The last time we were there, the service was terrible. We sat at a small table for about 10 minutes and watched while the servers walked past us with hardly a glance. There were 2 servers working - one trainee and one "regular" server - and when the trainee finally noticed us, it was to ask us to move to a different table because a group just walked in and wanted the table we were sitting in! We thought that moving would give us some good karma (and hopefully some good service), but alas, it was not to be. We moved to the other table and were ignored for another 5 minutes before we flagged down the trainee and asked for drink menus. We were waiting for dinner at Yachtsman so we weren't in a hurry when we walked in, but now we've blown 15 minutes just waiting for drink menus! The trainee told us she would get us menus, but that we were in the regular server's section.
After another 5 minutes of waiting, and watching the regular server leisurely chit chat with every other guest in the place, I asked my husband if we should just walk up to the bar and order. The trainee must have heard us so she came over with an exasperated look and took our order. When our drinks arrived, mine was completely wrong. I ordered a gin and ginger ale with a wedge of lime. What I got was a gin and tonic with a twist of lemon. I don't like tonic, but now we've invested almost 25 minutes in this experience and I just want to cut our losses. It was my birthday so my husband insisted that he tell the server I got the wrong drink. Unfortunately, it was the regular server who came over. She insisted that she keyed the correct order into the system and maybe their ginger ale just tastes different from what I'm used to. Okay..tonic is a very different animal from ginger ale. And, I guess I can't tell the difference between a twist of lemon and a lime wedge. She pretty much insisted that what I got was correct and there was no offer to have it remade. Rather than make a big deal, I let it go. When we were about 1/2 finished with our drinks, the regular server dropped the check on our table. No "would you like anything else", no "take your time", just a giant thud. We were a little taken aback, since we didn't indicate that we were finished and hadn't gotten any indication that our table at Yachtsman was ready.
About 10 minutes later, we were almost finished with our drinks when the regular server came over, picked up our check, opened it and saw that there was no payment inside. She slammed it shut and dropped it back on the table. At this point, the place had pretty much cleared out (only 3 people at the bar and 2 other tables occupied) so it wasn't a matter of trying to seat another party. I couldn't have been happier when we were called for our table. I'd like to go back to Crew's Cup because it's a nice place for a pre-dinner drink, but only if I can sit at the bar or if a different server is working.
