Thank you all for the good vibes!:goodvibes We are back from the specialist...the short version:

They would like is sugar level to be 100...120 on a bad day, his is 250!!!

He begins daily medication today (oral) has to monitor daily via the finger stab system..or I should say, I have to monitor it...since this is the way it seems to be going.

Besides excessive thirst, he has no other symptoms...

Diet, exercise, medicine, monitor & we go back in 3 weeks....

Kristine
Kristine -

once he has to monitor and you aren't around - he'll get used to doing it himself!!

Hopefully things will be better next time you go back!!

Maybe I will set the needle on the extra deep setting...then he will WANT to do it himself!!! :rotfl:

I can't believe I didn't think about this before!!!!

The hospital where Amy delivered has a web nursery!!!!!!!

I just went and sure enough - there were pictures of Matthew

now normally - I would not post someone else's baby photos - but it has been FOUR days!! and if they can't find their camera cord - it could be a while

so here are the pictures of baby Matthew - who I think looks a lot like his beautiful big sister!!

Awwwwwwwww... what a cutie! I agree he looks like Alyssa and also a lot like Amy. Thanks for posting them, Kate. I am also including them in my reply so that we can all look our fill since it will be a while before we see any from Kevin and Amy. ;)

Kate - Dates are 11/28 to 12/5 for Disney. I'm assuming (since she's not around to verify) that she's picking it up a day before (or evening before?)with dropoff the day after (morning after?)...best I could find was Advantage from the Austin airport between $679 and $762 but that's no discounts with unlimited milage.. Enterprise sometimes doesn't let you take it out of state and they were slightly cheaper...
I just found her a rate on National

picking up at noon on the 27th and returning it at noon on the 6th for $378 -

Base Rate - Minivan (USD)
(1) Time & Distance ($299.00/Week) $299.00
(2) Extra - Time & Distance ($49.83/Day) $99.66
Discount Coupon Accepted ($20.00)
Rate/Product Code WWEB
Contract ID 5000304
Inclusive Rate Items
Guaranteed Base Rate Included
Unlimited Miles Included

Subtotal $378.66

I wanted to talk to you about your rental car rate - that seems high to me - but then again - I am from a different part of the country -

what dates are you looking at and where would you pick the rental car up -

I am pretty good at rental car rates - would you like me to check it out for you?!?!?

Is that an open invitation? :teeth: Only kidding, but how does $196.21 (includes all taxes) sound for a full-size in Orlando for a week in August sound? I have no idea how rentals usually run.

Okay guys -- I need some PD and prayers, please. Jessie, our adopted cat of almost a year, is hurt. She may have been sleeping on top of the garage door when it was up this morning and got caught in it when I put it down. Needless to say, I am a nervous wreck and am feeling like a horrible parent. I found her when I got back from an errand, over in the grass crying and panting. I took her to our vet, who was at lunch, but the assistant took her and made her comfortable. They will have to sedate her, do x-rays to see what is broken and if there is internal bleeding and decide what to do. I am almost hysterical with guilt and I dread the call from the vet. I'm praying all that is broken is her leg. I'm also sick to my stomach since I'll have to tell the boys when I pick them up from school in an hour.

Please send any extra good thoughts Jessie's way. I'd be grateful. :sad2:

Marci

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for Jessie. And :grouphug: for you!

The dates we'll want the rental are 8/12 - 8/19. I mainly looked at Alamo and National, because we want an easy return near Disney. Though if we saved enough, I could return it to MCO and use ME to get back to POR. We have 5 in the family (including two teens), so we do need at least a full-size. Thanks, Kate!

i just checked and that seems to be a pretty good rate for one week in August!!!

Thanks, Kate. I worked at it, and it was the best I could do. I just don't know enough about the rates to know if I did well. :sunny:

***?!?!!?!?

How is it any of her damn business if you work or not?!?!?

They are very good friends of ours and have been for a very long time. And we do give each other advise, but this was a little out of sorts. I know they have been a bit stressed, but I still think this was out of line. I guess that is what has just blown me away. Oh well.

Lynn looks like we will be there at the same time! Taking ds for his birthday Jan. 1st -5th. Maybe I will see you!

I had to share these. These are Brian's Buddies. They are being made in honor of Brian Montgomery, who passed away in April. All the proceeds go to the Brain Tumor Society. I just had to share the picture...if anyone is interested in these, just let me know. I'm waiting on the info from the mom.
