Y'all are going to think I'm such a nut but I can't stop crying. Today was Christopher's last day of Pre-K, which is bad enough in itself, but it was also his last day at this school. We loved this school and were so happy when he was accepted but made the difficult decision to move him to another school that is competitive academically, is a K-12 school (current school only goes to 5th), and has MUCH cheaper tuition once he hits 6th grade. If we turned down the spot at the new school we wouldn't have a chance of ever being accepted again so we decided to move him and at least give it a try. I thought I was OK with our decision, but I've been so sad since I picked him up. I've been trying to hold it together in front of Christopher but I started tearing up when we went through the bag of summer materials she sent home for him. He hugged me and told me it's ok. Damn pregnancy hormones! My 5 year old is handling this better than me!

Thanks for listening.
:grouphug: that your hormones calm down. It sounds like a great opportunity for Christopher.

Speaking of changing schools-

Has anyone ever done a party after 8th grade continuation? :confused3
My uncle (oops I forgot to invite him to the continuation :rolleyes2) asked if there was going to be a party.
First off I don't find that going from one school is another is that big of a deal so I didn't think to invite him(not very involved in the girls lives...more to do with my Grandma) but he will be coming because Grandma invited him  , But he asked if there was going to be a party, we may go out to dinner but a party? :confused3 I asked Cassidy and she said that's what Six Flags is for!! All of the 8th graders get to go to Six Flags for the official last day of school. But I am wondering if this is something I missed and am just clueless (I know I am clueless most of the time but how about for this?)
I cant answer this as I did not hve a graduation from 8th grade or a continuation. I know when my brother had his 5th grade graduation. just my mom and I went. no party. my brothers also had 8th grade graduation. they went to public school after 4th grade for 1 and 6th grade for the other. to both 8th grade graduations it was just my parents and me these were at night. 5th grade was the middle of the day so my dad could not make it. no parties for any of these graduations, Only parties were for high school graduation for all 3 of us and my college graduation,.
sorry so long.

Debbie, hope you start feeling better real soon. :grouphug:

Apparently I'm having a P3. I have to work tonight and then a large group of us are going out to celebrate one of our friends turning 21. This is a really big deal for her. She has been a bartender for years and now she can legally drink. She actually went out last night (this morning) at Midnight and celebrated until 2 AM. Oh to be young again. Anyway Chris and I are actually going out too. I can't remember the last time I was in a bar other than the one I work at so this should prove interesting. My parents are watching Colby and Hunter and Nick is going to a friends for a birthday party sleepover. This is his first sleepover at a friend's house so I'll be armed with my cell phone just in case. Any whoo I'm sure I'll be home early (tomorrow morning that is :rotfl2: ) and I'm not sure what condition I'll be in when I get home so I won't talk to you all until sometime tomorrow. :drinking1 :headache:  :crazy2: :scared: :faint: :confused3 :goodvibes The smilies show my possible conditions :rotfl:

Have a quiet evening.

Deb
Deb I hope you and kitchensinkguy had a great time last night.

Our church is having a dinner/dance tomorrow night which I've been looking forward to for quite a while. However, I just got a phone call telling me that Alan volunteered me to make desserts for the party! I don't mind doing it, honest I don't! However, I would have liked to know about it before now! I've already done the shopping for the week, and now I'm going to have to go out again. I hate doing that as I'm prone to pick up things I don't need on trips like this. Oh well. I've been in the mood to do some baking, so I'm just going to do it and not let hubby know how exasperated I am.

I've decided just to make a few pans of bar cookies and brownies and call it good. There are supposed to be about 1000 people at the function, so I wanted to make things that can be cut into smaller portions to feed more people. Last year, they had 8 people make dessert and ended up with 8 cakes from the local bakery. They ran out after about 100 people. I hope that doesn't happen, this year. It got pretty ugly! Not that I can eat the desserts, but I hate for people to be disappointed!
glynis have fun tonight at the dance. heres :wizard: that they have enough desserts.

Since we are still on the topic of "disciplining" children...

Did anyone else's parents have a set of a HUGE wooden spoon and fork hanging in their orange and yellow 70's kitchen?
OMG yes!!!! I just made her take them down a few years ago :rotfl:

Her kitchen was avocado green, though.

Glynis,

I agree with the taping of the children, (baby Cam)

I know this will sound harsh but when I was taking of my DH's cousin's child, she and my oldest son would really get roudy at times and I told them that if they could not keep quiet and watch the 'potty mouth', I was going to tape their mouths shut. Before I did this, I did discuss it with the mother. She was like whatever works. Had to do it only once for 15 minutes with masking tape and I was so upset but it worked and if I even went for the roll of tape after that, they would shut up immediately.
Your posessions are priceless to you and you have to do whatever it takes.
I second the baby cam and video taping them next time they come over.

Yes, my immediate reaction was to giggle like a teenager. That didn't please Kevin either. ;)

Amy :)

That's always my first reaction, too. For some reason, Alan doesn't find it amusing, either.
