My college team is an up-and-coming school who has only been playing in a BCS conference for a few years and already has a couple bowl wins under their belts including a Big East championship.

We're toast this year, what with our QB going to play Major League Baseball (good for him, I'd do the same thing) and what would have been our back up playing for you.....yeah, 5 wins, maybe 6

On another note, there's a pleasant little cold front that's come through southern Iraq today....

It's a pleasant 118 degrees, and with the wind chill it doesn't feel a degree over 117

Believe it or not, 13 degrees south of 131 makes a difference...that flight from Baghdad to Ali Al Salem was the hottest I have been in a looooong time

Turns out, i have a flickr account. here's an attempt to post a picture of the car my DW made me get. I wanted a Civic LX sedan...

okay, i uploaded the picture to flickr, but it won't show. So, i left the URL and set the permission to public. If you're interested...

Well, creating the account and uploading pictures is half the battle. What you need now is the URL of the photo itself. To get that, click on "All Sizes" above your photo on Flickr.

Then select the size you want to share on the DIS. Medium or Large will probably work best. Scroll down to where is says "Grab the photo's URL".

Copy the text that is in the box (Clicking in the box will highlight the text. Then hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard, then press "C"), and return to your DIS post page.


Click on the this button:

A new box will pop up asking for the URL of the image. Paste (Ctrl+V) the URL that you copied from Flickr and click OK.

You'll then see something similar to this in your message:

You can then continue typing your message, add more pictures, or click "Submit Reply". Your picture should be posted for all of us to enjoy!

Detroit was a NorthWest hub and now there are a lot of Delta flights from here. Spirit also flies from here and I probably could get a cheaper flight on Spirit but by the time you add in all the fees it would probably cost more.

Spirit...aren't they the ones that charge a fee for any oxygen breathed during the flight?

I have been trying hard to see if there's anyway I could get down there for my birthday at the beginning of October - but no. But mid-October, that might be possible... hmmm. Maybe, just maybe I could sneak in an extra visit this fall...

...doubtful really, but I can sure try and try now can't I?!? I'm constantly looking at "possibilities" for getting down to FL or out to CA.

You know, there's still time to massage the dates for that September trip of yours...

College football in Syracuse is the ORANGEMEN. WE had a fantastic basketball team this past season. Should have won the DANCE but under estimated the team that beat them. Now our top few players are headed to the NBA Good for them bad for us.
As for the football team. I hope we do well. Its been a rocky road for the Orangemen the last ten years or so. One can only hope.

I have friend who's mom lives south of the cheese curtain (in Illinois) She was getting my friend's husband a set of Bucky Badger head covers for his golf clubs. She had to ask my friend "What is this thing, a skunk?"

I can see how someone who doesn't know better might think that. Bucky's alright though, I'm a Big Ten guy, so as long as they aren't playing my team I like Wisconsin... basketball's another story though. Wisconsin fans are pretty good though, I went up to Madison about 6 years ago with a group of 8 to watch our team win on a late FG. Instead of getting pelted in the back of the head by flying objects or something, we had several people offer to buy us a beer after the game. Hopefully this will be a good year for us... LB was our weak spot last year, and should be much better, but we have a very inexperienced secondary. Plenty of depth on the offenisive side, except for some injuries at RB... lots of talent there if we can get some guys healthy. Look forward to seeing the Hurricane reject Marve fill in for a couple of years while our young QB's get some seasoning. He should have some good targets to throw to anyway.

When the conversation starts to turn towards college football, I always lament the fact that I went to a D-3 school that doesn't even have a football team. When I tell people where I went, I frequently get asked "Oh, is that co-ed now?". That doesn't do much for the ego. I think the homecoming game several years back was soccer.... women's soccer, that is.

For some reason, I used to have nightmares about twisters coming through the neighborhood I grew up in here in Easton. I've never even seen a real one, other than a "water spout" when I was on Guam, so I don't know how those nightmares started.

Do the nightmares involve witches and flying monkeys? I used to have that one all the time.
