Lot's to do today but not enough time to post now, so I'm holding my spot.

Question:

I need opinions. the mother of one of DS14's classmates died over the weekend. The funeral is Thursday at 11. Would you pull your kid out of school to go?
This kid has been a friend of DS's for a long time but he's also a huge trouble maker and while I'm not that crazy about DS being friends with him, I'm hoping that the show of teen support might help steer the boy in the right direction. He's always toed the line but I'm really afraid that this will push him over the edge.
It's a tough balancing act trying to keep DS14 from being harmed if the kid lashes out but also trying to support him during this terrible time.

What would you do??

How does you DS feel about going to the funeral? maybe ask the school counselor....knowing what I know from losing Jim, Megan's friends at the memorial in CA gave her some distraction when she needed it, so I would pull him out if he feels up to it.

Sleeping is always the biggest indication of a sick kiddo. except DD#3 with the fro ups.

My bank account is loving the no debit card but its frustrating me. ERRGGG!!

its tough to be without it....I couldn't remember my PIN when we were in WDW, so had to use my CC instead...had to wait until we got back to have my PIN sent, took them 5 days

Buffy, I would talk to DS...but I would if he wanted take him... I know when we lost one of DS14's classmates a few years ago.. all the kids were there.... (lots of cousins here, everyone knows everyone).... the mom still thanks all the kids to this day.. different situation but we have also taken the kids to the funeral of DS14's twin classmates that lost their dad in a car accident...

Hope Megan is feeling better..

We had our phone line go dead today....had a fried wire from something... have to put a sump pump in our basement next week... :( but that should solve our water issue.... getting a good price because we know the plumber and we are doing a majority of the work with him....

DS wants to go. We talked about it last night and I think a few kids from the class are going.

Nope, not late to the party.
The wake is tomorrow night, we have a track meet but he will already have dress clothes so he could change in the locker room. I told him to tell coach we have to leave right after his second event.

The funeral is Thursday at 11. I'm thinking of letting DS go to school picking him up at 10, staying just for the church service and then bringing him back to school while everyone else goes to the cemetery.
The church is ironically next to DS9's school and I know the whole building says a prayer when the service is going on. I will probably pass that info on to the Dad some time soon.

I remember the 14 year old. That's why I want DS to go. I'll leave the little ones at school and DD with mom. But I think it's the right thing for DS to show his support. This kids going to need some strong guidance the next few years. I talked to the elementary school principal yesterday, the kid was always pissed because his mom was sick all the time, but she was still there. I'm not sure if it's going to be a relief that it's over or the straw that breaks the camel's back.
I really hope his dad can hold it together long enough to help his kid.

It's so sad. But a real reminder that we aren't guaranteed a tomorrow so make sure your kids know you love them!!!

I think you are doing the right thing....you are so right and I am living it! one thing Jim and I NEVER forgot to do when he was travelling was to say we loved each other before hanging up.. Megan and I always tell each other we love you any time we are leaving each other!

WE always tell each other that...

DD17 texts ILY and you probably can figure out the acronym..at the close of all messages

DS14 doesn't say it as much...but he gives you that look..that says "mom, thank you so much for everything, ily".... he speaks more with his eyes...

DS10 is the lover! He will hug and tell you all day long..

DH and I seldom end a phone call or evening w/o and "I love you"... even when I'm fit to be tied with him~

Stephanie--I'm dying to know what happens at Michael's at 3 am :upsidedow

It's truck day and this will be our first 3 a.m. one. Corporate has decided that our trucks will come earlier so that we can have it unloaded, the boxes unpacked, the product on the shelves, the repacks unpacked and put away, and the overstock up by the time the store opens at 9 a.m. We have had to hire more people just for this so that we have enough people and I still do not see how it's going to get done. We did a practice run last week with a 5 a.m. truck and we didn't finish.

But, my manager wants me on the sales floor during the day so he says that once we are up and running on the truck and he's got more people hired that I will only have to do the 3 a.m. bit every once in awhile. I sure hope he follows through with that!

I'm now off to bed because I have to be up in just over 6 hours to get ready for work (and I only just got home from work an hour ago!)!:sad2:

Oh I remember those days at Michael's!!! I don't miss them!!!!

Xmas was the worst because we got 2-3 Michael's corporate trucks plus all the shipping ones, UPS, FedEX, Dominion, Estes. I was soooooo glad my day was done at 2, I unloaded but everyone else had to put the stuff out!

What a day. First day back from vacation is tough. Came back to 89 voice mails, one of which was our Deputy Administrator from HQ, :scared1: a crashed phone, and a boss out on extended medical leave. OY.

my to do:

iron not one, not two but three shirts. First two had odd stains on them. Will need to look at the washing machine.
Feed cats
Wirte in DD's communication book
get dd ready for school,
Change clothes after DD threw up her seizure med on me. Seriously? Now on outfit four.
caffeinate
work :scared1:
baby phone system to get it to limp back into life
take three aspirin
mail bills out
take DD to special olympic swim
calling an end to this daily gladly!!
watch DWTS

Wow! What a day Lisa... They really can't go on in that office without you! They break stuff and leave it for you to fix when you come back!!!!
