Hi guys...

we are safe and sound. Thanks for your concern! It has been a crazy couple of days trying to get out of Chicago before the storm hit. We did make it out. We went so last minute...that I did forget a couple of things...but at least we are here and safe. Here are a couple of pics from the Poly. Take care!

Fly by post, but I just wanted to say thanks for the pixie dust for my dad. He finally made it back to St. Louis around 11:00 last night (Fri) after having left at 2pm on Thursday. It took him 2 hours to make it into Illinois (30-40 min normal) and things just slowed down from there. Along the way he broke a wiper blade and cracked his windshield while scrapping. Luckily he had spare blades with him and the crack, while all the way across the windshield, was low enough that it didn't impare his vision.

He finally stopped for the night at around 4am 100 miles north of Bloomington. My sister talked to him around 1am and talked him into getting a hotel instead of sleeping in the car. He slept until check out at noon, but couldn't get out of the hotel parking lot until almost 4pm. He thought that he was going to spend another night in Bloomington, but when he hit the highway change there everything suddenly cleared so he got to finish coming home.

We're all just hoping that now he'll think twice before agreeing to do a run like that in bad weather again. Thanks everyone!

Good morning :sunny:

Elizabeth I know I missed you, but have a wonderful time!

Jo have fun at the world today!

Tammi how did the dinner party go?

Tia glad to hear your dad made it home safely!

Time to get ready for work. Hope everyone has a good day, catch you all later!

Lindsay - Keeping this a secret has been horrible! DH & I have had SO many times when we very nearly slipped it is not even funny! Like tonight when I got home I was telling DH that Momboss forgot I was leaving. She actually ALWAYS forgets. And she has had a really stressful week so I can see how she forgot. I told her I left the car seats in the hall for her, and she asked why! :rotfl: I said "Because I am going to Disney World and you will need them!" Luckily I realized what I was about to say to DH and I stopped. And DS was in his room getting some socks so he didn't hear me.
It was hard to come up with a way to tell him. DH wanted to tell him tonight, but I wanted DS to get a good night's sleep. (Unlike me!) So we are going in at 5 AM and telling him that we are leaving for Disney World RIGHT NOW! He'll have 30 minutes to get dressed and put his Game Boy in his backpack. I thought about doing the enchanted phone call from Mickey but since it will be so early in the morning I decided not to. Alarm goes off in 4.5 hours, wake DS in 5.5 hours, leave for the airport in 6 hours, flight in 8.5 hours. :bitelip: I don't actually think we will need an hour to get to remote parking and then to the terminal, but better safe than sorry!

Janet - I'm glad your DH was able to get his truck out without having a crash! You guys be careful!

Kristine - YAY! I'm so glad you all made it out before the storm! Your pics are great! I can't wait to get there and see all the holiday decorations in person!

I'll probably be back before we leave. I still need to print boarding passes.

Elizabeth, this may sound really weird...I had a dream about you leaving last night. I don't even know you, and I didn't think that I was thinking much about it, but I definitely dreamed that I was there helping you get ready to go. Everything went fine in the dream, so I hope it went smooth for you in real life!

Tammi how did the dinner party go?
It was fabulous!!! I had a really nice time. Thanks for asking.

We just got back from skating and Nicholas' bday party. The kids all had a great time. I made them go lay down and try to nap for a little while before we head out to the parade tonight. I know, I'm a bad mommy for making Nicholas take a nap in the middle of his bday. But he stayed up later than usual last night, was up earlier than usual this morning, and roller skated for 3 hours. I'd say he's tired!

I told his dad he was welcome to come to the party. Do you think he showed? Of course not! :furious: I just called to ask him why he couldn't take a few hours out of his day to come to his son's party and his explanation was "I'm going to have something next weekend". Excuse me, but that doesn't tell me why you can't be here for this party! Now - mind you - today is Nicholas' actual bday, not next weekend, and this is the party that he is sharing with all his friends from school. Luckily Nicholas never asked why daddy wasn't there, but it just makes me want to

He is such a POS! Sorry for the tirade, but I needed to vent.

Feel free to vent here. Chris and I both agree that he is a POS too. Not only should he have shown up, but he should have helped you with it. It is not the kid's fault that he moved out. :grouphug: :grouphug:

I had a chance to pop in before I head off to work. I ran the silent auction for the cub scouts and we cleared $306 That is probably the best fund raiser we have ever done. Some of the other parents ran a pancake breakfast this morning and I heard that we did pretty well with that too, possibly another $200. We really needed to get some funding into the program so it couldn't have come at a better time. After that I came home and had lunch then headed out for a few groceries. I also picked up a few shall we say "adult" stocking stuffers for a stocking that I'm putting together for Chris. Let's just say that he won't be opening it in front of the kids  Then I came home and brought a big tote of Christmas decorations up. I think the only way I'm going to decorate this year is a little at a time. I had planned to get a lot done tomorrow, but I've been asked to work now so that cuts my day in half as I need to be there by 3:30 PM. It was too cold and windy to put up anymore outside decorations today so maybe I'll finish that tomorrow. My Dad and Brother left for their hunting trip in North Carolina this morning so Nick and Hunter are staying with Grammy tonight. She's already bored.

Just popping in to say HI! Tammi - I am glad you had fun at the dinner party last night and also glad Nicholas has such a great Mommy since his Daddy s**ks...

Hope you have fun at the Christmas parade. I was decorating the studio today and it was packed downtown already. Had to get the car home before 3:30 or they would have ticketed and towed me!

I'm amazed at how dark it is outside - but the moon brighten's everything up tonight!

How is everyone? I'm just loading a SIMS game to play (boredom on a Saturday night!) and that's about it here.

Where's everyone meeting for the Mickey Wedding??? Jennifer's on the phone with me and can't find Vicki, etc..etc...
