I'm back. I went with her because she's been very, uh, lazy...lately. She's never been much of a housekeeper, but since she got back from Florida, she's been really really bad. I haven't been in her apartment for a while, but it was a complete mess the last time I was there.
I was able to find out that she is, indeed, physically capable of doing her own laundry, washing her dishes, vacuuming her rugs, going to the grocery store, etc., etc., etc. (She has COPD, but her breathing has been great since she figured out how to take her medication, she's barely using her inhaler at all).
But, it turns out she hasn't been using her sleep apnea machine since she got back from Florida on April 6th.

So, while she feels like she's sleeping through the night, she isn't really and therefore has no energy and is always tired. I set it up before I left.
There were a few "words" between us as far as what she expects from me (and my siblings) and what she needs to do for herself. Let's just say that neither of us were really thrilled, but it had to be said. She has a follow-up in 2 weeks to see if the CPAP machine helps. If not, they'll put her on a stimulant...just what she needs, another medication.
Christy, she actually needs all the meds she's on, but if she lost 25 or 30 pounds, she could probably drop a bunch of them. And, like the doctor said, they put "may cause drowsiness" on EVERYTHING. They have to, they have to cover their butts.
I'm almost done with laundry. Working on my swap. Early dinner night, softball at 5:00, and GLEE (and Biggest Loser!) tonight! Yippeeee!
Welcome, Cindy. Can't wait to get to know you better!
