I get choked up everytime I think of how much my girls have grown. When they did their crossing over ceremony at AHG I literally cried. It was just a short time ago that I was standing over their cribs in the NICU wondering what in the world was I supposed to do with these two things.:rotfl2:

I know the feeling, just 6 years ago for my DD too. And I can relate to the "what in the world was I supposed to do" part. When we were leaving the Hospital with my DD and DW, we go outside and of course the DW is in a wheelchair (Hospital policy) and the little one is in the car carrier seat thing, so I have to go get the car, so I just put the car seat with DD and all right on the curb about 20 feet away from my wife and the nurse makes a crack, "this isn't a firehouse, you giving up the baby already?" I'm new at this, give me a break!

reminds me of a quick "stick your foot in your mouth dave" story. when we purchased this house, i wanted to finish off the basement. one sat. my wife invited the inlaws up for diner. great, here comes syskol and ebert!!:lmao: anyway, im in the basement and i told my wife to give me a yell around 4pm so i can get a shower before they show up. well, i had the radio going, i didnt hear the front door open and the inlaws were in the kitchen, near the open basement door. my wife yells down the steps, "david, your mother-in-law is here!" david yells, and i quote, "thats funny, i didnt hear the broom pull in"!!!:lmao::lmao: i thought it was funny!!:lmao::lmao: my father in law was laughing also but that was about it.:lmao:

That is great!!!:laughing::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: :laughing:

Alright guys . . . I got the green light on a 4-night adult getaway. I'm torn between mid-October for some Food & Wine goodness (which we always enjoy) or early December for some holiday cheer (candlelight processional, resort tours).

I tried to get the "both" idea passed through, but I lost that one. Pros and Cons? I'm anxious to book my plane tix!

ive been to both many times but i have to say, the first two weeks of december are the best.:thumbsup2

I didn't book 2 for any one meal, but I did book a breakfast and a dinner at Chef Mickey's for the same day. We still can't decide which meal we want.

I say do them both and don't eat lunch :)

Is it possible to score and lose brownie points at the same time? :confused3

Yesterday was the in-laws' anniversary. I shot off a text to MiL to say Happy Anniversary.

This morning, I sent some pictures from our trip to visit them this weekend. She replied back that apart from her and FiL, I was the only one that remembered it was their anniversary.

Of course, now, she's going to give DW and her brother heck about it, then I'm gonna catch heck for making them look bad.

You just can't win. :sad2:

TL

You are doomed.:ewok::chewy::yoda::darth:

My sixteen-year –old surprised me yesterday. I picked him up form school and we were on the way home when I pulled into the post office to toss a couple of letters into the box. He asked what I was up to, and I said I was making sure that the mortgage payment got into the mail a quick as possible. That was followed by a short description on my preferred method of the bill paying process (things to consider, the order in which the various obligations get covered, the list of those that will just have to wait if necessary, general thoughts…). He mulled on it for just a moment and then said: “It seems to me like being an adult is exhausting.”

I just smiled…

:lmao: :lmao:

:lmao:

Tough day today. Got even tougher when I called DW at 4:50 and told her that I had a meeting at 5. Luckily, she is working tonight so I don't have to worry about the doghouse or couch, and maybe tomorrow things will have blown over. Yeah right. :lmao:Still trying to figure out how the meeting didn't get onto my calendar. Then, right after that, we had a religion issue, with multiple folks involved. Not good. Hope to settle things with that in the AM. Momma always said there would be days like this.

I'd vote December as well. Crowds should be (slightly) lower, and the theming is awesome. :goodvibes

For me, wouldn't matter. Both are great times. Look at it like this, if you go in December, then maybe you can finagle an October trip next year, or vice versa :)

Ergo, ownage.:lmao:

:lmao::rotfl2: I'm sorry to laugh at your expense, but I really do feel your pain. Sometimes you just can't win, no matter what you do. :sad2:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Think of it like the Godfather. You've invested in protection from DW's wrath by throwing in with MIL.

Bwahahahaha! I know this all too well. I've done this before and I think it was a net loss of brownie points. :confused3

Does this fall in the category of "The enemy of my enemy is my friend"? Or is this more of the "My MiL can beat up your MiL" variety?

In my experience, Wife Points are much more valuable that MiL points. Hope you've got a comfy couch, big guy. :thumbsup2

You just can't win. Best to just accept it early! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: I know this feeling all too well... I can never win with the inlaws!

Thanks for commiserating fellahs. The DW thinks that she can call today and use the "You weren't home when I called." excuse. I haven't the heart to tell her that her Mom already told me that they spent the day at home doing a whole lot of nothing. :rolleyes1

I'm not too familiar with Wisconsin weather, been out there only once, but NE is pretty bad, so I may go all in...

That would be a losing bet. Superior, WI, has had recorded snowfall in 11 of the 12 months. Yesterday, my town experienced humid, sunny 90 degree weather, followed by monsoon type rain that lasted exactly 8 minutes, followed by hail and 30 mph winds, and I think there was some snow in there too.

On an unrelated note, I ran by the theatre today after work to see how auditions were going. My competition for the role I want was there, so I stopped and chatted a bit. Apparently, he didn't think he did a good job (which I can understand, he really worked himself up for this part, he may have psyched himself out), and the director asked him to sing falcetto afterwards (which led us to believe that they were going to go with a drag Mary Sunshine like the Broadway version, which kinda bummed DW out, as she was leaning towards that part). He really wants Amos, but he'll take any part. I, on the other hand, am only interested in Amos. And if there was a lack of guys trying out like I assume there was, I have a pretty good chance. So, needless to say, I left there feeling pretty good. *fingers crossed*

Um...hello all. I posted a picture of My Disney Princess in the Princess Pic thread and was redirected here to properly introduce myself.

I am a proud Disney Dad...I stopped reading at #45 of the criteria but am confident I meet a number of the criteria.

My name is Matt and I hail from St. Louis....

I am a divorced Disney dad who took my DD (now 7) to Disney for the first time at age 4 to give her something happy after the divorce rocked her world.

I have 50% custody of my sweet little girl and it works great for her...even better for me, but I would take 100% if I could convince my DX

I have been blessed with meeting a wonderful Dfiancee who has agreed to marry me.....in all places, Disney World. After our magical fairy tale wedding at Disney's Grand Floridian, on September 16th, I will have a Disney SS who is 4 years old and a huge Buzz Light Year Fan.

So, I guess I can be added to the vacation thread 9/11 - 9/18 of 2011 with a change in status on 9/16!!

The fam and I try to go every September.

Great to read through this massive thread and I look forward to participation in the thread!

Matt

I hope that's enough information

Welcome Matt... ;)

Wait a second.... did I just say....oh, to easy... Let's not all walk all over Matt. :lmao:

Now for the initiation, we will need you to gather a few objects, and meet back here for further instructions. They are...

- A muzzle
- A blindfold
- 3 red M&M's
- A jar of Peanut Butter
- and A woman named Beverly! :rotfl2:

Just kidding... make yourself at home, and grab a beer from the fridge.

What song did you audition with?

Matt, welcome :cool1:

Congrats on the upcoming nuptials :thumbsup2<<<<<<thumb

Jump in and enjoy the ride.

So after the whole gas leak incident earlier today, I went with my cousin's husband to the range and squeezed off a couple hundred rounds. I feel better now. Time to grab some dinner and watch the Bruins.

Cheers,
Indy

Evening all, hope all is well. We had our latest Big meeting today due to Health and Safty issues, with the new Regional director sitting in, but it went better then expected, no flack, seeing every incident is more due to weird circumstances then poor practices. Only thing that was beverly about it, was the boss had an emergancy at home, and could not do a thing about it till they left, and man, did they linger around for no good reason. I felt horrible, his dad is not in a good way, and he left right afterwards. Really hate the fact the rest of the staff took his absence as a cue to peanut butter off the rest of the day. Needless to say, I stepped in and caused a lot of friction, but I don't really care. One good thing to happen though, is talking with my District Manager, found out they are green-lighting a new store right close to home. We talked about me not being transferred in 9 years, and he was under the impression,. I had been pulled out briefly at some point, so he'll keep that in mind when selecting the staff. It'd be great, it's in walking distance, about 20 mins or so, the exercise alone would be worth it. Not sure when it happens though, I thought by the end of the year.

I have not done November/December, but the F&W Festival is so worth it, and one of the highlights last year. DW and I want to do an adult only weekend one year down the road for it
