The Disney Bubble

OMG, I am so glad that I am not the only person out there that watches Stacey over and over and over again. I just hate that they changed it, I liked the older music.

I am 48 and have been going to WDW most of my life. I always like it, but since I live only 2.5 hours away it was mostly day trips.

About 5 years ago, some friends from out of state asked us to meet them there. They were staying at PORS. So we stayed there so we could be close to them. Well that was all she wrote. I won't stay off property now, I didn't know what I was missing. To me, it isn't really WDW unless I stay on property. Others feel differently, but for me I want to stay on property.

Hey, we didnt like it when they changed the Stacey show either, we like the original better!! Usually by the end of one of our trips, after we have watched the loop countless times we can pretty much repeat it word for word!!! Even when we are home one of us will randomly say something from the show, "look at all the lazy people on the lazy river" "first the wash cycle then the spin cycle" "what goes up must come down" Yes, its corny, but we love to watch it over and over. As silly as it is, I would miss that show if we stayed outside!!!

We do this too!!! " look at all the lazy people people in the lazy river," is one of my favorite lines!!! Gotta love the Dis!

Oh and we love the bubble!

To me being in the bubble means not seeing the outside world. No billboards, buildings, business signs. It's all disney 24/7. We don't leave property from the time we cross under the gate until it's time to go home.

Yes! :thumbsup2

Good example: we were in The World in January when that terrible shooting took place in Arizona. We're not a big TV-watching family, except for Disney channel in the mornings, so we had no idea what had happened. My sister and I noticed the flag at MK was at half-mast and asked a CM why and he told us what had happened. You aren't bombarded by TVs everywhere you go like you are in the outside world - outside of "the bubble" as you call it, there are TVs in nearly every restaurant, doctor's office, post office -- everywhere you go on a regular basis. No radios blaring. Just happy sounds of Disney music. What's not to love? :lovestruc

For us, Disney World is an escape from the things we do every day: cooking, laundry, driving to and from everywhere, outside noise and distractions. Staying off-site would not have the same feeling to us.

We love the cartoon lops! Last year are favorite was the "Working for Peanuts". Even now, once in a while someone randomly busts out with "wa wa wa wa wa...Delores!!" and we all crack up! I think we saw that cartoon a hundred times last summer :rotfl2:

:lmao: This was our favorite too! I had to track it down when we got home and happily found it on the Chip & Dale shorts DVD so now we can watch Donald running up the "steps" in the hippo anytime we want to. "What's the matter, Dolores?" :rotfl2:

My DH is a firm believer in the Bubble. For him, it's not a vacation if he has to drive, either all the way from Wisconsin or around once we're there. We thought ASMusic was great and wouldn't hesitate to go back there. The theming wasn't too "in your face" and we really enjoyed watching Finding Nemo from the pool, the food court, gift shop and escaping from the outside world for a whole week.

IMO, if you are not on the monorail line, you might at well stay off site. Buses, wake up calls and pretend Disney Magic do not make up for lack of MK sight lines.

To the OP, stay off site in superior accommodations and do not worry about being inside the bubble. This forum is not the most objective site on the web. It's similar, in many cases, to the people buying houses as the market was crashing in 2008. No one wants to admit they are a sucker.

and I like being closer to the parks being inside Disney proper. To me, anything outside of Disney proper is too much time back and forth commuting especially if you want a break in the day. If you use other shuttle services from outside resort locations there are schedules you have to follow to use them. I find that very restrictive. The EMHs we utilize; so, I feel that's a great advantage of being on site.

Also, I like not to think about going from place to place by using Disney transportation. I feel more rested this way then driving. We go with a deal and during value season. We especially like the free dining plan deal. We will upgrade the dining plan. The more people in your room the better this deal will be. I would never do as many TS meals without the DP. I don't want to commute outside of Disney for meals and I don't want to make my own meals on vacation. If you do your meals outside of Disney there's a time factor there, as well. The more time doing other things is less time doing Disney things.

Also, I look at it as being able to take more Disney trips doing value resorts. We've done Disney over 30 trips and I've stayed on all levels for Disney resorts and we did non-Disney resorts, too. We have settled in to value resorts and we've never looked back. I'm not living at the resort; I'm basically sleeping and cleaning up there. I want to be in the parks!

Take the chance and stay on-site for your next visit. If you and your family fell like you are more "in the bubble" you will get it. We call it a land cruise to be on -site...the EMH are huge for us. Honestly tho, as many opinions as you will get here, seeing it for yourself is the only way to see if it is better. You could even do a split stay of sorts,,,maybe 2-3 nights on site...just do it at the end of your trip.;)

Wow. you guys sound more and more like we do. Our favorite thing to quote is "Summit Plummit" complete with the hand motions.

Oh man, I want to go to WDW right now.

And I agree, I would miss that show. Some hotels actually show it, they have an agreement with WDW. I know that Caribe Royal does. This is where we stay when we go to the water parks in the summer. We have seasonal passes and can't do the parks in the summer. And Caribe is usually cheaper.

We went to WDW once and totally splurged at Beach Club..loved that place..It was the first time my family had stayed onsite even though we'd been to DLR many times (I stayed at DLH when I was a kid..what a treat)..then in 2001 I stayed at the Grand Californian and never looked back. You can find lots of nice walking distance hotels by DLR but the Disney bubble is too important to me now, so I just bought DVC and made the commitment. The only time I stay offsite is for the Expo..then I stay by the convention center (and promptly move to VGC when it's over)

Exactly. Sorry if quoting someone else as I've read this many times here, but Only on-site do I feel like I'm truly at WDW. There are tons of nice resorts and places around the world, but only one WDW. I want to be immersed in Disney 24/7 and being onsite is the only way.

If driving, we see gas station prices :scared1: must remember if we need milk (just like home! :scared1:) and we're easily distracted to think about our real life world. :scared1: I'd rather not do that on vacation. Especially at magical WDW! Staying on-site 24/7 may be more expensive at times with smaller rooms but its Disney and the value can't really be measured. ! :thumbsup2

DH really appreicates magical express and disney transporation. He too can relax and be away on vacation too, without worrying about getting us anywhere, parking, gas, traffic ect. Its really the only way he can FULLY feel on vacation.
:thumbsup2

Good info, I didnt realize that some of the outside hotels show the "Stacey show" Its a good idea really. I know when we went to Disneyland last year, we stayed outside and I wondered what the DL resort TV's played for Disney stuff.

I know this is totally off-topic, but I have to ask, have you ever noticed that when Stacey explains the FP system, the family that steps up to the kiosk, puts in their ticket and get a FP that says "not valid" on it!!!! We always get a chuckle out of that!! Also the footage of Typhoon Lagoon must be really old because when they show Humunga Cowabunga the slide is open and it is actually enclosed now.

And I agree with you, I want to go to WDW RIGHT NOW too!!!!!

So, even though I read threads here all the time, ever since seeing this thread this morning, I am dying to get back to the world!

I called DH at work and he said he too had been thinking about it!!

So... it looks like we may be going back sooner than I'd thought!! YIPPIE!! Thanks OP!! :cool1::yay::banana:
