We will be making our first trip to SSR this feb. I know it is a very large resort broken into different areas. Congress Park, The Paddock and The Springs. I was wondering if anoy could describe or knows where I could find a description of each area so we can make an educated request for a room location. Our little group is just me DW and DD who is three. Thanks. :thumbsup2

I would suggest the springs section as it's closest to the pool and carriage house.

This map is pulled off the members web-sight for SSR it has more detail at the bottom.

Map below shows the Carriage house with the 3 Springs buildings then across the lake (bridge access) is the 5 Paddocks and to the right across from DTD is 4 Congresspark area .
The two parts with white dots are the new sections being built.

We were in one of the middle paddocks building for our June trip and it was not that bad. 2nd bus stop . Spings is also the last stop sometimes and the bus might be full so thats another thought.

I would agree the Springs section would be a good choice. We stayed there last Feb. and the buses were not a problem. Our rm had a nice view of the lake. Short walk to main pool, bus stop and the Carriage house.

Congress park has the best non themed pool and views of Downtown Disney, it is also the best location for walking to Downtown Disney. Four buildings and a centrally located pool and bus stop.

The springs has 3 buildings and is directly across the street from the main pool, check in area and dining. I personally do not think some of these views are as good as other locations but the location is great.

The Paddocks has 5 buildings, a small pool and two bus stops. These bus stops are the first to be picked up and the first dropped off, so that is nice. There is a bridge near the middle buildings taking you directly over to the Springs and the main building. This is area is further removed from the main pool and main building but very nice views and very quiet.

You can view the map for actual layout of the buildings.

I used the following descriptions of benefits/issues in a poll for the group I'm traveling with in December.

The Springs is closest to check-in, the restaurant, and the "feature" (i.e., fancy) pool, so it gets points for convenience. There are three buildings, so it's the smallest of the sections. That may make it more difficult to get into. Also, because of its proximity to the High Rock Spring pool, it doesn't have a separate quiet pool. It's stop 3 or 4 on the bus route. (There were three stops when I was there in May, but people are now saying that there are four.)

Congress Park is the oldest section and is adjacent to the Carriage House/check-in area. The four buildings are a short walk or bus ride from check-in. It's across the lake from Downtown Disney and, thus, can have great views and the shortest walk to DTD. It has a large quiet pool of its own. Congress Park is the second or third bus stop.

The Paddock is the newest currently open section. It's on the opposite side of the resort's pond (lake? inlet?) from the Carriage House area. There are five buildings, making it the largest section in the resort. It has its own quiet pool. If the Carousel section is open in December, however, it will not have a pool and guests staying there will probably use the Paddock pool. The Paddock shares one bus stop with the Carousel and has another stop in the middle of the section. These are the first two stops on the route.

The Carousel section is still under construction, though it's scheduled to open this winter. There are two buildings and no pool. However, if it's open, it will be brand-spankin' new. It's the smaller of the two dashed-line "future construction" sections on this map.

So far, the Springs is winning my poll!
