The disney survival bag swap... on hold

I will be there the end of Aug, sounds like a good idea to me. We usually have a lot of lestover snacks

I've got a quick question...if anyone knows. Each year, we spend a day at the ocean and purchase a sand bucket, shovel, etc for our DD at the beach. Can guest use these at maybe TL or BB?

There is no way I would use old generic medicine from anyone.

Ever since the Tylenol tampering thing a few years ago-I want a sealed, unopened, unhandled package-not passed from stranger to stranger.

Sorry-but I thing you are setting yourself up for a lawsuit there.

We will be at BLT from Aug 8-15 (arrive at Pop on the 7th). We will be in a villa so will likely have lots of stuff to leave behind (hoping to just travel with carryons so won't bring back sunscreen or anything). Let me know if the dates work and perhaps we can join the survival bag swap.

Well the meds are from disney... but that's up to you on whether you want to use them. They're all single use packages. Not everything in the bag are for every person or family.
But it's still in the making. So I'm sure there will be good things and bad things suggested.

It's designed for DISers to pass along items that would probably just take up space or sold at a garage sale for a buck. Or for items like water that can't be packed in luggage for plane trips because of rules.

Beach items are great. It would be handy for any one going to the water parks or staying at the yacht and beach club. All those places sell kid's meals in buckets with shovels.

We will be in late Sept and I have a new sealed package of boys pull ups for night time I can just donate. Let me know. I always end up with extra water too.

cool. Do want the bag for the week as well?? The 25-30th is open. But donations are always good as well.

I'm hoping that there will be plenty of fun toys for the kids.

This sounds like a terrific idea! We will be at Pop from August 16-28 and would love to participate. We always pack too much to bring and then often have to lug it all back home. I'd love to lighten our load and also pass on our extra supplies to a fellow DISer. Please let me know if there is anything specific that might be needed.

I think this is positively a great idea. I know each year when we go, I end up tossing so much or giving it to mousekeeping or an incoming guest.

You know...those helium balloons, extra water, juice boxes, snacks, activity books, extra landyards, play things....

Hopefully you will get more ppl interested. I know I leave behind so many things we only use at WDW and would love to share them with swappers from DISBOARDS.

Absolutely! We ended up with two cases of water to give away and I scoured the lobby for moms with kids and handed them off. They were very grateful, and even tried to pay me :confused3 In the end, it would have been nice to have somewhere to dro poff this extra stuff for someone else who was coming in and could use it... and it would have saved me from looking like a kidnapper eyeing down all the families in the lobby of ASM.

Maybe eventually there could be more than one bag... but even if you don't get the bag, I'll be more than happy to stop by and pick up anything left over. Who knows.. you might get it next time around.

I think hand sanatizer is a big thing. I've noticed Disney selling little bottles of germ-x next the the registers.

And no open foods, like a half bag a chips...although Kari might confiscate those...
<.<
>.>

And I'm sure if there are any dew-holics on here... they'd be more than appreciative of a few left over cans.

As soon as I set up a website or something. I'll post the list of items that i'd like to be included. And then people can leave comments on things that they'll be bringing or ideas that should go in the bag.

I dont have a trip planned but one thing everyone seems to need/ forget is moleskin for those awful blisters

Things I will be sending down:

For the grown-ups:
Heat/cold packs
Antibactial wipes and hand sanitizer
golf balls
sewing kit
tape
scissors

For the kids:
Princess crayons
Princess markers
Coloring sheets I printed off the net and put in a folder
arm floaties DD our grew and still in the package

Plus tons of samples from the freebie thread

I better quit thinking and looking or you are going to need a bigger suitcase!

OK....who else wants to share the leftovers from there vacation? I know I will have more once we are there and ready to hand it off to the next person.

Last year, I signed up with Colgate for free children's toothbrushes...they sent me a classroom set (30!) of toothbrushes with a trial size toothpaste, coupons, and a couple of other things. This year, I automatically got another shipment! I could certainly contribute SEVERAL (15 or 20? At least?) Each set is in its own individual package, with the toothbrush sealed in a seperate package inside the bigger package. There are also paperback books that go with this (I SO do no need 30 + 1 [big sized for the teacher to read and show] books about brushing your teeth!!!)

If this is something you'd be interested in for your swap stuff, PM me. I'll be down next weekend!

Ya know, yes we would like the guest bag and I will add a few things, do tell me where to bring it to on the 30th so the next person can have it.

Also could you post a list of who is participating and where they are at. I am Sept 22-27th at CSR then Sept 27-Oct 1 at BCV. I will be adding a full and new package of size Small boys Goodnites pull ups and some extra water and I am sure a few other things we have left over when we are packing to go home.

Please PM me.

What grade do you teach? I am not a teacher just yet... but soon! That classroom set from Colgate was wonderful... it was a great freebie find for my student teaching last year and wonderful of Colgate to offer such an awesome cirriculum free! :thumbsup2

To the OP... this sounds like a lot of work for you but it is such an awesome idea! Thanks for coming up with the idea and offering to pass it around! :flower3:
