I booked this cruise Oct 9th of last year for me and my family. I worked two jobs and saved, saved, saved. Seven months worth of anticipation, waiting, reading the disboards almost daily and sometimes trying not to even think of it at all.
Same as the rest of you here in this thread, I disembarked this cruise today around 8:45am. Every extra hour I put in at work, every sacrifice I made else where so that I could contribute to this vacation was SO very worth it!
The weather was WONDERful, the service and entertainment were top notch.
P.O.T.C. 'At Worlds End' in the Walt Disney Theater (from 10:30 to 1:15am) was awsome. The pirate party and the showing of P.O.T.C. 1 on the jumbo tron was quite the experiance.
On Monday 'Nassau day' we walked around the port area for a little while, walked over to Hard Rock Cafe for a guitar pin and then waved down a cab to take us to Atlantis. We walked around there for a while took many photos and then headed to the ferry terminal to take a boat over to the Dolphin Encounters on Blue Lagoon.
Our Dolphin was named Andy, he was a patient and friendly dolphin that loved to play football and spit water on us all
Spend way to much on photos and other Dolphin Encounters stuff. Got back to the ferry port, ate a quick bite at Johnny Rockets wondered the beach at Atlantis for a while more and then at the last possible minute, happily paid a cab driver $20 bucks to rush us back to the port. As we ran up the gangway we were told that we were the second to last family to board the ship
Castaway Cay was the ultimate private island 'Disney Style' the whole place was stunning. Beautiful landscapes and seascapes and photo opts at every turn. We did the bike ride first thing, then went swimming, snorkinling and picture taking with my Canon 30D and my 12 year old son followed closely with his Canon D30. Grabbed a quick lunch at Cookie's BBQ and then went Parasailing at 2:00pm. Wow was that fun my 10 year old daughter got cold feet at the last minute so I was able to go twice, once with my son and once with my wife. That was the first time parasailing for us all and I couldn't have picked a better place to create that memory.
We stayed on Castaway Cay until they asked us to head back to the ship, but for us that's what it takes
Our day at sea was just as great. The Oceaneers lab was a big hit with the kids, the BBall court on deck ten was where my son spent most of his day at sea. We hit Beach Blanket Buffett for lunch and then walked over to Goofy's Galley for some excellent soft serve ice cream. Took the family to see the Disney Dreams show at 6:15pm before our 8:30pm dinner seating at A.P.
The show was outstanding!! and I thought the Peter Pan and 'little girl' were very convincing in there roles.
Even though we all knew we had to get up at the crack of dawn the next morning, as usual we didn't get to bed until after midnight.
This morning at breakfast we kept feeling like someone had died, like we were loosing something we all loved so much. We said goodbye one last time to our servers took their picture with the kids and then headed off to the terminal.
This cruise is really just the beginning of our vacation, we are now in Orlando in a four bedroom pool home we rented until June 10th and are going to spend the next 10 days going to the Universal parks, Sea World and Busch Gardens Tampa, but we just cannot get over the massive impact the last four days has had on us. That feeling we all feel really is "The Disney Difference"
I see that there is still space available on the June 7 -10th 3-day Disney Cruise, who knows, we might be on it!!
