Tom we have 2 cats & have no problems with them & they get along fine with our dog. Of course kittens are alot more playful & they do like to sharpen their little claws on furniture & such. But beings the kitten is 4 months old, you can have it declawed. I am sure Leighanna will love the kitten!

Good Morning All!

All this talk about destructive kitties has be rethinking my decision to get a cat for Leighanna.
My brother last night said that he is giving a 4 month old kitten to Leighanna for Christmas. Along with a gift card so that she can get food, toys, litterbox, and other necessities.
I called my wife from work and she said O.K. So I told him to go ahead. Now I am not so sure.
Leighanna has begged and pleaded with us to get her a kitten for quite some time now, but I have told her that she needs to be a little older, because pets are alot of work, and she has to be responsible for it. I know that asking a 4 year old to be responsible is a tall task, but I guess we shall see.
I hope our golden retriever Sophie gets along with it. She is pretty much laid back, so much, that I almost forget she is here most of the time.

Tom,
As long as you start right away and keep it up, training a cat that there are some areas they are to stay away from will be okay. Naturally, just as I say that, sometimes our cats look at a wire and start looking interested, and I just have to say "NO" or look like I am going to get the water bottle and spray them and they will back off.

Jen, sorry about your breakup. :grouphug: These things happen for a reason. Know that you are a very giving, and wonderful person. The right Prince Charming will eventually show up, and you will see that it was worth the wait.

Jen I hope as I read on that all the other DDA family has told you similar things....Don't let him get you down. There is nothing wrong with you...this one lies totally on this dork. You will find somebody....your Prince Charming...this one was just one of your toads!!

And your not alone this Christmas or New Year's you've got us!! :teeth: ;)

Jen, you listen to me.....YOU DID NOTHING WRONG!!! You are an amazing person. If he can't or won't see that, then you're better off without him. Trust me, you want someone who sees you at your worst, and still wants to be with you. You deserve someone who will treat you like the queen you are (are you listening, too, Tammi? This applies to you as well!) He IS out there! Think of it this way, it's better for you to sacrifice a holiday season in order to find someone who will make your entire life a holiday season! In the meantime, celebrate with your family, your friends, and us. We love you and love to have you here with us! I know it's not the same thing as a flesh and blood significant other, but we'll do for now!

Give yourself time to grieve the loss of the relationship, and then put yourself out there again, stronger and better because of it!

I really appreciate you guys being there for me...you all have said nice things and i am feeling alot better this morning...While i dont have a boyfriend, i do have my family, friends, and you guys!

Good Morning DDA'ers :sunny:

Guess what or should I say who I received in the mail yesterday.......PAL MICKEY!! I was so puzzled that Tom would send me a pkg until I saw what was in the pkg.

I am even more excited about our trip now!!!

I also wanted to say THANK YOU for all the Christmas cards so far this year. I always tape mine around the top and sides of our double front door. I ended up putting all my Disney friends around one door and other friends and family around the other door. When people come over they always ask about the pictures and I always point out that these are my Disney friends on this side. So now they really know that ya'll exist when I talk about ya'll.

I hope everyone has a very blessed Christmas and Holiday season.

Well time for me to get a little sleep for the day.
I had to work a 16 hour shift last night, and I am surprised that I am still awake.
I did get good news though. I will be off Christmas Eve night, and might also be off Christmas night, depending on the orders that we receive.
Now, I can continue the Christmas tradition with Leighanna, by reading "'Twas The Night Before Christmas" to her, and putting out cookies and milk for Santa, and carrots out on the front lawn for the reindeer.

Take care all! So ends my P3. I might be back on later tonight.

I'm so glad you will be home Christmas Eve. It's so important to do those traditions! You guys will have so much fun!

We are starting a new tradition this year. At our church Christmas party, each family was given a gingerbread house kit to put together. Unfortunately, they didn't allow enough time for the frosting to harden, and all the houses fell apart on the trip from the church home. Nobody's house survived! My kids were crushed. Well, while I was in Costco yesterday, I found the same kit. There were only 2 left, so I snatched one up. On Saturday morning, we will cement the walls and roof together and let it dry all day long. Then, after our big Christmas Eve meal, and after the kids have watched Polar Express, we'll gather around the table and decorate it together. My hope is it will last at least through the night, and be a nice centerpiece for our Christmas breakfast! Here's hoping!!!

Tom, I have had cats all of my adult life and they are by far the easiest pet to care for, IMO. All they need is food, water and a clean box. They can be left alone while you go on vacation, as long as someone comes in once a day to care for them. They are pretty self-sufficient. Don't let Elizabeth's evil cat scare you off.

WOOHOO!!!!

I'm glad you are able to have the time to be with your family. :goodvibes

Good morning everyone! Just a fly by hello on my way back to the basement with more laundry. At this rate, I may be able to get dressed soon. I've also got a kitchen to clean and presents to wrap. I managed to get about 15 wrapped last night so I'm almost there. We're baking and decorating sugar cookies with all of the kids today. I've also got to get to the store for a few gifts for Phil's family so that I can get them in the mail ASAP. I was able to order directly gifts for 2, but I think the others will be cheaper to get here with Bed Bath and Beyond coupons and ship myself. Nothing too big so hopefully I can get them into smaller flat rate boxes.

Have a great day everyone!
