The Disney Store -- Augusta, GA

Sorry :-( I posted a few weeks ago, about the one here in Columbus :-( I didnt even know it was closing, just went one day to take my 3 yr old DS for a prize, and it was gone :-(

Oh, I know your DS was so disappointed. What a horrible way to find out? I am glad that I heard about it today. They found out last monday night. And they are closing May 25. It won't be any fun to go to the mall now.

I don't know what is happening with Disney Stores, but I just found out that another Disney Store in the Rochester, NY area is closing. This will be the third Disney Store in this area to close in the last 3 years. It is very frustrating!

I am so sad that the one located in downtown Cleveland is gone. It's been over a year and I refer to that spot as "the store formerly known as Disney". They don't even have anything in it's place right now. Just depressing. One of my favorite pre-trip rituals was to go weekly to the Disney Store and get $10 in Disney dollars. It made saving for our trip that much easier because you can't spend Disney dollars on anything but Disney!

I think we still have one or two stores in the area but it's just not the same. I want my Disney store back! :(

Hi akghutton!
TDS used to be a place to get your dose Disney "magic" away from WDW. Not any more. It's no secret why TDS's are in such dire straits. Though it's sad to say, IMHO, TDS are in terrible shape because of mismanagement by the "higher-ups" The merchandise selection is limited, and the prices are high. In many stores, unless you have kids that are between the ages of 3-11, or buy art, or pins, there isn't much to buy. Upper management seems completely out of touch; they treat CM's like dirt and their policies are running TDS's into the ground. Disney Stores are closing all over the place. As a stockholder, and spouse of a former TDS CM, it's a sad state of affairs. I would be surprised if there were any TDS left, in 5 years. (I hope I'm wrong) That being said......We're all still looking forward to our Disney trip next year...

akghutton, which store is closing in Rochester??? I live in Medina, NY and go to the stores in Buffalo and Rochester whenever I can. I hope it isn't Greece-Ridge, that is the one I get to the most.

Hi guys-
Yep, the Marketplace Mall store in closing, June 24 (I think or 21st). Everything is 50% off now and they are still getting in more merchandise. Some things are already red-lined (red stickers) and the prices are 50% off the red tag. I'm very sad to see them close but agree with the above poster in regards to the merchandise aspect.

However, the CMs I encounter (at least most of the time) are terrific and I'll miss the interaction with them. Most of them know my name and all of them know me by sight and say hi...oh well..I guess Greece Ridge will be getting my business.

I went to the one in Columbus last week in the mall. To find out that it was closed. Well I guess my son want be getting any more disney dollars. I liked giving him Disney Dolars because there isn't any temptaions to spend them. Well because he couldn't. I also must have missed the post about it being closed :( :(

I heard on the news the other day, that Disney is considering closing all of their brick and motar stores!!!!! Would they really do that!!!

A spoke with a CM today. When I made a comment about the approach they have gone to with a lack of adult items and no "home goods" I was told I am not the only one complaining and there is a change in traffic. I bet that is why they have been doing Donald Days, etc.

To bad, I used to like the stores a lot. With this new trend I am afraid to go into World of Disney now. I would spend between $250-$350 in the past, the thought is sscary what I could do now!

One of the DS's in Kansas City is also closing June 24th. Most everything in the store is 50% off original prices. Store #476, Metro North Shopping Center. :(

We live in MA, and I mentioned to my friend yesterday that I wanted to run over to the mall and pick up some beach towels at the Disney Store. She told me it was gone! We had never even heard about it, she had just gone to the mall the day before and it was gone. I didn't shop there that often but I will still miss it. The kids always loved going in there when we were at the mall and I had been getting them Disney dollars to save. I'm so disappointed! :(

Closing more stores, may be the only way to save the Disneystore chain........ buying Disney $$ weekly is fun, I can understand that. But it does not help the store stay open, all that $$ go straight to WDW, it does not even count as a "sale" in our daily figures.

The product in the stores right now is quite nice, and there is SO much stuff on sale, there is real value there (sweatshirts for $4.12? I LOT of girls stuff for $9.99, etc.) Our overstocks mean great deals for our guests in the next couple of months. Buy a towel, get a free sand chair is entering it's second week. The Nemo product is very cute.

BUT is is all kids stuff right now. We are told that adult stuff (clothing) will begin to flow into the stores "soon". This product is for Fall, as far as I know, so it might be expected to begin to surface in Late July-Sept. I am not a manager so I do not know the details.

I agree the product needs to be better designed. For example, get in some of the NEWER characters, we could have sold adult Stitch t shirts, Sully, and now Nemo, if they were well done. And we need some hardlines (cookie jars, salt/pepper, figuarines).

Some stores are doing very well with the focus on kids clothes. In my store our guests come to the registers with armloads of clothing....

Anyone up south Atlanta way know if that store in Southlake mall is closing or doing okay? We visited before our trip last month and I was so dissappointed with the lack of selection for adults and even boys over age 8. My son is very tall for his age and still likes p.j.s and would have bought several but they are all too small for him. I wanted a new Mickey shirt to wear before the trip but there was nothing there. Can I buy for Disney store????? I would love to be able to get the Mickey houseware stuff that's in my kitchen there. I'm hitting downtown Disney with a vengence in July. :Pinkbounc

I checked this store out yesterday and it had closed 2 weeks ago, leaving 6 in the Atlanta metro area but none in the southern 2/3 rds of the city. Oh well.

I am so bummed now. I was so sad that the one in macon closed, but then we moved to Jackson, closer to the one in Morrow. I should have guessed it was closing, they didn't have a great deal of stuff there last time I went. Looks like Lenox Mall is closest to me now maybe. :(
