And one more post of random thoughts before I have to leave...

Thank you all for the birthday wishes!!! I really appreciate them all. It was a wonderful day!

Phil seems to have set some confusion in Terra's mind. We were talking at DL about going on Disney trips. I asked if she would go to WDW with me when she was grown and she said, "Of course!" I asked if she would go to WDW with me and bring her kids and she said, "Yes!" I asked if she would marry someone who would got to WDW with us and she looked at me as if I had three heads. Apparently Husbands aren't supposed to go to WDW and she was confused as to why I would suggest that she would marry someone who would.

Can I just say how happy I am to know that my DH does not like my absolute favorite kind of cookie and favorite kind of cake! I may have finally found the trick to not having all of the treats disappear overnight even if I had only made them just before bed. If I make my two favorite things from time to time, he won't eat any. Mean? You would think so if you went to bed one night with one and a half pumpkin pies on the counter, having only eaten one slice yourself, to awaken to NO pie left at all!

And finally, it looks like I will be babysitting once again. Chris is going to start a position as salesman at the local Cadillac dealership sometime this week. Since he will be on comission only, Kristi will continue working for awhile at least. I will have all 3 kids, probably 4 days a week since Chris will be off of work one weekday and working on Saturdays. Best of all, though, we are going to work it so that I have one of their cars a few times a week so that we can get out and do things. That was my one dread...having 4 kids cooped up in the house all summer long with the inability to go anywhere. Now we're making plans for library trips, picinics and field trips.

And speaking of picincs, I've got to run. We are having a family picnic today for birthday. We're picking up BBQ from a local restaurant and taking other yummies to go with it. Terra and I are off to locate a table in the shade and everyone else will meet us soon. I tried to get Mickey plates yesterday to use, but Party City didn't have them anymore. So, we're going with the theme colors on everything - red, yellow and black. :cloud9: I'm so excited!

Catch up with you all later today! Have a great one!!!!

Before I get going for our busy day (Abi is singing at both services at my work church, then the girl's piano recital and than a graduation party)....I thought I would upload what I did yesterday:

We took the girls and one friend or boyfriend (whichever the case may be;) ) to the 16th Street Mall and we ate at Hard Rock and went Lucky Strike Bowling. In the morning I splurged on myself and had my hair cut (about 6 inches in the last week....12 total in less than 6 months) and colored....that's me in the second pic.

I love the hair!!!! You look gorgeous!!!

Ok, I got them loaded up..

Here is Sophie (at rehearsal) doing her tap number. The theme of the recital this year was "colors".

Beautiful girls, Anne Marie! They look like they were having fun, too!

Welcome home, Tia! I can't wait to hear about Disneyland! I'm glad you and Terra had a good time!

Sounds like most of you have great days planned! Things here are a little quiet. Alan left at 4:00 this morning for San Antonio. The Jazz play there tonight and again on Tuesday. Alan will be home sometime late Wednesday night.

I decided not to cook today, as the kids really don't care what they eat, and with Alan gone, I just don't feel up to doing what I had planned. So, we'll head to church in about an hour, and then afterwards, we'll go to KFC for "linner."

Tonight's movie will be Mulan, and I'm making Pumpkin bars for dessert. I also have to make a dozen cupcakes for the school carnival tomorrow. I'm making devil's food cupcakes. Before I bake them, I'm placing an unwrapped Reese's peanut butter cup in the bottom of the liner, then the batter, then bake them. I saw the idea on a talk show, and they looked good! I also had to make a dozen cookies for the carnival, but I got that done on Friday. I made HUGE peanut butter cookies, and tomorrow, I'll sandwich a layer of grape jelly in between two cookies, wrap them up and deliver them with the cupcakes.

I'll be so glad when the carnival is over. This is the main fundraiser for the PTA, and it's a huge thing. The kids love it, but I hate it. It's so hard to corral 4 kids who want to go do their own thing. There are tons of people, as the entire community supports the carnival. It's not uncommon for the carnival to clear $75,000 dollars. Yikes!!! It's hard for me to even think about those numbers!!! Anyway, it is fun for the kids, with games, prizes, train rides, etc. At least it will be over by 7:00 tomorrow night!

I'm off to get ready for Church. Talk to you all later!

Elin - this gave me goosebumps! How wonderful that you've influenced these young people! And how wonderful that she wants to honor you! You really deserve it!

Thanks for being so kind, Glynis.

Sounds like your summer is shaping up very well, Tia. And I am so glad that Chris is starting a new job! :thumbsup2

Hope the picnic is loads of fun!

Ugh, sounds like you had a stressful night! I would be complaining as well. Hopefully they will do something to compensate for their lack of catering service.

Well, my premonition on the caterer last night lived up to my expectations.

Glynis - The carnival sounds like fun, even if it is a pain. I don't think I told you that I am glad Alan will get to see the twins graduate! That's wonderful! I hope he has a good time in San Antonio!

Thanks, Lindsay. I have to say that the rewards I reap as a teacher are one of the reasons salary is not a major issue for me (ARE YOU LISTENING, ELIZABETH?!? ;) ). Bob often says it is probably the one thing he is envious of when it comes to my job. I have little bursts of pride in my students all the time, and when they reciprocate it is very gratifying. :goodvibes

Yes, I am listening. But if this family works out I will be looking at a significant pay increase. Not too shabby.:thumbsup2

I cannot believe that you could possibly have missed anyone, Tia! What a good recap without quotes!

And thanks for the comments. It is good to see you here posting. I have missed you.

That was truly an amazing recap! And you are right. My "liability" of a child has not been an issue with any of the 3 families I am considering, or any of the 3 others I met with. If that one agency doesn't want a placement fee then they are idiots. It's a BUSINESS, for crying out loud! TRY to place me for the sake of the fee if nothing else! The family DS is meeting today is more than happy to have him there. They have cats and dogs to play with, a beautiful yard, a pool. And like I mentioned yesterday, if I travel with them he is welcome to come along.

Wow, Lindsay. Sounds like a tough night. Luckily you knew what to do and had the backup manpower to make it work out. It definitely sounds like you deserve a day to do exactly what YOU want to do!

Lindsay, sorry about the caterers.:headache: If you need some names I can give you several that are great. That would give you choices if your favorites are not available. I have never heard of the ones you mentioned. Maybe there is a reason I haven't heard of them.:rolleyes1

Welcome home, Tia! I can't wait to hear about your trip! :goodvibes

Tia, I am so glad you had fun! Sounds like Terra had a great time, too!:goodvibes

Now I am off to the patio to do some California/Disney planning and dreaming. Have good afternoons, friends!

Enjoy your planning, Elin!!

I keep forgetting to mention that Ross has my FAVORITE Jones NY shorts in stock for $17.99. They are flat front twill shorts, not TOO short, and wonderful for Disney. I already have a bunch, but I can't pass them up when they are at Ross. The colors change from year to year, but the style is the same. These are the exact shorts I bought last year at Foley's for half the price. I bought 2 pairs of light tan (stone, they call it) and I saw some olive and some melon. I have the tops that match the melon ones, but I am not sure I love the idea of melon colored shorts. They are lighter than coral - sort of cantaloupe but with a bit more pink. I already have a pair of the olive and I don't wear them all that often because I don't have many shirts to match, but the stone ones are my favorites!

Tammi and Anne Marie, your dancers are beautiful. It brings back so many memories.

Welcome home Tia!

Lindsay - Sorry to hear about your caterers, sounds like you should be receiving a good portion of the discount yourself.

I've been working on some designs for our trip today, before I post this one let me say that I have "borrowed" the concept and don't take any credit for coming up with it.

The trip is going to be a surprise and I am dying to tell him.

Looks like you have quite a sunburn there Marti, hope it wasn't too painful.

Debbie- so glad to see you posting...your DGS is adorable!!

Elin-what wonderful students you have and what an awesome teacher you are. Cassidy's boyfriend mentioned a friend of ours as his favorite teacher....I got to tell her that this morning. I love making teacher's days like that.

Beautiful pics Tammi and Anne Marie

Glynis- that is quite a carnival. Enjoy Mulan tonight!!

Elizabeth-it sounds like your decision has been made...I hope negotations go well.

Vicki-Hi there!!!

Tia- Welcome Home!! Loved your mini report.

Thank you all for the comments on my hair....I get a wild hair every four years or so about my hair. I told Cassidy to take a picture of me....she looked at me funny...I must love you all...I HATE getting my picture taken. :rotfl: I have lost half of a chin, I noticed in that picture.

Time for the recital....we'll see you all later.

Before I get going for our busy day (Abi is singing at both services at my work church, then the girl's piano recital and than a graduation party)....I thought I would upload what I did yesterday:

...

Looks like a fun day... and your haircut looks great! :thumbsup2

Ok, I got them loaded up..

More beautiful dancers! Thanks for sharing the pictures! :goodvibes

YEAH! I'm finally caught up and ready to post!! In no particular order... ;)

Jennifer - I am glad that you and Kyle had a great trip! Sorry to hear that the news wasn't as good coming home, but that's great that his vacation choices for next year were approved. I have crazy dreams and aspirations that we will be there the same time as you in Sept. It probably won't work out, but I am sure trying, even if we do only do MNSSHP and one day in the parks with the rest just hanging out around the resort, DTD, FtWildreness, etc.

Tia, I'm VERY impressed! Nice catch up post, and without multi-quoting even! :thumbsup2

I hope you can get your September trip worked out, that would be wonderful!

I'm glad you had a good trip... thanks for sharing some of the details!

For those going on the Food & Wine Festival, I saw the schedule is posted for the Eat to the Beat entertainment.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/epcot/events/index.htm#eattothebeat
I think it is funny that the only time slot that is "To be announced" is during the DDA week-end in October. I would have loved to see David Cassidy. After Donny Osmond, he was my second heartthrob as a preteen.

It has occurred to me that they are waiting for a list of the DDA names to release the performers for our weekend....
