My DD (11) had the word "poise" as one of her new vocabulary words for the week. I was trying to explain it and she just wasn't getting it.
Then today at her dance recital, she had a "wardrobe malfunction." The instructor had told everyone to sew snaps onto their straps and criss-cross them in the back. Midway through the dance, one of DD's straps came unsnapped. I was praying that the second one would hold, but no such luck. Fortunately the girls all wear a flesh-colored leotard under their costumes so at least everything was still covered because by the end, the top of her costume was somewhere near her waist. She did try to use part of the dance to pull it back up, but she never stopped dancing. Afterwards I said to her , "Remember when you wanted to know what poise was? It was what you did." I was so proud when she showed up on stage for her next dance and looked like nothing had happened at all. Thank goodness the next costume had the straps securely sewed in!

Had to do a double take when I heard that one. I was in the hospital, but I promise, I WASN'T on pain meds when she spit that out.
