Lynn -- I'm the same way. Andrew always looks over at me dejected if he strikes out, like he's failed me. I just give him the thumbs up and tell him he can't hang his head if he hustled and tried his best.

Another of the things we did this year was year round pitching/hitting lessons. Andrew really wanted to do that so we made the commitment in time and money to take him each week that we could fit in a lesson.

I'm just so proud of him for the progress he has made. I'm terrified that the games this week will set him back if he plays poorly against these great teams.

That's why I asked for the extra PD for him for this week. Thank you so much, my friends!

Austin's last game was Saturday night and yes he did strike out his 3rd time at bat. The 1st time at bat he was hit in the foot on the 1st pitch. The 2nd time at bat he got on 1st because of the catcher dropped the ball on the 3rd strike. If the catcher drops the ball on the 3rd strike you can still run to 1st base and he reached 1st base before the catcher could recover the ball and throw to the 1st baseman. It was a good game but they still lost.

Alex's last game is Wednesday night so I will definitely be thinking of you while I am sitting there watching Alex saying, "Bless him Lord, Bless him Lord, etc......". Of course God always tells us to pray specific so sometimes I even throw in there ......"so he can hit the ball in the outfield".......I mean if you are going to pray that he doesn't strike out you may as well pray for a good hit......right :0) :cheer2:

I gotta finish getting ready and head to work. Talk to ya'll later.

**Update on Andrew and another request

This season has been a turning point for my son Andrew (age 10) in baseball. His coach from last year and several of the parents of players on that team have come over to me during/after games to comment on the progress Andrew has made. He is enjoying himself, still learning a lot and developing more self-confidence. As many of you remember, he has ADHD, dyslexia, a verbal expressive disorder (has trouble decoding but not articulating) and sensory issues. He excels at soccer but really wants to be able to keep up with his cousin who is awesome at baseball.

Andrew also got a boost in self-confidence last week at his end of school awards ceremony. He received perfect attendance (for the third year in a row), a citizenship award (he received the most votes from teachers for a third grader), an award for improvement in creative writing AND was voted on by his class for the citizenship award for their advisory.

All of this from a child who was considered to be a problem child in pre-school because his ***** teacher couldn't tell he had all those issues!

I'm coming to you tonight to ask for more good thoughts and Pixie Dust for him as the two baseball games (and wrap-up of a game under protest) this week are the most important of the season. While winning would be great, I'm most concerned with Andrew playing his best so that he can continue to build on his achievements/self-confidence. You guys were so wonderful the last time, and I truly believe the will of the DDA (along with his hard work!!) helped him.

Thanks again for your help. I am indeed, indebted to you all.

Marci
Marci, I totally understand about wanting to help your child build confidence. Lots of positive thoughts coming your way! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Congratulations to Andrew for all of the awards. That's great!!!!!

Not me, them, all of them are just about thisclose from me losing it and they should be hoping they get back in my good graces shortly.
I know part of it is I am not sleeping and stressed but I get so tired of the same arguments over and over that I give up. :guilty:
Sorry for the rant.

Looking at airfare right now(I know it could change)would be about $380 RT. I would have a layover in Atlanta(Hi Denise  ). I just do not think I could make it in Feb, if I take my ds in Jan. Sept. might be a possibility, I don't know. Like I said there is always next time & there is still plenty of time to decide :)

Is it because of airfare difference from DL compared to DW?? I thought the same thing thinking it would be really expensive from Atl to CA compared to Atl to FL. But.............I priced roundtrip on Airtran and the DL flight was only about $75 more than the DW flight.

pixiedust: :tink: :grouphug: :cheer2: and :wizard: to all who need it, particularly Garrett and Andrew (who need it for opposite reasons).

Hope the finger gets better. Does it feel jammed in the knuckle? Maybe you need to pull the tip of it to pop the knuckle and get it back in place. They did that to me last time I broke a toe (yes, I've tripped over the same suitcase TWICE and broken a toe on each foot  ) and it helped. I had no idea it was jammed, just felt broken.

It looks much better this morning. The swelling is starting to go down a bit. I can even bend it a little. It is still a nasty shade of purple, but that will take time to clear up I'm sure.

Oh my gosh! That sounds like so much fun! But now you have to name names! I want to know who did what! Did Marti go on the Segway tour with you?
Ok, I'm not ashamed. I was the one with the small crash. But just for the record, it wasn't into a person! More like a small post. Marti opted out of the tour and spent the time with her family.

Speaking of praying...could everyone please say a little prayer for me today?

I'm taking Christopher to Chuck E. Cheese :scared1:

I especially like #20 (Pal Mickey with Minnie). :lmao:
She loved all over him. Some of the characters were really funny with him. Like Donald, for instance, wouldn't let him be in the picture.:rotfl:

Day 3 - May 20

I am going to start with just the Segway report - I imagine Tammi might want to add more too

Our guides were Phil - he is a retired Doctor and does this for fun - the other one was (Shoot I forget his name) but he was younger and from NY - they were both a LOT of fun!!
PETER!!

I second Kate's recommendation. It was really a lot of fun. They also give you a segway tour pin at the end, for you pin traders.

I'm caught up. I think I'll try to type up Nick's sugaring outline. He can cut out the sentences and glue them to the posterboard when he gets home. Hopefully he will finish tonight as he has concerts tomorrow night and Thursday night. I wonder why the teachers would assign major projects the same week that the kids have 2 concerts. The concerts were scheduled at the beginning of the year so it's no surprise. :scared1:

I think I might need to take some fly lady advice to get a little housework done today. I can do 15 minutes of anything right ;)

Next time don't leave so many spaces between sentences. You had me really scared there for about 15 seconds. But yes.....a trip at Chuck E Cheese definitely requires prayers prior to arriving.......and during......and after. Have Fun!!

Ok, I speak to sit next to Tia on Space Mountain!!!!!

That would be so cool! So, is February pretty good for you?

Depends on when. Our WDW is early Feb, but I might be able to do DL as well since that it just a plane fare if it's the last half of the month. Plus, depending on what days we go, my pass may still be good.

For the May 18ther's: Did they offer any fastpasses for Soarin'? :teeth: Or did anyone in your group ask them if they could get one while they were Segwaying?

What a great week Andrew has had! Congratulations on his awards. All it takes is the acceptance, understanding and help of those around you for anyone to excel! Buckets of :wizard: for his games this week!!

Hey Chanon, our front page news story today is the owners of Cedar Point bought Kings Island! :cool1:

Amy :)

Sending lots of :wizard: and :grouphug: to all of you and your kiddos who need some this week!

I'm sorry this is so impersonal! I'm trying to stay caught up, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. Boy did we have a busy weekend (signing our bridge loan, two birthday parties, a baby shower, the zoo, the showing, the open house...)

Amy :)

So, I really have no idea how the 9 a.m. Sunday showing went, since we were at breakfast and church. My mother-in-law said she drove by at 9:30 a.m. and they were still here. That showing wasn't with our realtor.

Now, I can give you a few details on the open house. Our realtor called us (we were at the zoo) freaking out about our cat around 12:30 (the open house was from 12-2). No one had showed up yet, but she claimed the cat was hissing and swiping at her. For the first open house, we had caged Lucy up, but her howling was so obnoxious, I really thought it would be better just to let her roam free. We told our realtor just to ignore her, but she admitted she hates cats and she swatted at her with a towel, which obviously ticked Lucy off. Kevin tried to tell her to walk out in the garage, letting the cat follow her, and then to just shut the door, but considering we found a note when we got home that said the cat was swiping at the one person who showed up, I guess she didn't do that. Her note went on to say "we really need to lock the cat up next time." I was pretty annoyed!

Anyway, we haven't heard any follow-up, but at least we've finally had a couple people walk through.

Amy
