~The Daily Grind~ 12/3/09

Will you point that weather to the midwest.. it's cold, rainy and just YUCKY out... :(
Everyone needs to say a prayer for good weather in FLA tomorrow.... especially for DH's flight and then the services....

Ok, off to pull my hair up, make my list for errands...
My parents just called me and offered to send money for DH to fly down... I thanked them and told them FIL had it covered as our family Christmas present...so they are going to go buy the kids a few extra things and put them in the mail... (like they need anything else....good gravy).... I think my parents don't want to be out done.... Maybe I should suggest a college fund for the grandkids!!

I'll try to send the good weather your way! The wind was whistling around the house and it was raining sideways when I dropped onto the sofa. The sun streaming through the window woke me up an hour later.

Nan, you and your family are in my thoughts - this is such a tough time. Nice of your parents to ask about covering the ticket - regardless of their *motive*!

I know - the weather totally changed this morning. All the cats are basking in sun puddles around the house. They said it might reach 70 degrees today, but then it will get *wicked* cold later on this week!

I've been knitting like crazy (making scarves for my nieces and my sister).

Nan - Your family is in my toughts and prayers.

Today is a down day.

I finally got DH to call a transmission shop- they said they would be able to fix it for less than 2500- it could be as little as 250. We are going to go look at cars but then have the car towed to the shop and see what the diagnostics says.

I am using my brother's car to go to Tampa tomorrow. He is getting it filled up with gas today for me.

Sigh, my laptop has crashed. Thank goodness I backed stuff up last week, but it totally messes up my day! I had the recipes for the recipe swap on there and now I need to redo them. :furious:

On a happy note, the weather did change, it's gorgeous out there, the cats are hanging in the open windows.

I need to get to the grocery store and then come back and get back to work on the recipes. SOABB.

I'm going to go open the windows for the cats too...That will make me the favourite human for the day;)

I think my parents don't want to be out done.... Maybe I should suggest a college fund for the grandkids!!

Please don't think bad of me....we do this. My boys go to private school, and I have suggested to the grands to make a donation to the tuition account when they want to spend more but don't know what to get.

MIL loves the idea, but my mother thinks it's awful. She is all about stuff and more stuff.

I think it is a great idea! A few of our grands (and greats) do bonds for our kids - and we think it is marvelous! The kids have more than enough plastic toy crap in their rooms - and with the $$$ interest growing all these years - wow! The other money we get from them for "gifts" we mostly use for museum membership fees, theater tickets, trips, and other "experience" things, rather than toys. Works for us!!!

My Grandma got me bonds every birthday and special events. They were supposed to be for college, but I didn't need them. Then they were going to be for the down payment for the house but we didn't need them. I tend to cash them in for something I really want when money is really tight, or for something special that I find it hard to justify using house money for. I used one to pay for my Baby Bug, originally. There are other things I own now that when I look at, I thank Grandma (she is no longer with us).

I planned to do bonds for gifts when DSIL & DBIL start having kids, but the interest rates are so bad these days, I don't know if there is a better alternative.

I do not think bad of you at all.. I would much rather the money go for their future education or endeavours than frivilous crap just to compete w/ everyone else... It seems a lot more logical to me to put the money to better use!!!

FIL buys the kids bonds every year for Christmas... it's been a life saver knowing they have some money outside of loans, scholarships, grants and stuff for their educations!!!

:lmao: love that!

it looks awesome!!!!!! great job!!!!!!

He is a dolly. Princess has asked Santa for a kitten...Oh boy, how do we deal with that?!

I am not going to be much help, my SIL volunteers at Kitty Angels in our town. They are always looking to place kittens. ;) They have some that are ready for that perfect home now.

Lightening is really a sweetie. He uses the litter box, sleeps in his man cave at night, never jumps up on the table or kitchen counters (two things that are a big no no for me).

Jennifer, I forgot to mention, your signs are terrific for the game.
