OK, so I've heard here and there that I gotta take the kids to Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe because they have an animatronic alien show. Truth, or fiction? Is it the equivalent of Chuck E. Cheese's? How often are the shows, continuous? Thanks for any info you've got. Oh, and by the way, how's the food?

Its a continuous audioanimatronic lounge act with corny jokes and familiar music with space lyrics. Hasn't changed in 20 years, my kids enjoy it. I wouldn't go with huge expectations, but we always end up there.

Food is basic Disney counter service. The weird thing about Rays is that its really three different counter service restaurants - one that does burgers, one that does chicken, and one that does sandwiches and salads (we find the portions on the sandwiches to be large enough to share) - which can make it a little difficult if everyone wants something different and your kids aren't old enough to stand in line. They have a good fixing bar for the burgers.

my dd liked the whole show and it was something to do with DH while I waited in line for food. I wouldn't do burgers there. Their chicken combo plate and turkey wraps are excellent.

Yes...it's very much like ChucK E Cheese.

Cosmic Rays is one of the most crowd pleasing TS in MK so we always end up there. Most of the time the aliens are dormant and then it's more peaceful.

If you scroll down through this link there are pics of Sonny Eclipse. I think SE is more like Bill Murray's lounge lizard act from SNL... :dancer:

and get a chuckle out of it. The above poster is right very much the Bill Murray lounge lizard act.

Huh???? Cosmic Rays is NOTHING like Chuck E. Cheese. Chuck E. Cheese is an arcade -- At Cosmic Ray's there's no games, no prizes, no open mike or kids dancing to music, nothing to climb on, etc.

The other posters described it best: Standard Disney CS x 3 (we did wind up waiting in all 3 lines) with an automotronic Bill Murray-like lizard.

I was comparing the lounge act to the robotic rat at Chuck E Cheese and that's all.

Somewhere in this thread about Cosmic Ray's there is a link to one of Sonny Eclipse's songs, "Planetary Boogie". The comparisons to Bill Murray's lounge lizard routine are not quite fair -- Sonny has a much better voice and his songs are really funny!

We like Cosmic Ray's, but OP is right, if everyone wants something different then it's 3 different lines you'll stand in! :confused3
We have noticed, occassionally, something odd: there are many lines & often there will be a couple with very few folks, while the others are jamming--so we just jump in the sparse lines & get whatever--It's odd, but we have been able to do this several times~
We do like the decor & the show! :teeth:

How can anyone compare the technology and entertainment value of Disney to that of Chuck E. Cheese? :confused3

My son loves "planetary boogie" on the CD which I believe comes from here.

Its CS(counter service) not TS(table service). Just wanted to clarify. Kids love the topping bar for the hamburgers (especially the cheese sauce for the fries) and its a nice place to sit in the A/C while they run over to Indy (the longest line besides Dumbo).

We like Columbia Harbor House better but, the rotissere chicken is good & DS likes the chicken noodle soup (he eats it several times a week @ home & starts jones-ing for it while on vacation).

Downside - the sep. lines are a pain, it's very noisy & the salads swim in the dressing - yeeech!
