I'll check in with Frontier Airlines this afternoon, although we already have our seats assigned to us, so don't have to set a reminder to hit it at exactly 24 hours out.
They're still calling for snow tonight and tomorrow, but the expected totals have been steadily dropping.
The last time we flew down to Orlando (March 2009), Milwaukee's airport was hit with 14" of snow. Not the city of Milwaukee, mind you, just the area immediately around the airport. We were delayed about 2 hours or so, and by the time we took off and circled around to the south, I could see the parking lot of Miller Park barely had any snow in it. :confused3:mad:
Keep your fingers crossed kids, because if we want to meet up with Steve, Carl, Christian, Dave, et al at Ghirardelli's at 7:00, we can't have any delays.

good luck w/ the snow. Question: What's the benifit of the On-line check in for the resorts? Don't you still have to go to the desk for you KTTW cards? (or however they're abbreviated) Can you request lodging if you check-in early? Looking at the map, i'd REALLY like blding 14 at POR, but you can't request a specific location w/ the reservation.:confused3

Ghiradelli's.....

Edit: Boss is out today, hence the increased # of daytime posts

I've done some searching through out the DIS boards for the answer to this so forgive me if it's posted somewhere already.

Does Disney give any kind of Educator Discount on either tickets or vacation packages. My wife is a teacher and any discount we can get for future trips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

There is some benefit. You can make another room request when you do it, and it never hurts to remind them a few times of where you would like to be.
Also, if you leave a credit card on file to room charges, you can enter it all there, rather than taking the time to do it at the check in desk.
Mostly its a time saver. When you get there, they have a special line for people that checked in online. It's usually shorter, plus they have all of your keys printed out and your welcome folder/packet all made up already.

Alright dads, here's an update, DW went to Indy for her interview on Monday, it was one exhausting day for her, she flew out Sunday night, interviewed Monday at 9:00am, and was on a plane back by 12:30pm, finally landing in Florida at 5:30pm. She believes that she did well, but we haven't let our hopes get too high......
Glad to hear that there's (maybe) some good news there. Hope it works out. She's probably glad was this past Monday and not the next.... This coming weekend is going to be cold and snowy!

Snow? Milwaukee? December? Really????

I hope you guys can get out ok... Hopefully it won't be too much snow and they can stay ahead keeping things clear.

Nor will I hold being a Herd fan against you...:) I've actually had season tickets to the Rockets games for the last 6 years or so. 2000-2002 were some fun years....a lot of back and forth battles. And MAC Championship games too! Ah...those were the days....

i AGREE those WERE THE DAYS!!!!We have sgtruggled since then and Herd sports are a shadow of their former self!!! CUSA is great and all..but...you got to have a team to win on the field or the court and we just can't seem to right that ship in football or basketball!

I wonder if we shoudl maybe have links to pages to facebook pages listed together someplace...to make it easier for new members to find us there when they join the DDC

Ownage!!

I'm boB. I checked, and my name isn't next to my name. My father has the same first name, so around 14, I decided i'd spell my name backwards, so if someone called, they could say "the boB that spells his name backwards" and it's stuck. So, boB is correct, Bob is not. (though mail gets to me either way.)

I have a similar issue to the same name. Both my poppa and myself are “Robert”, but I’m not a “junior” (and don’t want to be). He goes by Bob and over time I moved from Robby (not my choice) to the too formal Robert on to Rob, but I rather like your solution to the problem. Actually our last name also happens to be a palindrome, so If I were to follow the same line of thought that you used, I could have spelled both my first and last name with the capital at the end (The teachers would have loved that )

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome. Look forward to great conversation!

"...More Beer? What For? Nothing Helps..." Maybe Gaston should've tried a Scotch!

May I add to the chorus of Welcomes. We’re glade to have you along.
And… I’ll take that Scotch if Gaston doesn’t want it. :lmao:

Hopefully things won’t get too out of hand. Have a great trip. Wish I could say that I’ll see you down there, but we don’t head out until the 17th, so I’ll miss most of y’all.

The only educator discounts I know of are for the Swan and Dolphin resorts.

First of all... welcome to TFNG! :cool1:

Well, we just canceled our upcoming reservation at All-Star Movies at the end of January. But, no worries: we decided since we were renting a car anyway - for WWoHP at IoA - and are not doing the dining plan, we would try out a recommended condo in Windsor Hills. We have heard good things about this one, so we booked it (after my extensive research gene took over and had me check into all options for two weeks.) 3BR condo for around the same price as a Disney Value resort! I was surprised.

Has anyone else stayed at a condo in Windsor Hills (or another close development?) If so, what was your experience like? I am pretty much sold on the idea, but it never hurts to exhaust all avenues of data-gathering, right?!

Go Frogs!:cheer2:

Say it isn't so....I was there in January for the deep freeze down there. I can't take another "winter in Florida" trip.

I hope it warms up for you guys.

:lmao: there calling for colder weather next week.:lmao: when do you leave?

Welcome to all of our new Dads!

I'm home guys, back in Indiana. It was another great trip to Southern California. Disneyland. Good friends. Making new memories. Disneyland. Reliving old memories. Disneyland. California Adventure. World of Color (5x). Staying at the Grand Californian. Family time. Great food. Disneyland. Time with coworkers. Celebrating my 10th anniversary with the company (Wednesday) while there. Disneyland. Adding some new Disney books to my collection. Oh and did I possibly mention Disneyland?

Now it's two sleeps in my own bed... and then a trip down to Walt Disney World. Can't wait!!! :yay:

On a sad note, the world lost a great one today in the passing of Ron Santo. Good ol' #10 was a great baseball player (who should be in the Hall of Fame), but more importantly he was a courageous humanitarian who showed great strength through his health struggles and ordeals. His charitable efforts helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars over the years in the support of diabetic research. He will be missed by all of his fans and supporters. Rest in peace Ronnie!:littleangel:

Even as a Cardinal fan, I couldnt agree more. Thinking about how he had to have struggled playing all those years and still playing at such a high level with his health issues is absolutley amazing! RIP Ronnie Santo, the game of baseball will miss you tremendoulsy

As one of the newer members, I should of taken some more time to intruduce myself.

My name is Mike and I am a 32 year old teacher and coach in Iowa. Which is waaaay to far from Disney for me. My wife is also a teacher and we have an 8 year old daughter and 3 year old son.

Our only trip to the World was 3 years ago at Christmastime and we are dying to get back. Ok, I am, the wife not so much, but she enjoyed the trip, but not as much as me. It's amazing to see it through your kids' eyes and see it for what it's worth. It only took one time to truly see how special of a place it is. Hoping to get back within the next year by sticking to our plan to get a bigger house before our next trip...which is probably the "practical" thing to do, but how fun is that? My daughter and I love to revisit the World with all of your great trip reports and making our to do lists before our next visit is even planned.

Thanks to you all for letting us live vicariously through you and your trips....we LOVE it!!:worship:

Hello All You Dis Dad's....

My name is Scott and I too am a Dad who loves Disney.

I'm 33, from Ohio, and have two DD's....DD3 and DD16months. Oh and the DW too. Yes I'm a Man among Princesses.

My girls love all things Disney and have been to WDW every year since they were born.

Unfortunately, we've only done a 1 day trip to MK each year as we vacation in Daytona Beach, FL. My wife and her sisters have always gone to Daytona Beach each year since they were in college...so it's tradition.

I'm hoping to change the tradition soon and thankfully everyone in the family agrees that we must make a WDW full week trip very soon.

Currently we're scheduled to visit MK again in April during the Spring Break rush.... I know we're nuts...but we always go on vacation during Spring Break each year.

So please consider this post my "application for membership"!

Scott

p.s. Anyone else forced to sing the "guy" parts of the Disney Princess music in the car with their wife and daughter(s)? Aladdin, Gaston...etc..

Welcome to the Jungle, Scott!

Actually, I usually sing all the Princess parts. I also like to stand in front of the mirror and sing "I Feel Pretty" from West Side Story.

I have issues.
