For our travel agent Dads,

I'm looking for a one-way car rental from Fort Meyers Airport to MCO from June 26-29th. Any tips? You can PM me if you don't want to copy the group. Thanks in advance for the help!

Check MouseSavers.com for discount codes. I believe you can drop off at just about any Florida airport at no added cost, if I remember correctly.

So just when are you planning to use those newly acquired passes?
Very cool.

Yes indeed the 4 1day WDW Park Hoppers was the prize:cool1: Spending a total of $45 at the auction, I think I fared quite well since the tickets are valued at $544:woohoo:

We will probably use them on our 2012 trip, we want to go to the Star Wars weekends in June 2012:confused3, We already have 3day Hoppers with no Exp. date from a few years ago, so we could probably get away with just a room and use Visa Disney points for alot of dinners:goodvibes

OK - will all this DVC talk going around....does anyone know how the financing works? Approximate rates of interest and terms of the mortgage?

Unfortunately, for when we vacation - it would look to me that I'd need atleast 300+ points :headache:

Here is how we did our financing. First, I would say that we paid cash that we just had lying around, but being a school principal, the words "cash" and "just lying around" don't ever happen here.

We went ahead and financed through Disney, and we did it for one reason only. The reason?? We has a very low interest home equity line open, and we immediately took the money from the home equity line and paid the DVC off. We saved a bunch of money that way. And, having caught the bug, we're also looking to add on, just want to save some cash and to the small point add on, unless we can find about 100 for a very low price (which isn't likely, but we're still trying).

Look us up if you decide to go 2011 in June. We will be there June 3rd to the 11th..:thumbsup2 that's a great score on those tickets!!:thumbsup2 deluxe resorts have a 30% off special!! Why wait a year when June is 60 days away!

Don't mean to do back to back posts, but as promised, here are some pictures from the US v. Paraguay soccer match this past Tuesday that DS and I, along with his soccer coach and the coach's son, attended.

DSC_0550.jpg

Group picture to start the game. Notice Clint Dempsey's shoes, back row, first on the left. Grape colored with yellow and black around the heels. One thing about soccer players, they wear some wild shoes.

DSC_0561.jpg

This is the corner kick that led to the goal that Paraguay scored. Notice the 2nd Paraguayan on the left. He is getting ready to pull the US defender down to the ground, and #15 for the US fell down, which left a huge hole in the center of the field, and the only things there were in that hole were the ball and a Paraguay player, who collected the ball and shot it. US goalie didn't stand a chance on the shot.

DSC_0584.jpg

The US last chance. The guy laying on the ground (Jones, I think) just blasted one at the Paraguay keeper from where he is on the ground, but it was right at the keeper and he was able to punch it away, and the ref blew the full time whistle.

The unhappy total at full time.

I've got to say this as a new soccer fan. Soccer, especially at this level, is VERY entertaining, even in a 1-0 game such as this. The skill level of these guys is absolutely incredible. As a person in the southern US that didn't have a chance to play soccer and didn't know much about it before DS began playing, it is very addicting. I know that we as a country love the high scoring, instant gratification of high speed sports like basketball, football, and hockey (and I love it too), but to see these guys handle the ball with a bunch of folks around them, then to put a pass right on the money to a guy running full blast on the opposite side of the field is just amazing to me. I find myself drawn more to the Fox Soccer Channel now on Saturday and Sunday afternoons more so than the NCAA tournament, and that says a lot for me. I would recommend that if you have a chance to see a game containing national or professional players to take advantage of the opportunity; you won't be disappointed.

Quite the deal I’d say, and it sounds like a good plan to me. We have done similar things. A while back we got a deal on package that included four-day hoppers. As the price of a ticket is relative to the number of days purchased and adding additional days gets exponentially creeper after about the third day on the pass, we added five more. We used about half of it that trip, came back the next time needing only a room (and added a few more days), and then came back again after a cruise to use the last of ‘em. As well as that worked out, I need to find a similar deal. Maybe next summer, but I’m trying to talk DW into saving up for a trip to DL next year. The airfare is the only thing making her hesitate on that one (me too if truth be told).

You guys need to quit depressing me with this DVC talk... you've got me convinced, but my wife is another story.:sad2:

The travel $ is the killer, I can only sit in a car for about 6hrs before my back locks up so if we drove it would take forever:scared1: I don't fly, so the Auto Train is our way to go, altough it not the cheapest:rolleyes1

We could stay offsite since my inlaws have a time share, I also have alot of friends who offer us thier timeshares all the time, but that would cut out alot of park time since we would miss out on the EMH's:confused3

ownage by mistake!
Went to the zoo yesterday! Philadelphia zoo touts themselves as being the "first zoo in the united states" I was never so disappointed! I am not exaggerating when I say they had maybe 30 animals on display and of those 6 were under vet care!(sick or hurt) I don't think I should be able to count the bones on a rhino! Anyone know where their funding comes from And if they have to be accountable!? Who has been to the zoo where they didn't have an elephant? I am no vet but I could see the ribs of the polar bears!:scared1:
They also combined two or three species in one exhibit!
Anyone know how I can call attention to this without being shot?
My biggest problem with this is one they can't call and complain, they can't get a job to buy their own food, and they didn't ask to be there!

We will be going there during Easter vacation, I hope this was just transition from winter to spring (I know some animals can't come out unless it is a certian temp) plus alot of the animals should be doing some shedding around know.

The last time we were there was Oct. and everything was well:confused3, but if it has gone down hill, being a zoo member for 5yrs now, I won't hesitate to write a letter with some pics.

Hey gang!! Life has been busy and I haven't been here for a LONG LONG time!! I hope to start getting more time to spend here!! :surfweb:

Anyhow, I saw there's a new DIS Dad's Shirt and I want to order a few for our DCL trip in November, a double dip trip!! But I went to order the shirts and I want to order them in different colors and did't see a way to do that!! :confused3 Is it possible?? I want at least a few different colors!!

Thanks Guys!!! And DIS on!! :cool2:

You guys need to quit depressing me with this DVC talk... you've got me convinced, but my wife is another story.:sad2:

Sorry Andy... it took me around 12 years to convince my bride...

... but now, yeah. She loves the space the rooms provide, the king sized bed, that whirlpool tub in the 1 br's and larger for a nice soak after a long day in the parks, loves having the washer & dryer in the room... and really loves that when we go - I do all of the cooking & laundry while there. She truly gets a vacation. I even do all of the menu planning, grocery shopping locally for stuff being packed into our suitcases - and all of the ordering for the grocery delivery for the perishables. She just has to pack her own suitcase and help out DD with her packing - and get in the car to go to the airport. She does so much at home every week... it's the least I can do when we go on vacation. I get away from my normal stresses - and she can get away from hers.

We leave in the a.m. It's been a crazy busy weekend... doing the last load of laundry now so that when we leave in the morning, the hampers are empty so we don't have that to come home to.

Hope you have a GREAT trip:goodvibes Did you figure out where you are going to go:confused3

Well post 2000 is here...should it be anything "special"...really? :confused3

I've been on the Disboards for 5 years joining in May of 2006. At first I was a seeker of info...but developed into a answerererererer.

Then in April of 2008 (actually tomorrow 4-4 will be the anniversary date) I found this interesting thread called the DIS Dads Club. Laughed my way through the symptoms of the affliction. and joined with a simple "Sign me up!!!"

Since then I have enjoyed these threads a whole lot...in a typical work day I found myself spending far too much time (as in I should be fired from my job amount) on the DDC thread.

I'm proud to be part of such a group of guys who love there families so much, and want to spend time with them at a place we all hold special in our hearts. I've made many friend here on the boards. And one Nemisis...maybe two...not sure that's legal though.

We all have our reasons to love Disney. I think my reason stems from my childhood memories made with my folks at WDW. And I hope to keep on making them with my family...and hopfully one day with grandchildren.

Being part of the DDC...I can stand a little taller with my Disney geekdom...as I know there are at least 500+ guys who are there to back me up and stand on the Bus/Monorail so that others may take our seats.

Now the bars are open.
FREE BEVERLY FOR EVERYONE!!! Enjoy!

Great post, my only question is why didn't you wait until your official anniversary to post since you left us waiting in suspense for 2 days after 1,999 anyway?

You speak a lot of truth, I spend way too much time checking in here during work to, but it is only because I can count on some interesting conversations going on with a good group of guys. Congratulations on 2,000 and I look forward to many more!
