Does anyone have a picture of the rental strollers, particularly the doubles?

We'll be traveling in October with my brother, SIL and their 2 girls, ages 4 and 16 mos (at travel time). My boys will be 4 and 2. Both my SIL and I will bring a stroller from home for our younger child, because we'll want them for the trip down and outside the park.

She's debating buying a double stroller for the trip instead of using her regular one, anticipating her 4 y.o. will need some ride-time in the park. I agree that ride-time would be wise, but I'm not looking to invest in another piece of baby gear for my uber-independent and tall 4 year old. So, we're thinking we could rent a double for the two 4 y.o. to share and it could be our mule when they're not riding. But the idea of navigating a gargantuan double stroller through the parks doesn't appeal to either of us, and 4 strollers is totally out of the question.

So I guess my concern is, how decent are the doubles? Does it maneuver smoothly, or will we be fighting over who has to push it? And I guess the most important question - is it tough enough to handle two 4 year olds? My niece is petite, but my boy is tall and sturdy - he looks like he's 6.

Okay, I've never actually USED the strollers at disney. (last time I went was before kids) But since I've done so much planning I feel like I know everything about those strollers. That link must be old because I think strollers are $10/day or 18/day for double or 8/day 16/day for length of stay rental. I don't think they look THAT uncomfortalbe. If the kids are too tired to walk than anyplace to sit and ride will be welcome. I'm sure they are not great for babies under 18 months or so. I've also heard that they push very nicely. I'm planning on renting one for my middle child when we go.

<---- As you can see by my avatar, 3 kids had no trouble getting comfy in the Disney stroller. The link from above might be old, but as of sept 2007, the strollers are the same in the ones pictured. They aren't the coziest, but we've used them on several trips and no one complained. If they want a ride, beggars can't be choosers. :thumbsup2

I agree with the PP, that the rentals are most suitable for older children who just need a ride. We've never rented one, but would consider it should my DS4 get tired and his seat in our Joovy Caboose is not enough for him. I've seen many older children nap in the rentals. When your tired, any place will do. :rotfl:

I would never put a child under 3 in the rental stroller. Just not enough support for them.

This is DD, age 2 in a double at Epcot:

We rented a double but DS only wanted to walk.

They are actually quite manuverable. We have a front and back double stroller at home that is a complete pain to push and turn.

Here are mine in a double stroller. DD just turned 2 and DS just turned 8. He only sat in when he was very tired and after walking a lot. We spent almost 12 hours at MK. DD slept in it also. Just for a few minute though.

We did take our umbrella stroller for the airport and off site things we did. We rented at Epcot, MK and AK. I will rent again also. I thought they were easy to use, moved well and I didn't have to worry dragging it everywhere!

I am going to Disney this year with my daughters princess: who are 10 months and 7 years. I know my daughter will want one of those strollers because she will get tired. Plus the three times we went in the past we had to get one. But what to do about the baby. Should I do one of those carrier things and walk with her that way, or should I bring her own stroller? And will I have to suffer with one Disney strollers and mine as well? I dont think that the Disney stollers are suitable for young children. Esp. The doubles, a baby would never be able to lie in it or be comforable, I feel they are more for the older kids that are still too tired to walk. What do you think?:confused3

lol..i fell asleep in one of the disney double strollers with my 3 yr old waiting for my husband and son to get off a ride at epcot..mission space..they arent bad when your tired..lol

I think, unless you're really used to wearing the baby in a carrier for very long periods (and she loves it), you should bring her a comfortable stroller. Or rent one down there - a real one, not the Disney ones. If you hunt around this board, there's a thread and a link to some place in the area that rents baby gear - prices were reasonable. Or maybe someone can post the name of the place and/or link for you.

Thank you, my husband was actually considering buying one of those cheap umbrella strollers 2 years ago for my older daughter, we always wind up renting even though shes big! She gets too tired. We will have to bring the babys stroller AND rent for my older one since I know she will flip out if she doesnt get one. Talk about alot of stuff!

To the OP: If I were you, I would bring strollers from home for the 2 younger kids and rent a double for the 2 older kids. The younger kids will need one more and the older kids less. When we went 2 years ago, my DS6 and DD4 were just fine in them. Your 2 4yo's will be perfect.

I agree that if you have a baby you should bring your own from home.

My kids are now 8 and 6 and I'm wondering if I can still rent one -- more to put all our stuff in then to push them around! ha ha ha
