~The Daily Grind~ 11/15/09

Are y'all doing the menu planning that is the habit for the month? I'm getting a bit better, but since DH is doing to shopping, it's difficult to plan too far in advance. I got an awesome recipe for No Pasta Veggie Lasagna from the Crock Pot Lady today, so I want to make that soon.

My list for today:

Caffeinate
smiley_drinkcoffee.gif
This repeats every day!!

Morning Routine -Swish and Swipe

Some Flybaby stuff...

Make a crockpot full of veggie soup

Reboot the laundry :laundy:

Change the sheets...didn't get this done yesterday
:rolleyes1

Dinner... Roast Beef, Caulimash casserole, broccoli

Have a Great Day Everyone!! :teeth:

OMG! Being away yesterday I have double the work load!
We took youngest to play in a bb tournament b/c team was short players. He isn't on the team because he got fresh with me and lost the privilege of playing before tryouts even begun. But in talking to the other moms..some of the goings on..doesn't surprise me and I'm glad he is not playing...

Today:

:laundy:
dishes
clean the whole house (each family member will take a room and clean it from top to bottom)
finish and burn CD for Senior AD (I'm going to scan a photo of DH holding DsS at the hospital)
DD to turn in CD to school tomorrow
cut words for my volunteer job at HS tomorrow (yup, I volunteered my bug for the job too!)
move VHS tapes (FINALLY) so I can start the reindeer stalls

help DH hang some more drywall, I may have fresh painted walls on the dining room for Turkey day!
make list for DS13's dinner meals as we provide our own meals this year for all their ball games (much cheaper; and yes, we will have PBJ's available for those who don't remember their meals)

check prices on in styler for DD (gift)Forget it! I'm not paying $130.00 total!!!
write CK and cut photos for Grams (MUST mail on Monday)
figure out why there is NOT enough time in a day
pull directions for school we are going to tomorrow night (I know the short cut but want to verify the roads again)
make sure all homework is done
30 minutes of reading for each child after chores are done
sweep all rooms
pull photos for LO challenge
pull papers for LO challenge

I know there is a ton more but the kids are not fighting with one another.. It's going to be a long day! What are they fighting about... what is on TV... really, seriously! NOTHING IS ON TV, we will start chores NOW!

Laundry.
Finish boxing up books when DH comes back with fresh boxes.
Take Little Bit to his first basketball clinic. This is his first year to play. He's not held a ball outside of gym class. First team practice is Thursday, first game is that Saturday. Good thing they don't keep track of win/lose in this league. It is all about building up the skills for the traveling teams in 4th grade.
All the boys are the team we know. Most of them are great kids. Will need to keep an eye on one boy who doesn't respect authority. It really stinks because he has the makings of a great person if only the adults in his life would pay attention to him, the right way.
Make dinner.
Finish laundry.

I was up and out at the grocery store bright and early this morning after doing a half-week menu plan. We don't want to have too many leftovers (that end up getting thrown away), so we're going to do a half-week at a time (ish).

Just got back from "Scouting for Food" drive. They hand out bags on Saturday and then go back and pick them up on Sunday and all the food goes to the pantry. Boy Scouts are heavily involved. Not as many girls, but Princess and one of her friends and the mom and I drove around to 3 streets and picked stuff up. Thank goodness we didn't bring my car, but her van, it was chock full!

We are possibly heading over to the "Mall" this afternoon. Don't know for sure. I'm sure it's mental over there and I don't know if I want to deal with it.

Meatballs are in the crock pot for later and I had baked Brie for lunch! Awesome recipe, PBF :)

Deb, could you link me to that no pasta veggie lasagna? I need new ideas. I'm sick to death of the same old same old!

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

I do menu planning- of course I don't stick to it completely but I have our basic menus planned through Jan 15th- I do switch things around as needed at times and I also make a star on days that are crowded with things to do so I can make sure the meal for that day is easy. I couldn't do quarterly grocery trips without my menu, list, and deep freezer.

It's DS's 17th birthday today so we've been partying! I was up bright and early (5:30 a.m.) to decorate the dining room. This year I did his party in a 50's rock 'n roll theme. We had hanging records, blow up guitars, bubble necklace guitars, and tamborines as well. We did a small family party this morning before the grandparents and aunt showed up and DS opened the gifts from us. He absolutely loves the camera we got him and he's been taking lots of photos of his cat while trying to learn how to use all the settings. He got so much stuff for his birthday. He's an only child and only grandchild so he gets quite spoiled. We went to his favorite mexican restaurant for lunch with the family and for dinner, the 3 of us will go to Red Lobster.

All the family has gone home so we're all relaxing now. I'm catching up on here, DH is napping, and DS is playing one of the video games he got.

Have a great rest of the day everyone!

Stephanie

Happy Birthday AndrewNO!

I know what you mean about having an only child. Princess is our one and only and she'll be spoiled rotten forever!

Thanks for the link, Debbie, I'll check it out. The vegetarian no pasta lasagna sounds num yummy! Anything that makes my life easier (i.e., a crock pot) is a good thing!

Girls:
Wanted to tell you about my awesome find today!!!!
We went to Lowe's for drywall to finish the last wall.. no problem.. $25.00 does that...
Was looking around the clearance section and we notice tongue and grove flooring.. Pergala (spelling)... regular price is $45.00 a box for 8 pieces... gorgeous chestnut coloring... anyway we got the last 6 boxes and they were clearance for $10.00 each... so what should have cost us $270.00 for the entry way and the hallway... cost us $60.00!!!!!!!!!!

:woohoo:

ETA: DH says he can have my entry way and hallway complete for another $45.00!! That brand new drywall and FIL have gorgeous bead board and trim/molding already purchased for us! (he got it at an estate sale for next to nothing!!!)

I know what you mean about having an only child.

In my family we refer to them as precious only's. DD is one, as is my DN. At least they have each other.

Happy Birthday, Andrew. Sounds like you had a great birthday. :)

Nancy, that is a great find! I was thrilled when we did our guest room and upstairs hallway for $150, but you got the deal of the century!!

Today was a nice quiet day.

We slept in to 7:00 am.
Changed sheets
Put pork loin and fixings into the crock pot
Did a few rounds of laundry
Made deposit at the bank
Went out to lunch with DH.
Took DD to swim class

Nan, I see you pinked out figure out why there isn't enough time in a day. What was the answer? I feel like I'm going to get the "Meaning of Life!"

I tried to figure it out.....

I gave up finding the answer and decided I had therefore completed the task! :)
