Sadly, that's what made the letter L pull his sponsorship of the show. He didn't agree with all of the sex and violence that the Children's Television Workshop had to put in to stay competitive in the ratings.

Some letters are such prudes. Don't even get me started on G. :headache:

Thanks for he the birthday wishes, guys. I guess at 32, it's all downhill from her, huh?

No, not at all! I'd say you still have 4 months of quality youth left, easy.

Oh lookie - I've hit another milestone post... only 1,111 more until the next similarly, nearly matching post

And here I am thinking 1,000 is a big deal...

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Funny you should say that. I wasn't able to tell DW the news until around 9:30 last night due to open houses at our school (she's PTA president). So the conversation went a little like this:

:happytv:

Me: "Honey, I have some bad news to tell you."
DW: "Uh oh... what did you do now?"
Me: "I didn't do anything! Seriously! Got an email from Carnival today..."
DW: "And?"
Me: "They cancelled our cruise."
[Dramatic pause]
DW: "What do you mean they cancelled our cruise?? They can't do that! Why did they cancel it?"
Me: "I don't know."
DW: "What do you mean 'you don't know'?"
Me: [silence while DW reads the email from Carnival]
[Another dramatic pause]
DW then looks at me and says: "Well, I guess that's God's way of saying we aren't supposed to go on a cruise then." :sad1:
[My face gets a big smirk ]
DW: "Oh no you don't! You are NOT sucking me in! Seriously?" [She starts laughing]
 So.. guess what site was immediately accessed? :rolleyes1

Funny how these things work out popcorn::

 Words cannot express how shocked I am at this turn of events. :rotfl2:

And not a drop of rain in the greater Richmond metro area either. I wasn't looking for a monster like when Isabel rolled through Virginia, but some rain would have been nice. All in all, this was a big non-event.. Kinda like Y2K.

I was at a buddy's house on Y2K eve. As the countdown got closer, we stationed ourselves by the light switches and when it hit zero, we plunged the house into darkness. Pretty low-tech, but it was worth it for the sudden gasps and few seconds of awkward silence from the other guests. Then they realized the TV was still working and accused us of being "dorks".

I thought that the cake was for Jasmine was a nice touch. :rotfl2:

Well, he isn't call BIG BIRD for nothing! Worms surely aren't the only things in his diet to help him get so big :lmao:
Rumor has it he was seen leaving BALCO with Barry Bonds and Marion Jones...

Barry, :welcome: to 32!!!!!!!!!!

I can only take you being 32 for 2 months though, then I will move on to greener pastures, as I will soon be {insert The Jefferson's theme song here} :rolleyes1 'Movin' on up' to 33!
Ha! You're old!

I hope I dont get kicked off this thread for this but Im going to suggest a book to read to all the Dads with daughters. No it doesnt have pictures but the author typed it slowly becuase he knew Dads cant read fast. It's call Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters. Great book! Will help you understand the Mom/ daughter relationship and yours as well.

Please forgive me, we now return to your regulary scheduled jabbing!
That looks like a good read. Lord knows I'm going to need all the help I can get trying to understand the relationship between DW and DD. The regular mother/daughter stuff, then toss on the adoption and the mixed race... DS and I may have to build a panic room in the basement for ourselves.

DW then looks at me and says: "Well, I guess that's God's way of saying we aren't supposed to go on a cruise then." :sad1:

Ah, another busy and productive day at work for Don. :thumbsup2

Sweet. I'm going to grow my hair long and wear baggy jeans until January! :woohoo:

Dorks? DORKS? More like masters of comedy!:worship::worship:

Perfect! Who wants a piece?

Edit: I had to remove most of the dancers, etc. Multi-quoting you guys pushed me over the 25 picture limit!

Barry, :welcome: to 32!!!!!!!!!!

Ha! You're old!

PUPS!!!
32!!!... 33!!!... Y’all children ain’t got a clue about what old is (and that’s a good thing :thumbsup2). You’re more then a decade away from the point where Madison Avenue and the entire media complex will declare you to be utterly irrelevant and pointless and about two decades away from the point where your employers do the same (regardless of your skills). Take your time and enjoy your extended childhood, and by the way…

Happy Birthday Barry!! :cool1: :cool1:

============================

Well… The Labor Day weekend has arrived, and around our house that means it’s time to do some labor. I’ll be spending the long weekend repainting the entry hall, front room, living room and the stairwell. :headache: Days off of work are merely time away from work were I can do the rest of the work (Lord I need to get down to WDW… December needs to get here sooner :sad2:).

Hope y’all have a great holiday planed. Take care and thanks for letting me be on this thread!

Just sayin'....

I liked the "techie" stuff with the Prius when it first came out.. to me it seemed like a big toy to see how much milage you could get out of one tank of gas.. but thanks to my wife and friends.. I've come to fall in love again with my gas guzzling 12 MPG Nissan Frontier, with all of it's V6 pep. Oh and one more thing.. did I mention it is PAID OFF :yay:

Okay. Forget the previous post. You obviously were helped back to reality. Car being paid off is definently a good thing. :thumbsup2

And not a drop of rain in the greater Richmond metro area either. I wasn't looking for a monster like when Isabel rolled through Virginia, but some rain would have been nice. All in all, this was a big non-event.. Kinda like Y2K.

A HA....I knew I wasn't the only one. I've been through Hugo (Direct hit) and Katrina (Direct Hit) and numerous others in Myrtle Beach when I was a Smokey.

I love me a good storm.....I get excited when one gets close to us....DW thinks I'm nuts...but then again, she knows how I am:lmao::lmao:

I will add that I don't wish bad vibes on anyone...I'm just...well, an Adrenaline Junky. Who woulda' figured:confused3. We all have our vices I guess:goodvibes

Well forgive me for not sharing your thoughts and "excitement" for hurricanes.. where I'm from, we don't like 'em much.. As I recall the last one we had wasn't a good time :guilty:

I hope and pray we NEVER have another one!!! You guys are welcomed to all the rest!!!! ;)

You're joking, right???

Okay. Forget the previous post. You obviously were helped back to reality. Car being paid off is definently a good thing. :thumbsup2

Nah.. not at first.. I was serious.. I test drove one.. and liked it.. then my wife and friends stepped in...

Now I'm starting to have dreams of the Nissan Leaf..

[sigh] Whippersnappers. :sad2:

Barry, GET OFF OLD MAN AJRitz's LAWN! We'll wait till nightfall then sneak in and get our football back:woohoo:

DW: "What do you mean they cancelled our cruise?? They can't do that! Why did they cancel it?"
Me: "I don't know."
DW: "What do you mean 'you don't know'?"

I know our wives consider us the ultimate source for all information in the universe but why do they always ask these questions?:confused3

When I called DW the other day when the bus hadn't shown up she asked me "Why hasn't it come yet?", followed by "How much longer do you think it will be?"

.

Yeah I know...it's just one of those things I guess:lmao::lmao:

I got sent to New Orleans two days before Katrina hit, and I was there for quite a while....

I guess my post came out a little Wrong:upsidedow It's the heat...:lmao:

Dorks? DORKS? More like masters of comedy!:worship::worship:

Maybe it should read, "Dorks... und genius!"

(You know me, I never met a running gag I didn't like)

I dunno, there are a lot of people that already think I'm utterly irrelevant and pointless.

Barry, GET OFF OLD MAN AJRitz's LAWN! We'll wait till nightfall then sneak in and get our football back:woohoo:

Make sure you hit him with the ol' flaming bag of dog poo too! :thumbsup2

Careful, don't make him mad...

Oooo, thanks! I've been trying to come up with another movie with a not so happy ending to sucker DW into, she can't stand movies with dark endings. So far this week I've made her sit through Watchmen, and The Last Samurai. I may need to squeeze this in before Arlington Road.

If you are looking for movies with really dark endings, then you need to see The Mist. It’s based on the Steven King novel of the same name, and is one of the darkest endings I've ever seen. I had never read the book, but always wanted to, so when the movie came out, I saw it, and felt so awful after.
Requiem for a Dream is another one. Both of these are incredibly dark, but for very different reasons.

Heads up that the movie and the book have slightly different endings. Overall, I liked the book better, but the movie's ending was truly shocking.

I work pretty closely with Chrysler and they are having their Dealer Announcement Show pretty soon.
The good news: it's in Orlando!:cool1:
Bad news: I'm away for three days during DD's first full week of kindergarten.:guilty:
Good news: We get discounted theme park tickets!:woohoo:
Bad news: The tickets are for Universal, not Disney.:headache:

I don't think I'll buy the tickets even with the discount. I'll have plenty of time on my arrival day to goof off so I think I'll just get in a cab and chill out at a resort. Maybe Grand Floridian or AKL.
