts as a disney adult), and one child. With 36 TS credits, I'm guessing I will need somewhere around $250 for tips alone. We have a lot of buffet type means booked. If you figure a TS meal for 2 adults would cost around $50 that's a $10 tip.

I came up with about $100 for my family of three diners (plus one under)based on 18% automatic. We'll be dining as a party of 8 b/c my parents & sisters will be with us.

We're estimating on the high side just to be sure we've set enough aside. We are a family of 5 (Disney adults ;) ) and the DDP for 10 days is $2000 so we're looking at 20% of that or $400. We'll do one TS meal a day and it shouldn't be more than $200 for each meal so we should be good. Don't forget that if you want an appetizer or alcoholic drink or souvenir cup you will have to pay OOP for those too.

What is customary to tip using the dining plan?>?>

Will they bring us a receipt letting us know what our total was (even though we arent paying that?)

I normally tip a good 20% or higher depending on how my children behave, lol.

OH and do they put *recommendations* on the receipts? Can we use our KTTW to pay for tips or should we bring cash?

Thanks so much .. sorry so many questions :worship:

You will get a receipt showing what the price would have been without DDP. Also, they will show what an 18% or 20% gratuity would be based on that. Note some special meals include gratuity and otherwise, parties of 6 or more will automatically have an 18% gratuity added in.

Make your own decisions from there base don your personal customary tipping policy.

Yup, you'll get the receipt with the total and I think, if i remmeber right, the "recommended" amount on the receipt is 20%-but obviously, you don't have to pay that.

So, since we are a family of 6 on the DDP, our tips will always be automatically added at all of the restaurants?

If you attach a credit card to your KTTW card, then yes, that can be used for your tips.
