Tinkaroo -

your story reminded me of the worst proposal story I have ever heard:

one of my DH's friend took his girlfriend to this church in Cincinnati

photo4-43.gif

anyone who lives here knows where this is

anyway - they stood at the top of the hill overlooking the city and the river - it is one of the best views in Cincinnati - see the big hill?? the long drop down

He pulls out the ring - proposes and then he was so nervous - he stumbled around trying to get it out of the box and dropped the ring down the hill

he let her panic for a minute or two - and then pulled out the real ring in his pocket

he had bought a fake ring to drop - I would have been very :furious:

I am
:rotfl2: right now! DH did a story for our news channel several years ago about a couple who got engaged at Arches Nat'l Park. It's an incredibly beautiful spot, and there are several great hikes there. They hiked to the top of a peak, and the guy pulled the ring out of his pocket. She said yes, and he tried to put the ring on her finger. They were both shaking so badly, that the ring dropped into a gully several hundred feet below them. She never even got to wear the ring once. When the jeweler heard what happened, he offered them a replacement ring. Too funny!

No problems.
GREAT NEWS I'M GETTING $5,399.00 BACK.

I'm putting all but $399.00 away for this Summer.

Good for you, Brenda! That is a fantastic refund!

Glynis - I'm so glad your hubbie came up trumps on the proposal second time round ::yes:: maybe he wanted to check you'd definitely say yes before he asked you in public!

Jennifer - your DH sounds soooooo romantic! Love the proposal

Marci - love the idea of those hidden mickey flowers :mickey:

Nancy & Deb &Tinkerbell - love your proposal stories too - blimey everyone has such romantic DHs!

Tinkaroo - Wow I think your DH is a very lucky man that you married him after that! :)

Nancy & Vicki & Marti - I was joking with my friend at work yesterday saying that I'd put away last year's Christmas cards that DH and I wrote each other so we could put them back out next year! They're just so expensive and what's a piece of card anyway?? I read this book once about a woman who bought a journal and on their first anniversary wrote a note to her hubbie about her thoughts on the year and how much she  him - then got him to do the same, then each "card occassion" instead of buying cards they'd write another message - so over the years they had something to look back on and see how their relationship had grown. I started a journal but it got packed away when we moved out last year and I haven't found it again yet - must dig it out as I still love that idea :)

I have to admit I am a suckler for wrapping paper though!

Kate - :lmao:

Brenda  FANTASTIC news on the tax rebate :)

Hope I didn't miss anyone...

I love the journal idea! That is so neat! Too bad I didn't know about it when we got married. Oh well, better late than never, right?

My engagement (non-engagement :rotfl2: ) story.
My first husband & I split up when I was 40. I met my DH the following year. He was a friend of my tennant's (I own a duplex). We became friends & eventually roommates. I fell in love with him right away, but he was younger than I so I didn't want to pursue it. While we were room mates we both dated other people & we were just friends. Eventually we stopped dating other people and became more than just friends. We talked about marriage but I didn't want to go there because of the age difference. Eventually we agreed that since we had been together for such a long time (10 years) & we were both still very happy we might as well get married. He insisted on asking my Dad's permission (I was 50 years old, I didn't think I needed Daddy's permission, blessing maybe :goodvibes )
We have now been married 7 wonderful years. He is a perfect husband in so many ways. He is romantic, caring & loves to cater & take care of me. I get flowers for no reason & he goes out of his way to do things that make me happy. His only downfall is that he doesn't like Disney & won't wear a Disney tshirt. But he goes to Disney with me at least once a year and encourages my pin trading. In short, even though my engagement wasn't romantic, my life with him is & I feel blessed to have found him.
Penny

What a sweet story! I think it's great that you were able to transition from friend to spouse. That's the most important thing, I think!

I'm sure that brought in a lot of business for him and was really nice of him to do that.

As you can all see - I have added a note in my signature that I can pm full size designs and am willing to add customization but will not be doing new designs.

My design gallery is smaller images and by having people request the full size images - I feel I will have better control over my designs - or at least know who is using them!!

my week has been looking up so I am feeling much better! Thank you all for being there for me!!!!!

Yeah! Our Queen is feeling happier! That's the best news! Now, are all the kiddies and Steve feeling better? Did you get your Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream?

I'm sure it did give him business. I was really impressed, though, that he offered them a comparable replacement, and not one that was smaller and cheaper. That was cool of him, I thought.

Someone, don't remember who, posted this frame. I cut out all the backround and posted a picture of my nephew.

Those all look great, Clare! I really like the red heart one.

Thanks Tia - that's my favourite too :goodvibes

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone - I don't think I'll be joining the ranks of designer just yet though - it takes far too much time - and is too much of a distractor from my trip report and scrap book that I really need to get finished :rotfl: Vicki and Theresa are doing such a great job of keeping me on track with my trip report I don't want to dissapoint them :goodvibes

Amy - love your new sig BTW - you guys are just too cute

I did!! One of the better Disney Channel originals in a long time. As I was watching it I thought "I always want to go to a grown up movie but this is what I like...clean entertainment, no sex, violence and no naughty words." This could be why most of our DVD's could be rated teeny bopper :lmao:
That's why I love the old Disney movies made when Walt was alive. They're entertaining without junk added. My kids love the original Parent Trap with Hayley Mills and Blackbeard's Ghost.

Congratulations on becoming a "real designer"

Ok this is the last of my private posting party - Paul you have out done yourself - your latest design is a triumph! I hope the Queen loves it :)

My DH just figures since it's his second marriage he doesn't have to do all that romantic stuff. But, my kids are so sweet they try to give me flowers and gifts. (Weeds and bugs, :rotfl: Gotta love them boys. :goodvibes )
