My washer is about 14 years old, and I'd say it's still a bit louder than the dishwasher. Why? When it sounds EXACTLY like the washing machine, it's time to change?

I just notice when we got other people's houses, their dishwashers sort of purr.

I have never used a dishwasher before. Everyone in my family was taught to wash and dry dishes by hand.

So was I. Which is why I love a dishwasher!

My mom still insists on doing them by hand.

Maybe it's time to change it then. You could always call the manufacturer's customer service # and ask.

Mine sounds like a freight train running through the house. I can hear the neighbors going when the run theirs! I am pretty sure that our dishwasher is older then I am!
