The Disney Store

Hello everyone! My daughter is a sophomore in college and she currently works at a local childcare center (she has been there for 5 years) and she currently just got a job at The Disney Store in our local mall. She has had the job for a month. She is a DCP hopeful for the Fall of 2014....just out of curiosity, do u guys think that by working at the disney store will help her chances get into the DCP?

I worked as a seasonal employee there before I was accepted. It can help. If she is accepted just make sure to terminate her employment there before she goes down. They were very specific about that with me before I went down to FL.

Cards on the table, I don't think it will. I think Disney is such a large company that working for one division will have no impact on the others. Don't give up hope at all though!

I work at my local disney store as well ! Tell ur daughter to askes her manager to do mock disney interviews and network around other disney stores in her area.

This help me a lot and I just apply for 2014. My mamager and one of the FL district managers at the disney store is helping me b/c I am lacking the focus questions that disney is looking for on the DCP.

Some stores will put them on temp leave when they are at the DCP or term and hiring them back where they left off.

This is a bit off topic and kind of far fetched, but what if you had a job at a Disney Store/picked one up after you finished your CP, and became a seasonal CM, would working at the store fulfill your hour requirements as a seasonal?

I believe so.. I would just asked the store manager at TDS!

No, they are two different companies completely.

As I understand it, you can not simultaneously be seasonal with Disney Parks and Resorts and employed by the Disney Store since you would, essentially, be working two different jobs for the same company.

That is correct. The same goes for working for the Cruise Line. Hypothetically, if you were a WDW Cast Member and wanted to work on the Cruise Ships, you would have to "quit" and be "rehired."

I think working at the Disney store helps getting into the program. A lot of people who getting worked at the Disney stores across America.. right now I know of 15cm from Disney store who getting in. I am one of them...
