Anyone heard of a shopping area called the crossroads? A friend said you can walk it from DTD, anyone know how long it will take to walk and which direction to go in from DTD?

Ive been to the crossroads -its about a 15-20 minute walk from DTD.

just walk out of the main exit from DTD and walk straight ahead.

i wouldnt want to do it in the middle of the day though!

Yep it's on SR535.
follow Hotel Plaza Blvd past the Hilton/Holiday Inn/Royal Plaza etc until you reach the 535 and it's opposite.
Not sure there's much shopping there, only ever driven past it and seen the McDonalds and Olive Garden etc :)

The general advice is not to bother. The UG describes it as a place where the prices are higher than the Tower of Terror

If you just feel like a walk to get out a bit and pick up a few odd things, then I would think it is absolutely fine, but if you want to do some proper shopping or even a half decent grocery shop, it would be way better to just get a taxi and go elsewhere.

That's referring specifically to Goodings the Supermarket (which by all accounts is destined to close shortly anyhow).

Restaurants are all 'normal' though - we often hit the Perkins there as him indoors is a 1-man fan club of the place, LOL.

Yes I wouldn't bother if you are on DDP you wont need the restaurants.

We had a awful meal there once at chevvys fresh mex so I suppose that colours my view.

A 15 min walk doesn't sound bad but in the heat when you will have already walked through DTD I'd pass.

Crossroads is great for cheap meals - Olive Garden, Pizza Hut, Mc D's (esp when the one at DTD closes), just a little further down there is a Chilli's (nachos and ranch yummmmmmmmm). Our all time fave burger joint Fudruckers is in there too, which if you like burgers is a MUST DO! :lovestruc

As DisneyMad says the ''rip off'' is Goodings. Whilst not sky high the prices are comparable to Disney Resort shops where as if you venture to Publix or Walmart things are way cheaper. I really dislike Goodings, the place is disgusting with a fousty mould smell and sticky carpets. I had heard they were closing it down but it hasn't happened yet.

They have small random stores, I think a sunglass one. Def a Foot Locker and a make your own perfume shop. So odd lol.

So many restaurants in a small space I think its a great off site location.

Not much in the way of shopping, so many restaurants there is sweet tomatoes, buffalo wild wings if you like sports and is a mini golf pirates cove right at back of crossroads.:)

From who exactly ? (People who havent been there presumably):confused3

As has been mentioned - quite a few restaurants there (inc TGIF) and a Pirates Cove Golf that is the same as the I-Drive course but far less busy.

Also several restaurants near to it to it including Orlando Ale House and Romano's - both very good.

Yep, probably well worth a look especially if you're not on the dining plan, there's a pizza hut and burger king nearby too so covers most of the fast food options which is good and close if you're looking for it :)

There is also a Quiznos at the Crossroads, which makes the best sandwiches EVER! Oh, I could so go for one of them right now :cloud9:

:) They are my fave! Our nearest one is in Winter Garden Village but if you are onsite prob the closest one is on Vineland Road off the 535 that leads to the Premium outlets.

There is also one on Sand Lake but that gets REALLY busy at lunchtimes.

One at Millenia too!

We've always had great (and cheap) meals at Chevvy's. :thumbsup2

There's also a Perkins, our favourite spot for Breakfast. We generally pay the same price as a counter service breakfast at SSR and it's way way better.

As mentioned, there's a Sweet Tomatoes which, being a salad buffet (with yummy deserts and soups) which is a welcome break from the heavy food served in the theme parks/resorts.

The Perkins breakfasts are awesome, you order an Omelette and breakky potatoes or hash browns, and then you get a side of pancakes with it too - it's like buy one get one free :lmao:
