Anyone know why the deluxe resorts are totally booked up Dec. 5-11th? I know football and cheerleading is Dec. 2-8 but thought they just took over the value resorts. :confused3 (I know the recommendation is to avoid the values at this time, but with it being a time of low attendance for regular folk, I'm surprised the deluxes are sold out already.)

Are ALL of the deluxes booked? Last year all of the monorail resorts were booked because of the parade taping the first weekend in Dec., but I don't think that would fill places like YC/BC.:confused3

Mousefest usually takes place about this time every December. A lot of people usually come down for that.

Did you call CRO? The online site is showing availablity for the GF, the YC, and AKL for sure. I didn't check the rest.

It's a low point value time for the DVC resorts, so many DVC folks flock down at that time of year. First two weeks of December actually.

I know lots of DVC'ers on waitlist for that time frame - but CRO should still have inventory.

When I checked last night, the only deluxe available was AKL with bunks ... we are a group of three adults and the third adult (me) is not paying that kind of $$$ to sleep in a bunk!!! :)

This was around midnight though, maybe the CRO system was updating??

Then again, when I pushed the arrival date back (tried 6th, 7th, 8th) there was more availability at most of the deluxes.

From what I gather from previous posts, its better to call CRO than to rely just on what the website says is available?

My arrival time is a little later than your's. Dec 8 -14. I was able to book WL w/o a problem. However, I did have to book courtyard view as woods view was not listed.

There is no off time anymore at Disney.

All of December is much busier due to the fact that the word is out about the Christmas decorations and special events.

It's no secret that the first two weeks of December are value season. Though we were there at that time, and it wasnt any different than regular season. Hmm...go figure.

And it's worth noting that Disney just extended park hours for the month of December on lots of dates. I think they expect a VERY busy month from start to finish!

the only vacanies on expedia - were for All star Music and Movies - everything else seems to be full.

so yes the deluxes resorts are full.

is that the weekend of them taping the MVMCP? or was that earlier?

The parade taping is unofficially the 1st weekend but I think Mousefest may be that next weekend. If it is, I know my TA mentioned having blocks of rooms reserved for that, I'm guessing they will release those rooms at some point if they're not sold.

I was surprised about this too! I was looking to add a day to our stay on Dec. 8th at the Poly and couldn't find anything online. I knew about Pop Warner, Mousefest and the parade taping, but it still doesn't really make sense. I ended up adding 2 nights off site since we will be going to Sea World.

Has anyone called Disney directly or just checked online?

Could it be possible that the renovations of some deluxe resorts maybe made some people take a detour to another deluxe and some deluxe rooms are closed due to the renovations? Just a thought?:confused3

I called and checked online a few weeks ago, and availablity was definately getting scarce at the MK and Epcot deluxes. Concierge only at WL, suites only at CR, and no standard view at the BC/YC. Checked again last weekend, when we were trying to decide about changing our dates, and there is nothing at WL, CR, or BC, concierge only at YC, lagoon view only at Poly and GF.

I think the deluxes are more popular during that time than usual, because people like my family, who are usually happy with the moderates, don't want to take a chance on Pop Warner overflow crowds. I know that's why we didn't even think about a mod for Dec, even though CSR & CBR are available.

Either way, the limited availability in early Dec is making me glad we decided to change our dates to January!

:sad1: I checked the website again today ... nothing's really changed.

Things do seem to be opening up by Dec. 8th though ... have any of you done a split stay ... how time consuming/frustrating was it?

Also, does pop warner overflow to CBR and CSR? Has anyone been there when this happened? We were seriously considering CSR instead of a deluxe.
